I have been here twice for lunch (since that is mainly when it is open--- check the hours before you go!!) and it always hits the spot. Again, it is NOT FANCY. The smell will hit you as soon as you pull in the parking lot--- smoked MEAT. YUM! They offer several options--- pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, wings and... More

Nothing terribly bad to say about this place...and yet I have nothing overly great to offer either. The BBQ portions were small and given that it tasted average I see that as a good thing. The price to portion ratio is poor. They only have two sauces to jazz up their BBQ. With so many other places offering larger portions... More

I was in the mood for barbecue, so tried Smokey's for the first time today. I ordered the pulled pork plate with two sides. I thought the pulled pork was pretty bland, but the Brunswick stew was spiced well and served hot. The sweet potato tater tots and hush puppies were tasty, too. The service was quick, but note that... More

First, what is offensive. This place has signs all over the walls, mainly redneck macho stuff ("$5 fine for whining," "La De Frickin' Da," definition of Jack Schitt, etc). It's fine, but one sign, on the counter no less (see photo) is really offensive. Enough people have been the victims of sexual harassment, or know someone who has, that this... More

Smokey's is fantastic. Pulled Pork was exceptional and the Fried Okra was some of the best I've ever had. On top of all that, it's a quick trip off the road on the way back to the airport, with several routes for getting back, and a gas station close by for topping off a rental. Leave yourself a few minutes... More

Out of the way location, limited hours, paper & plastic dinnerware, picnic area out back, incredible flavors. What more can one ask? anyway, delicious lunch today at Smokeys. Good meat, good sides, all washed down with sweet tea!

Tasty local BBQ shack. Limited seating inside, but there are a bunch of outdoor picnic tables in a grove out back. If the weather is good, that's the place to be! Menu has classic BBQ choices. I ordered the pulled pork platter. Nice moist pork, spicy(but not too spicy) sauce, very good hush puppies, fried okra just the way they... More

I love a barbeque place that tells you where they buy their wood- no fake smoke taste here. Had a large, delicious chopped pork sandwich with Brunswick stew as a delicious lunch combo. You place your order at the inside counter and then walk your tray to one of the tables just inside the front door. Simple small place- clean... More

We left winter yesterday in NJ and headed to North Carolina on our way to Florida. After a long drive, we arrived at our hotel in Raleigh surrounded by the same restaurant chains we have in NJ. We were looking for a different experience and Smokey's provided a North Carolina dining experience. From the pulled pork, the fried okra, the... More

Sloppy, yummy, huge pulled pork, brisket or chicken sandwich. Also, ribs and traditional sides. Bonus: sweet potato tator tots. It's a "shack" so don't expect much for atmosphere ;)
