Recently my wife and I decided on a Friday night on the Outer Banks to grab a impromptu dinner .Summer weekends without reservations landed us at 2 different restaurants that we like but both were over an hour wait.Since we had other plans later that evening we decided to try Basnight's Lone Cedar Café.We had not been there for awhile... We visited here last year and it was so good we had to come back! This year we started with a scallop wrapped in prosciutto and some local clam chowder. For our meal, we had crab cakes and local shrimp with a grit cake. The shrimp were so fresh and delicious they required no sauce whatsoever. The crab cake was... More

Very plain view from the road belies the refined interior. Staff is warm and friendly. Mr Basnight was a fisherman apparently before he founded the restaurant. The seafood on the menu lists the fishermen who caught the fish, very nice touch. We had crabcakes which were super, best I've had, no filler that we could see. I don't know how... More

This was recommended to us and oh how glad we listened! It started with a great waitress Carolyn, she was very friendly and very attentive. We saw a dolphin from our table and she was as delighted as we were. We had the blackened speckled trout and stuffed flounder. Both were great! Oh yeah she crab soup is awesome! Plus... More

We were just married at Basnight's on August 18th. Unfortunately for us there was a huge storm right when we were to use the beautiful outdoor area. We relocated to the covered patio and had a time to remember. The staff was very accommodating. The manager (we never did get his name in all the action) was great and said... More

Basnight's Lone Cedar Café catered my sister's wedding at Jennette's Pier. They were incredibly helpful as they have catered at this venue many times and I was planning the wedding from out of town. Their staff was professional, their food was delicious and they were so kind to all of our guests. I would use them again and again!

Amazing food. All food comes from local area. They have gardens on sight and what they do not grow they have out sources to local farms. Seafood comes directly from OBX coast. Beautiful landscaping!

We used Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe to cater a dinner for 8 adults at our rental home in OBX. Jason (our personal chef) was wonderful. Everyone is still talking about how amazing the food was!

This year the three couples in our group ate our anniversary dinner at Basnight's. We have been here many times in the past and have never had a bad meal. The cornbread basket was a yummy start to the dinner. Two of our group had the crab bisque with sherry and it was delicious! The strawberry viniagrette is the main... More

Description
At Lone Cedar Cafe, we specialize in fresh and local seafood. If you're craving the freshest fish, clams, crab, shrimp and oysters from local North Carolina waters, you'll find them at the Lone Cedar Cafe. For generations, Outer Banks families made their livings - and their daily meals - from the bounty of local waters, caught fresh every day. Our family, the Basnights, were part of that history, and we continue the tradition today by serving only the freshest Outer Banks seafood, caught in local waters and brought to our docks daily by local fishermen, then cleaned and prepared right here at the Lone Cedar Cafe. Our vegetables are "just picked" from North Carolina farms, we serve only all-natural beef and poultry and even our herbs and greens are grown in our own chemical-free garden on-site. Come enjoy delicious food, gorgeous sunsets and panoramic water views, the antics of our resident ospreys and our warm Southern hospitality.
