Great place to dine if you like good food, a view of the ocean and great service. No reservations, but only waited 10 minutes to be seated. Excellent booth right by the window with an ocean view. If you have to wait there is a beautiful gazebo right on the water to have a drink and wait for your table.

My family and I traveled down to Nags Head from New England for me and my fiancé (now husband) to get married in Kill Devil Hills, the woman who married us recommended this restaurant because we were not familiar with the area. It was such a great experience from start to finish! We called the manager and gave them a... More

We first tried this restaurant in Sept 2009 and I wrote a review on TA of our disappointing meal. We had not been back again until this fall because of that experience. The parking lot is always crowded, so we knew lots of people like this place. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table during the 3rd... More

The seafood was really good. Very busy place during warm months. I would go back. Everything we had was delicious. Staff is very accommodating and helpful. I would encourage reservations. Children may not be too happy with having to wait to get their food and a place to sit.

We never leave the beach without going to Tale of The Whale, we were seated overlooking the water which is always a plus. Everyone in our party got a different meal but shared and we all agreed, we couldn't decide whose was the best! Their She crab soup is my favorite, full of tender crab, creamy and smooth. I had... We had dinner with our family ,in all. The food was good . The service was average, they ran out of some dinner entrees. A little expensive , would probably not go back.

Just returned from another great weekend on the Outer Banks of NC. SO glad we only live about an hour and a half away and can take advantage of quick trips there all throughout the year. Dined again at Tale of the Whale. Was as crowded or moreso than during the summer which was really surprising but sitting outside on... More

I'm all about environment and service and it is very ideal. They sat us right next to a line of windows over looking the ocean at sunset and it was gorgeous although a little cloudy. The service was superb. My only complaint is it is pricey and probably shouldn't be. The quality of food was on par with the red... More

The meal was great, the portions are large. The service was great and the bar area where we sat was a little noisy at times but was manageable. Try the crab cakes and the flounder.
