We had dinner with our family ,in all. The food was good . The service was average, they ran out of some dinner entrees. A little expensive , would probably not go back.

Just returned from another great weekend on the Outer Banks of NC. SO glad we only live about an hour and a half away and can take advantage of quick trips there all throughout the year. Dined again at Tale of the Whale. Was as crowded or moreso than during the summer which was really surprising but sitting outside on... More

I'm all about environment and service and it is very ideal. They sat us right next to a line of windows over looking the ocean at sunset and it was gorgeous although a little cloudy. The service was superb. My only complaint is it is pricey and probably shouldn't be. The quality of food was on par with the red... More

The meal was great, the portions are large. The service was great and the bar area where we sat was a little noisy at times but was manageable. Try the crab cakes and the flounder.

We had 5 adults, 2 toddlers and 1 baby....normally a recipe for disaster! The restaurant was full of similar parties and they strategically seat you to make sure everyone has a pleasant experience. The service was very good and those that ordered the specials thought they were outstanding. In that the restaurant can be very busy, if you call in... More

My family (a party of 10) went for dinner while on vacation this past week. The restaurant does not take reservations, so we arrived at 5 when they opened. There was already a line, but it did not take long before we were seated. Hint - take advantage of the 20% discount between 5pm-6pm. Everyone in my group raved about... More

We visited this restaurant on a Friday night. The 45 minute wait was well worth it. Matt, our waiter was excellent. The special was MahiMahi Oscar. The fish was fresh with a generous portion of lump crabmeat in a delicious Hollandaise sauce. The owner stopped by the table to inquire as to our satisfaction with our meal. That was a... More

There were 9 of us at a lovely table with a magnificent view of the water. Our waitress rattled off all the specials so fast we had to ask her to repeat some of them. The food was great with the exception of the filet which was tough. The waitress rushed us thru the meal seeming anxious for us to... More

This restaurant was exactly what I had in mind for dinner. My girlfriend and I were scheduled for a private charter cruise on a 41' sailboat in Manteo. During the cruise and at sunset, I planned to propose marriage. This restaurant fit the occasion perfectly. She said yes to marriage and the restaurant delivered a spectacular meal after our cruise.... More

This is the second time I've had a meh experience with my food here, and he had a great one. I guess I'm just ordering the wrong things. The atmosphere here is wonderful and there was no wait like I was used to from days of in-season visits here. Our waitress was very nice and even though we were set... More
