We love to go to Hayes Barton Cafe and Dessertery. The people are so nice and it is a small, fun establishment with a WWII era theme. The food has always been fabulous and the portions are large, so you'll probably be taking some home. They have specials each night and work with local produce. Eat the bread! And all... More

One of my favorite restaurants in town! Always delicious! Excellent service always. Only regret is that we didn't bring home the bread basket leftovers!

From out of town but a local introduced me - Been hooked ever since. Absolutely can't go wrong even if you selected a dessert from the case blindfolded ;).

What a cool place. Neat old school feel. The food was wonderful. The meat loaf was awesome (big portions). The filet was great as was the pork medallions. Great mashed potatoes. And then there was dessert. Unbelievable!!!!!! Coconut cake was the best I have ever had. The service is outstanding. Will be back when in the area.

My bride of 31 years, our middle daughter and her husband, celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary with Frank, Marget and the HBC crew on June 8 at the 6 PM seating. As usual, Frank welcomed us in and ushered us to our table, like an old friend welcoming us into his home. Honestly, I don't think Frank every met a... More

Any time I'm in Raleigh for work, this is a MUST stop for dinner! The open at 6PM for service and a line is always waiting to get in the door. My favorite spot to sit at is at the counter. They have a regular menu, but I've always ordered off the specials they have that night. This time is... More

This is a small family run joint with great food. The mussels appetizer is great, love the pasta dishes, meatloaf is amazing, and the list goes on. It's hard to save room for the delicious cakes. Luckily you can get a piece to go and eat it for a week. They don't take reservations for parties of two, so go... More

We made reservations because we know it's busy, arrived early and still waited 45mins past res time. The food and drinks were outstanding and the atmosphere is amazing. You can tell the owners are involved and care about each customer. Love to see it expand somehow for shorter waits. To many ppl just hanging out after eating when they clearly... More

We visited Hayes Barton Cafe last night with our daughter and her husband, and our third daughter. As usual, the place was packed and Frank and the team did a very good job at changing over the tables from the 6 PM seating to the 8 PM seating. One of the things we really enjoy about HBC is their ever... More

Had their delicious chicken salad on top of a house salad for lunch. The chicken salad was very good as it does not have too much mayo. HAD to get a piece (wedge) of key lime pie to try as their desserts looked fabulous. The pie was expensive ($8.50), but was almost twice the size of what you get at... More
