We just had to visit Sanitary as it was a place Erik used to visit as a kid. He said it looked and smelled the same. I found the drinks to be fine and the hush puppies actually good! It's fun to sit out on the deck and watch the world go by. We didn't stay for dinner but the... More

I wish I had listened to the ratings and not gone. Hubby and I got the fried seafood platter. I got trout shrimp oysters. Hubby got flounder shrimp and oysters. I honestly can't say one positive thing except the trout was ok. Hubby's flounder was overcooked and dry. Oysters were truly tasteless. Shrimp were small breaded and again had very... More

This is a very popular restaurant with slightly overpriced average seafood. Plus a surly waitress. We had lunch which was lunch sized portions of popcorn shrimp and halibut. Ate on the deck which is better covered now. It has a nice view of an active boat channel. It is must try place. After all it is very popular. Don't forget... More

When I first moved to the area everyone told me I need to go to "Sanitary" Frankly the name was a turn-off but the restaurant and the meal was great.

The service was good! We enjoyed the views of the water. Seafood we ordered was just average except for the sea scallops which were exceptional.

I took my family there while visiting in August based on the recommendation of another vacationer who frequented the area and said the Sanitary was famous throughout NC and had the best seafood. So I took them there for dinner on our last night in the area - it was so unremarkable. I ordered crab cakes because the menu said... More
