Staff is rude and owners refused service to disabled veterans. I will never return to “the spot”. This is totally unacceptable.

We'd driven past here several times and always a crowd, so it was a must stop! We did and were not disappointed. We tried something new and enjoyed every melting drop!!!!

The family stopped by for a treat and it was indeed a treat! The chocolate mint ice cream was spot on and our youngster in the group slurpped up the cotton candy ice cream.

It was a warm, summer evening. As the waves calmed and dinner settled, we found our way taking a short walk down to The Spot for an evening treat. All was well as we made our ice cream selections, but then Nonni, the matriarch of our clan, made an unforgivable mistake. She ordered a smoothie. A hushed silence gripped the room as the tension soared. We, the unaware consumers, were confused. The "head dipper" informed us that they were out of bananas. Phew. That's all. We thought we had nearly stumbled into an alternate dimension. To our feeble, untrained minds, the lack of bananas seemed easily resolvable by a trip to the grocery store (less than a half mile away). Were we ever in for a surprise.
Twenty-four hours later, curiosity got the better of us, and we had to know if they had solved their banana problem. Brief moments later, we had our answer.
As our party entered The Spot, a small bead of sweat formed on the brow of Mr. Big Dipper. As the smoothie order rolled off of our tongues, he spun on his heel, ready with an answer, "sorry, we're out of frozen bananas. We can't even order them off the truck.". Yikes! I had no idea there was a ongoing shortage.
Fortunately, all was not lost. My 11 year old son came to the rescue, "Food Lion is right up the street... And you DO have a freezer, right?"
The line of dippers froze (which would have been really helpful if they had been bananas) as the entirety line of customers burst into laughter at a problem so simple, a child could solve without a second thought. Chagrined, the line of dippers merely blushed and remained silent.
We will likely return to The Spot, it's a convenient to get ice cream. But we will leave the smoothie making to the experts - 11 year olds who can freeze bananas.

This place by far exceeded our expectations. When trying to eat healthy ice cream does not fall into that category (however, this place DOES have ice cream and I am sure it's just as delicious. Hubby tried it and said it was!) But the Acai Bowl was the BOMB!! So satisfying and refreshing. Got the small "Peach Bowl" and portion was more than enough. This was my first time trying this and man I wish I had "The Spot" back home. I would eat these every day!!! I am only sorry we found this on the last day we were there. Seek this spot out as soon as you arrive. It will not disappoint!!!

Excellent smoothie bowls. We visited four times while on vacation. they didn't always get out order right, but the service was very nice.

While visiting OBX, you swim and swim, then swim some more!! The spot is a perfect place to go before or after swimming, even just as an outing itself.
They serve delicious ice cream in all sorts of flavors, including new extravagant ones such as "Better brownie batter." One of us even orderd a smoothie that was exquisite and gone in seconds.
The atmosphere was perfect for an ice cream shop and a joy to eat in!!! We would definitely go again!! - Addy Carney

We went here one night after dinner for a late night snack, and even though they were fairly busy, we were served very quickly. Lots of variety in their ice cream, and everyone’s orders tasted great.

I stop at this place to treat my family to ice cream. Surprisingly, it turned out to be a great option for me too. It has freshly made smoothies and fruit bowls in its menu. Had I know that they offered those options, I would have had breakfast there a couple of times.
My family also enjoyed the ice cream.

The Spot has it all, whether you want a bowl for breakfast or lunch, a yummy smoothie mid day or ice cream at night this place has it all. They make each order by hand & all ingredients are fresh. We go here at least 4 times during the week. Secret Spot Surf Shop is right beside it & that’s the best surf shop in the OBX

This was a fabulous ice cream shop in Nags Head. I had a great flavor of salted banana ice cream. Everyone in my family had a different flavor and all commented on how good it was. Like the name suggests, it really hit the spot! They also have acai bowls and smoothies.

I usually stay in Corolla and go to the The Juice Jar. This place is equally as good. Tried two açaí bowls and a smoothie. I’ll be back to try ice cream in summer!
