Best cheese plate offering I've seen in a while. Exceptional service. Worth the price. Ribeye was amazing, good portions. Heart of Raleigh, lots to do close by before or after dinner.

Took wife to Second Empire on July 6th because she didn't want to cook. I was in my Bermuda Shorts but it did not matter because Second Empire welcomes you whatever you wear....The restaurant in a historic home in Raleigh offers both 2 menus as well as 2 dining locales as this old house is quite large. So depending upon... More

My husband took me here for my birthday and we really enjoyed it. The food was wonderful and cooked to perfection. Their wine list has so many great wines choices. I even received a signed menu for my birthday from the chef.

I had read exceptional reviews about this restaurants so I hoped it would hold up to what the critics were saying. Second Empire was exceptional! Our table was in a small room on the main floor with about six tables. This made for a quiet intimate atmosphere. The service was exceptional. Our entries were all presented at the same time.... We celebrated my birthday in the Tavern at Second Empire. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding. Prices are good. Very nice atmosphere. I had the Wiener Schnitzel and chocolate souffle for dessert. Both were very good. Great restaurant for special occasions and business dinners. Very quiet and relaxing. We enjoy eating downstairs, less formal. Parking lot in back.

We celebrated our 50th. anniversary and had dinner in the Tavern downstairs. The Second Empire upstairs is a bit more formal and probably good for group events. Up and down are decorated very attractively, and so the ambiance is pleasant all over. The staff is very attentive and pleasant. The food is pretty much outstanding, my husband had the French... This restaurant is nothing short of delicious. We ate down in the Tavern. It was a bit bright for my liking, but the experience was still amazing. The white tablecloths gave you a feel of fine dining, yet the Tavern is more casual. Be sure to dress nicely though. :)The variety on their menu was great. I had the catch... More

We ate in the "tavern," the more casual part of the restaurant. The service was very good and the food super. Both the "upstairs" and tavern menu are available. From start to finish it was a very good meal. Our only complaint is that wine is unnecessarily pricey. Otherwise, all aces.

Second time here. Nice ambience, beautiful decor. Service try hard, they are good at some times then running short at others. In the pictures you can tell that even thought my entree was done my cocktail glass was still there, don't ask for fresh ground pepper cause they bring you a plastic salt and pepper shaker. The food... Well...chef is... More
