Best BBQ I have ever eaten, and I eat a lot of it. The portions were huge, we all struggled to finish. The brisket was full of flavour and so tender! Only item that wasn't liked was the bacon ice cream, probably an acquired taste.

All I can say is if you have never been you need to go! Best restaurant in Raleigh by far! My husband and I come here at least twice a month. Neither the food or the service have ever been less than perfect!

If you would like to taste a variety of what North Carolina has to offer in the way of barbecue food, this is the place to go. As a family of five adults, we shared three appetisers and three main courses ("entrees") and had more than enough food for all of us. The barbecue ribs were particularly good but all... More

We were party of 6 and we got mixed experiences with the food. The brisk was dry, the fries were overcooked, I could not taste green tomatoes in the fried green tomatoes appetizer, the Brussels sprouts were so and so, pulled pork was good and the arugula and tomatoes salad was good. Service was fast and waitress was friendly. After... More

Went with family in October of 2011, then again last weekend and we did have a good meal, nice time, etc., we could all see it's starting to decline on some level. My BBQ ribs were amazing and cooked to perfection, but I was rather let down with the "yankee" style green beans. In the south we like our greens... More

When the Pit first opened in Raleigh, it really was a good place to eat with superior BBQ. It has gone downhill in the past few years. The food is now just OK, and the service is just OK. It really is overpriced for what you get. Manager Doug is rude. Just because the restaurant has been featured on TV... More

I know what you're thinking -- who is the meat-hating person and why do the come to such a gloriously delightful house of meats? I'm not a meat hater, I promise. I just come to The Pit because their Mac-N-Cheese is the stuff dreams are made of. It's from heaven and surely made by angels. The same ones who make... More
