The menu had a variety of items to choose from, we wanted Seafood, our son who is 5 didn't and it catered to all of us. The beer was great, the portions plentiful and the taste on point. We would definitely return. We arrived at 5pm exactly when the opened and good thing we did because within 15 mins. it... More

Breakfast, Friday, Aug 19, 2016. Loved the quaint, old Nags Head feel of this place. Especially loved the view from seats at the large front windows. Gave us the feeling we were in an OBX of years ago. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was good, but nothing to write home about. They do roast their own coffee,... More

I would like to thank you for dining with us. As for your review or should I say your opinion it is yours to have and is not in the majority. I'm not sure exactly what all was eaten in your party but all of our food is prepared to order and made fresh daily with the best ingredients and... More

Great seafood (small portion tho), horrible cole slaw & they ran out of cocktail sauce. What seafood restaurant runs out of cocktail? Good food family said overall tho.

Hello and thanks for dining with us.. I Can't really comment on your opinion because I'm not exactly sure what you actually ordered. As for our coleslaw we get compliments about it all the time and sell pounds of it. I cannot be sure who told you we ran out of our homemade cocktail sauce because we make gallons of... More

Cute decor was this place had going for it. Paid $5.99 for one of those refrigerated canned biscuits and about two cups if gravy from a mix. I ordered a $2.75 side of bacon; the menu talked it up as thick sliced, Applewood smoked, but it was thin enough to read the newspaper through and tasteless as a newspaper too.... More

Well Jim, thanks for stopping in to see us but you are wrong on two accounts. Our biscuits are made fresh everyday by us and our bacon is thick sliced applewood smoked. If you weren't satisfied with the food you should have immediately said something to your server. Also the majority of other reviews would seem to contradict your experience.... More

We stopped by this restaurant late in the evening and very hungry. We had excellent food - shrimp, crab, and more. Kandice, our waitress, was patient with us and had great suggestions. Because we had children and were eating late, she quickly brought out our salads. She helped with menu suggestions for one of our daughters who has a special... More

We were not sure where we were going to eat and after driving past several very busy restaurants we spotted this place. It was very comfortable and not nearly as busy. The dinner options were plentiful and gave us a great choices for kids and mom and dad. The restaurant was very clean and helpful. It was a nice option... More

Nice atmosphere, no wait on a Wednesday in August at 6:30, good food. Good stop on the way to jockeys ridge. Crab cakes and fried pickles were a hit.

Service was excellent at this small local café. Everyone was friendly, the place was spotless, and the food was amazing. We're actually going back again this morning!

I stopped in for a drink and a late lunch on a Saturday. The place was dead, maybe one table. The bartender was really friendly. Food was good, a little pricey, but that is to be expected for the location.

Old Nags Head Cafe continues the Roderer family tradition of the great food and Outer Banks North Carolina hospitality we've been offering Nags Head restaurant diners since 1985. Housed in the historic Harris Grocery store on the beach road that served vacationers up until the late 70s, our café's easy-going, beachy atmosphere provides the perfect setting for a gathering of friends or a quiet evening. We like how one of our guests described us, "The restaurant/bar has a very neighborhood feel but is classier than your standard beach seafood shack. Lots of wood paneling and a tasteful amount of local flavor make it a great place for a low key night or casual date." We do strive to make you feel like you're a long-time local, even if it's your first visit, with our friendly servers and easy-going style. That's the way a Nags Head restaurant should be! Complementing our surroundings is a menu that's setting a standard for Nags Head restaurants. Enjoy traditional and contemporary Southern dishes as well as the best in fresh local seafood, chicken, chops, hand-cut Angus beef, pasta, soups, salads, sandwiches, daily specials and homemade desserts. We've been told you can't come to this place without experiencing fried green tomatoes or shrimp and grits! While you're dining, your view is of Nags Head's row of unpainted aristocratic cottages, summer homes that were the first to establish the Outer Banks of North Carolina as a vacation destination. You're also across from the iconic Jockey's Ridge. Old Nags Head Cafe also has a full-service bar with an extensive beer and wine list, and we're happy to accommodate your take-out order.
