We are on vacation in Murphy NC and went in Valley River Brewery on a Sunday afternoon noon. We ordered a 14” pizza and craft beer. Pizza was Amazing!! Perfect crust, lots of cheese and a great waitress to help us navigate the area. She told us they have a pizza special on Thursday, 5 toppings for the same price as the plain cheese. We took a scenic drive around the area on Thursday with the express intention of arriving back to o Murphy for Pizza. We had our dog with us so had to order pizza to go. They only allow service dogs. We were about 12 minutes from our rental cabin. Pizza was still perfect when we arrived. We are food snobs ( I’m a pretty good cook). Valley River Brewery gets at the very least Five Stars!

Went there for Craft Beer and Pizza and was very happy with both. The waitress let us try a few sample so we were able to pick a beer we liked. We ordered a Pizza and said double cheese and the waitress said there was no reason to order double cause there would be plenty.....she was right plenty of cheese. I would recommend this place

Stopped in on a Sunday evening on a whim. I love pizza but not wood fired pizza. Got the pizza anyway….it was delicious. Tons of cheese, crust didn’t taste burnt/wood fired at all. I can’t wait to go back and try another pizza. My friend got a hamburger well done. She said it was a little dry, but that’s to be expected well done. Hamburger had a good flavor. Our waiter, Nick, was excellent. Friend also had onion rings that were good. We shared triple chocolate cake— a little dry…not my favorite….still decent. We will be back the next time we are in town.

Went in expecting more than I got. Food was ok at best, my daughters quesadilla was soaked in grease and my fries were limp and stale tasting. The beer I ordered had a clear chemical taste, like they didn't flush their beer lines properly. Service was somewhat rushed and rude. You could tell the poor servers are overworked and don't care if anyone enjoys anything. I know this place gets great reviews, but not sure if we'd try again.

Pizza had too much cheese; so much in fact that bottom was burned and cheese was not even hot. Selections of beers on tap was good and our server was fun. Odd were suggested tips on the bill - 25, 30 and 40%. Since when 25% tip has been minimum tip? We did tip 25% only because our waitress was very good. Otherwise I would have tipped 15%.

This place was recommended by the Murphy tourism place opposite. My not so young son is a fussy eater but likes pizza, and these use traditional wood burning ovens. The results are great. The beer and cider selection is cool and tastes great. So much so that we took a 'growler' back to the rental! Good beer, good food and the service excellent, you can not go wrong!

My husband and I vacationing in Murphy stopped here late afternoon. The service at the bar was great, Joe was awesome! We ordered an appetizer chicken and vegetable quesadilla to share which was delicious while my husband enjoyed a couple of the local craft beers. Since we enjoyed it so much we stayed a while and ordered a pizza, also amazing. Definitely would return and recommend them.

I have been traveling to Murphy for spring break the past 5 years, and we have always stopped in at Valletta River Brewery. Service has always been wonderful, and the food was always tasting great. Even last year when everyone went into lockdown, we were able to call in our pizza order, pick it up, and take it to our cabin. This year we came, ordered our food, and waited. My pretzel with beer cheese was delicious as always. I ordered a Philly steak and cheese, no onion, with fries. The Philly was not very flavorful and almost halfway through, I bit into an onion. The 2nd half had onions all in it. I didn't finish eating, just put it to the side. When asked if I wanted a to go box, I said no and explained why. Waitress later said she informed her manager. I absolutely do not mind paying for my food, as I ate half of it, but an apology would have been nice

Great service, food, beer and apps. Don’t let the appearance fool you. We started to leave because at first, it felt like a brewery with bar food. Not the case at all. Being in the pizza biz, I am a hard critic of pizza. The dough, sauce and ingredients come together perfectly. Def recommend date night, lunch or dinner spot if you craving a good pizza & beer! Many brews to choose from. We ordered a Greek salad and it had over 10 ingredients which you don’t find very often. Dressing was also wonderful!

Prior to Covid we had eaten here several times and really like the pizza along with the taco salad!! After being seated for a bit I had to go ask the waitress if we could be waited on as it seemed no one was interested in taking our order!! The waitress was very nice that took our order and seemed like the only one around there who really cared. The pizza was all cheese and very bland. Even the breadsticks weren’t that good. I couldn’t detect if it was the seasonings or the sauce you dipped them in, but the breadsticks didn’t taste good. We drove 30 minutes to get here but after today will not be back. It’s bad when the best part of your meal is the coke and tea!! Just disappointing!!

First off, service was good, although we never saw our waitress again after she dropped off the food until my husband walked to the bar to ask for our check. We went on a Sunday evening after fishing and no one was there minus a couple of guys at the bar. There wasn’t much to the menu but after hearing the specials I chose one of those and my husband got a pizza. I ordered the flounder over seafood with a kale and broccoli salad. I was told the fish was pan cooked and then finished off in their wood oven. Sounds good right? Wrong. It was the worst meal I’ve literally ever had. The fish tasted like old freezer or just bad fish. It was totally dried out and had bland bread crumb on top. The “seafood” was an indescribable brown patty that also tasted weird. I tried to figure out what it was and took several bites, but it was just gross and salty. The broccoli and kale salad was equally horrible. I could not figure out what the taste was- just bad. My husband said it tasted like sweetened Elmer’s glue dressing with off tasting green stuff. That was pretty close. His pizza was okay- I ate most of the toppings since I couldn’t eat my dinner, but he wasn’t too thrilled with it. They took it off the ticket so that was appreciated. Not sure if this was just a bad night or what.

Wanted to try some local craft beer and of course pizza makes a nice pairing. We did a white base with mozzarella spinach and their homemade meatballs. Crazy good! Enjoyed their Green Dragon ESB. Enjoyed the historical pictures lining the walls and their nod to veterans. Fast food delivery … service was excellent

Just wanted to go out and have a good beer, burger and fries. Well the beer was good (not great), the fries were good, but the burger had no taste seasoning and the buns were ice cold as if they had just come out of the fridge. People say this place is more well known for its pizza, perhaps we should’ve ordered that. When we asked our hamburger buns be warmed or toasted, we were advised that the cook refused to do that. Don’t think they ever heard of seasoning or Montreal steak spice for meat. Did not really want to dictate this review, hoping the owners will read it and effect some changes, I think the place has good potential but needs some informed guidance.

Thank you for stopping in, I'm sorry you did not enjoy your visit with us. We have a very small kitchen but we do you top grade ingredients, 81/19 angus burger fresh never frozen and we bake our buns fresh every morning with no preservatives. We use a very lite amount of seasoning salt on the burger but are very happy to put our blackening season on it if you wish a bolder flavor, the buns are kept on the cool side of the kitchen not the refrigerator,to help keep the humidity down, especially on brewing days, the grill is too small to toast the buns and the microwave makes them rubbery but, we are happy to put the top of the bun on while still on the grill to warm it a bit. Thank you for your input, hope this was helpful for the future visitors to get their perfect burger experience.

Our first time to VRB and the lunch was fantastic. My godfather ordered the cheeseburger, which he claimed was as good as it gets. My partner went for the quesadilla, which in her words "was the perfect size, right amount of cheese and had a great sauce." I took Ashley's (great server!) recco to have the minestrone soup. Overall a terrific first time and we shall return.

Awesome food and great service. I had the burger with fries ($2 extra) and a side of Tzatziki. Burger was thick, juicy, well-seasoned, and well cooked. Tzatziki was worth the $1 to go with the fries. My wife had a 10" pepperoni pizza. Lots of pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. Pizza sauce is thick, rich and hearty.
