Went here for dinner last Saturday night Good social distancing and mask wearing Waitstaff was prompt I had a bowl of spicy miso ramen and my wife had a shrimp tempura roll Both were good We shared a 20 oz bottle of Japanese beer The...bill was $35 Convenient to our hotel on the downtown walking area Some sketchy people hanging out on the street but I imagine if there were more people out and about it wouldn’t have been as noticeableMore

Sono is the best! For sushi, they have the most flavorful and creative rolls in Raleigh. Everything is always fresh and delicious. The staff are the most attentive I have found in any restaurant. Our server Andrea is absolutely phenomenal. My wife and I come...back every couple of weeks and just can't seem to get enough.More

We stayed in a downtown hotel and had this place in walking distance. The service was great and so was the selections of offerings. We had a little bit of everything. The grilled octopus app was the most tender octopus ever. Really tasty too. My...kids got sushi. This was the best Gyoza (dumplings) we have ever had. Overall Notables, and there were many, were the Yakitori, killer homemade kimchi, Crunchy Diablo (with pickled jalapeños) Shrimp meets Mango (double shrimp and mango) and the #1 fav, the Grand Piano with fresh crab. They also have a great mochi selection with a cool read bean fish shaped dessert with green tea ice cream. We went back the next night for more. The surf and turf is next.More

Great spot for dining with a toddler. My son has recommended based on a visit last week and we decided to try. We live about 60 miles away and it was worth the monthly family dining experience. We had reservations and were seated and served...promptly. We order samplers to include sushi and the KFC all were devine. Most had the miso bowls both with garlic and the spicy and another was ordered the rice with teriyaki chicken. All were excellent choices and will definitely go back. Our server/hostess was a delight also.More

Had never been to sono because friends always spoke against it. Finally one evening I was in the area and decided to try it for myself. The interior is not so Japanese despite the Japanese cuisine, but still it works for downtown Raleigh. Great service,...good menu, decent sake selection. It would not be my go to sushi spot but definitely glad I gave it a try.More

It's a nice modern environment next to the ABC-TV studio (where you can watch the news). Service is relaxed. We shared a salad although it would have been nice for them to split it for us in the kitchen as they did last time we...were here. The edamame was as expected - plenty large for four. We both had the excellent vegetarian ramen that was full of green noodles, what looks like enoki and wood ear mushrooms, tofu, and a split-in-half egg. Delicious! Vegans can ask to skip the egg - the broth is a mushroom broth.More

I was in Raleigh for three nights, and each of those I visited Sono and enjoyed the Veggie Ramen at the bar. The service was perfect and the Ramen was full of flavor and very satisfying. I cannot speak about their other dishes because I...stuck with the Ramen!More

This is our go-to place for a great bowl of ramen. We stared by sharing an excellent greens salad. Then we both had the vegetarian ramen made with a vegan mushroom broth. The thin noodles have kale in them. The bowl includes two types of...mushrooms, bean sprouts, tofu, and two halves of a boiled egg that you can exclude if you are vegan. Service is good.More

The place seemed kind of empty so I was a bit worried, but it was a Thursday night. I did not have to wait so there is a plus. The waitress was very friendly and the environment very appealing. The only drawback was the heat...was on and it was 70 outside. At first I didn’t know if I was going to be able to eat. But I pushed though after some water! The Death By Mule was great! The flight of sake delightful (though the waitress was concerned that I ordered both for my self lol) Sushi: Tuna on Tuna 🙌🏻 Nigiri: Tuna ♥️ Super impressed with the quality of fish. Overall great experience!More
