ORO has been in Raleigh for years but it’s new to me!!! I’ve been twice this fall. It was very busy on a Saturday and rather quiet on a Monday. They offer fun cocktails and a great assortment of small plates. The service was great...both times!!More
The ambience in this place is great. RTP area of NC, which is where this place is located. You get most of the good things of a big city without the hassles, ORO exudes the vibe you get when hanging out on Billionaire Row in...Manhattan. Very nice, The food is always wonderful. Maitre'D has a very chill personality.
Good place to have good food, and a good stroll through the downtown area. Nice date night venue. I had duck for dinner. It was great.More
While all the food and drinks were very good, it is worth going there just for the Chilean Sea Bass, in spite of it's high price of $35. My son had a specialty cocktail Tweet Yourself which came in the cutest glass. The only reason...I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is the cost. The menu lists wine by the glass with one, high price, but we were offered two sizes. Of course, we knew it would cost more, but the bill turned out to be extremely high.More
We went for downtown resturant week and they had a great selection on their menu. Our server, Corey was excellent. He was very good and funny. He allowed us to take our time during dinner and not rush us. Resturant week menu was 3 course...for $30/person. It was not very big, but they tables on a second floor too. The wine was a little pricey, but good. For glasses of wine, you get a choice of 6 oz or 8 oz. We had 6 oz and it was plenty. We both had mushroom rosuitto, braised short ribs with potatoes and taramisu for dessert. The atmosphere was modern. Thank you Corey for making our evening enjoyable and fun.More
Very nice looking restaurant and the service was excellent. Since we got there around 6:30 pm on a Friday it was very easy to park in the lot right across the street. Upon entering, the restaurant was almost empty...maybe only 4 tables were occupied. The...hostess sat us in probably the smallest table in the entire place. We asked if we could sit in the adjacent table which would allow a nice view from the loft...she said no because we were only a party of 2. Two of the other tables for four that were occupied had only 2 people sitting there...WTF?
The food was okay at best...we thought it was bland compared to the food at Vidrio where we ate the previous week. We started with the Brie/fig appetizer which was good, then had the ribs which we thought were dry. Then we had the potstickers which were okay but way too pricey for something similar you’d get at Costco. I like the Mac n cheese...my wife thought it was too seasoned and rich. We both thought the fish tacos were extremely bland and wish we had not ordered it. All in all it was barely an ok experience that cost us about $140 for the small bland portions we had with an extremely crappy view. Give Vidrio a shot if you want tapas. I do not see us returning here.More
We had wonderful wine and food. The grilled octopus was one of the best I’ve ever had and paella was as good as the one I’ve had in Spain. Courtney kept us entertained making super fun looking drinks! Super friendly too.
2nd time dining here. “Supertapas” style plates to share with enough food to fill you. We had a melange of choices including fresh fish, octopus, a cheese platter, soba noodles. Fun dessert: flamed our own marshmallows at the table to make smores. Good wine list.
We tried here for Valentine's and did not have a reservation so we were a little surprised they could seat us. The food was really good and the atmosphere was good, but the best was the service. The hostess was very friendly and helpful and...our waiter was great. The executive chef came out and checked on us, hopefully we will eat here again when we are in town.More
