Dolly's is right at the entrance to Pisgah Forest. There's always a line to get their ice cream. It's a house with a little walk up window to order from. There are a lot of picnic tables with umbrellas, plus a covered porch with rocking chairs and benches. Nothing better than to end a day of hiking by grabbing a rocking chair and a tall ice cream cone.
What makes the ice cream special is that they have about 15 homemade combos to order from. They are generally named for the local sights and are absolutely wonderful. There are flavors with swirls of peanut butter, chocolate, caramel and so on. One of my favorites has white chocolate chips and raspberry swirls. Considering that there are a lot of little kids here, I'm sure the picky eaters can have a plain vanilla scoop.

We stopped here while on a Carolina Waterfall Tour. Even though it’s right on the side of the road the setting is lovely. The porch has about 10/12 rocking chairs and there are some picnic tables with umbrellas. The ice cream was good but they were out of two flavors. And enjoyable stop.

You can always count on Dolly's to have the perfect ice cream treat. We went in for ice cream cones today and everyone raved about how good they were. I had the pralines and cream. Could very well be the best version of this flavor I've ever had.

They were out of almost all the ice cream flavors & bananas. Strange since you can buy bananas at a grocery store less than 5 minutes away. It is the end of the ice cream eating season so I understand running out of flavors. But wouldn’t it be better to remove the flavors from the menu board?

For over fifteen years this has been our six grandchildren’s favorite outing when visiting ! In the fall, my husband and I went to get a cone and sit on porch in a rocker. The condition of the porch and surrounding area was appalling! Never have I seen such a sticky uncared for mess. It was disgusting. The porch should be washed and cleaned every week at a minimum. The inside also looked half cared for — the young folks waiting on us were less than hospitable. In addition, the wonderful camp flavors seem to be in short supply. Shame on owners!

Stopped by on our way to see some water falls. The ice cream was very good. They were generous portions. Also have a gift shop. Have a variety of soft serve and regular ice cream treats

Great place to visit after a long hike or tubing down the river. Ice cream is fresh and fair priced. Quantities are great too. We had the green river plunge and the ice cream blackberries in it. I love the mom and pop places like this. Real hometown feeling. Nice folks too

Recommended by a local friend. Great dessert after eating across the street at Hawg Wild BBQ and visiting Looking Glass Falls just up the road. Loved the chocolate dipped cone. Too many great flavors to choose from, loved the peanut butter buckeye ice cream.

Located a few miles before heading up to Looking Glass Waterfall, this is a quaint ‘mom and pop’ parlor which I always try to support. The soft serve ice cream provided a refreshing treat.

It was good ice cream but not any more. We went twice this year and were disappointed in the ice cream quality. Chucks of ice and the flavors were not as good as previously. Used to be a favorite but not any more.

All three of us ordered our ice creams but when my triple cup of coffee and cookies and cream was handed to me… it had bright blue watery drips of some other ice cream ALL OVER it so I
showed it to the server who took it back. ….I assumed to be replaced. A rather large young man was using a plastic spoon to scrape the blue (along with a good portion of MY ice cream) of of the dessert. He handed it to me with a “ humpf” - and when I asked if I could have a refund he handed my a five and a one and “humpfed” again even more rudely than the first time. I had paid $6.75 for my ice cream originally . I got back in line and reordered - paid full price- and enjoyed a nice ice cream. Then my wife said “ hey hun, taste this” when I tasted HER ice cream it was obviously flavored with something powdered that he’d never dissolved - so it was like eating very fine sand (highlands high-tide). We have been fans of Dollys for EVER… oh well!

So many flavors, cones, what a sweet treat! I loved relaxing on the front porch watching the passerby's as I relaxed and enjoyed my ice cream!
