At Lone Cedar Café, we specialize in fresh and local Outer Banks seafood. If you're craving the freshest fish, clams, crab, shrimp and oysters from local North Carolina waters, you'll find them at the Lone Cedar Café.
We go every year. Some meals are very good but mostly we get diner quality food and service. I understand that it is hard to get servers but please train the ones that you get. We had a runner, not a server. Basics like asking...if we want drinks from the bar, clearing appetizer plates before bringing entrees, providing fresh cutlery, etc. How hard is it to train in that??? Food was basic and bland. Prices were ok. So it’s fine if you are hungry but keep your expectations low.More
We were very excited to try this restaurant this past week, on our vacation to the Outer Banks. In multiple decades of dining out, my husband and I would both agree that it was by far one of the worst experiences we have ever had....While the view was fantastic (despite a massive thunderstorm the evening we were there), everything else was very poor. Our waitress was unfriendly, and didn't introduce herself or tell us the specials of the day. Meanwhile, every table around us that she went to, she said "Good evening, I'm ________ and here are the specials of the day." My husband got a glass of wine and two beers during the course of our 1 hour and 30 minute+ dinner. All three glasses sat right on the edge of the table until we left. (Very rude of the waitress to not take them away. In fact, our table was overflowing with extra plates.....etc. from appetizers). I asked for a few simple things throughout our visit (extra straws.....etc) and she never came back with anything. When our food arrived, my flounder and mashed potatoes were cold. She took them back and then brought me new food, but all separate! A bowl os potatoes, a bowl of coleslaw and a plate with the flounder. All were brought at different times. Lastly, we wait for ages for a check and to talk to manager. After my husband talked to the manager, he was even more disappointed, because they were not friendly, and didn't appear apologetic. Nothing was offered as far as a discount, or anything. I am not giving this restaurant any stars (although no stars was not an option, so I have to click one), which is disappointing, because as I said, it was a great view. We would absolutely not return.More
We came to this restaurant because we were a large, tired group. This place was one of the few we could get a table quickly. And it was excellent. The Buffalo shrimp was amazing and the crab soup was good. We had an excellent server...in Heather who was patient with our tired kids.More
Nice view of the sound while we had a drink ans waited for a table. The waiter was great. Appetizers came out quickly and the corn bead was very good. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Highly recommend
Recently went to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in The Outer Banks and were very disappointed at both the meal and the service. 3 out of 8 ordered the fish of the day, flounder. When the meal came the flounder was awful, we...told the waitress how disappointed we were in the fish. She went and got the manager, he took $9.00 off one of the meals and removed another from our bill. When we questioned the $9.00, he said "that was the cost of the flounder on the combination."! The service was poor to say the least, she forgot half of what we ordered, told us they were out of the wine on the menu and one of the beers we requested. I think this explains why the restaurant was almost empty on a Saturday night in the height of the season. Won't be returning on our next trip.More
There’s a reason Basnights is the top wedding caterer on the island. Victoria made the entire process so easy! She worked with me through my COVID wedding postponement and reschedule/venue change. She answered my many questions and provided some great advice along the way. The...staff were all so kind and helpful during the wedding. The food, of course, was fantastic! Almost everyone I talk to from the wedding- their comments always include how delicious the seared tuna and bang bang shrimp was. Basnights made sure to pack my husband and I a food box to go to the hotel with us so we had some food to eat once the night ended. I will recommend Basnights to every couple looking for a caterer!More
Another highly rated recommendation from a local magazine. Dropped in before a night kayak trip.
The service is really good and very attentive.
We were early and waited at the bar for our table. Bartenders were super helpful and friendly. Drinks were up quick.
Tried...the She Crab Soup for an appetizer and it was the best crab soup I have ever tasted. Crab in every bite. So good. My wife had the Caesar Salad which was pretty standard.
Main course I had Shrimp and Grits. It was very well cooked and creamy. Delicious.
My wife and daughter had the Soft Shell Crab Pasta. The crab was great and the fixings were good but it lacked sauce or flavor. The squid ink noodles were very plain. On a whole it was disappointing and very plain.More
