Not a 4.5 star restaurant. The staff was friendly but our meal took forever to come out - if they were shorthanded in the kitchen they didn’t let us know. The food was average. We had the bruschetta and calamari to start. Both were ok...but not excellent. The chicken for the chicken piccata was tough- it needed to be pounded more. The seafood stew/pasta was also just ok. The shrimp scampi was good.More

My wife and I have been to Italy 5 times and San Carlo's is just like the best in Italy. The owner is a trained chef from great restaurants in France & New York. Born in Sorrento, Italy. Wonderful man and staff. Hope you get...Erica. We both had the veal. My wife had veal marsala and I had the veal parm. Perfect, not too much sauce but great taste. Looking for great Italian bread as well, it's here as well. Best in North Carolina and we have been in many places in Wilmington, Raleigh etc. They are open at night but double check they are open most days for lunch as well. We stopped in after the beach. The restaurant is about 10 minutes from Atlantic Beach. Give it a try, you will go back again and again.More

Looked forward to dining out. 30 minutes after arriving we still hadn’t even met our server. Drink less, with nothing better to do than watch a server obviously on drugs, we decided to leave. We decided to order takeout the following week, since we hadn’t...had the chance to try the food. Another waste of time and money. I’ll be making my Italian food from home next time. The sauce coming out of the jar will be better.More

Because of the virus, we chose to do take-out here. This was well advised because the obviously overworked staff did not use masks. The owner was skeptical about vaccinations. The two entrees did not carry-out well. The spinac soup was very good as was the...limoncello cake. The normally excellent garlic bread did not travel well either. We hope to return here when the virus ends, if ever.More

Delightful evening. Food was first rate. Had baked ziti, house salad, ravioli with cheese balls, and 2 bar drinks. Their bread and oil/vinegar is so good. I couldn't eat half of my ziti - a huge plate. They were busy on a Wednesday. But the...atmosphere was cozy, warm, romantic.More

Wanted to try this place and finally went - it was delicious! Great wait staff, helpful , friendly - dishes were large and we should have split the pasta dish. We had the calamari; bruschetta, Pescatore alla Sorrento (will split this next time). Had a...bit of Tiramisu - awesome meal! Good wine recommendations / Will not be our last trip here!More

Excellent Italian. Good service and lengthy menu and wine list. They try to please customers and will right any wrongs that may occur.

with a slight caveat... ordered an assorted of food for 6.... The food didn't 'look' all that good, and looked like something poured from an old Pizza Hut. But it tasted delicious. Was really, really good. There was one caveat of a piece of scrubbing...brush found in one of the meals, but I brought it to the managers attention, and he was most attentive of our concerns.More

Exceptional food prepared very well. They have a talented chef and wonderful wait staff. We had 15 individuals so very hard on a small restaurant. Every person raved about food. Staff were so great to our group and we stayed a while. A “must visit”...for a nice dinner when visiting Atlantic Beach.More

Veal parmigiana came to my table and it looked like a slab of meat. Delicious meat. The sauce was excellent. Did not care for the bow tie noodles. Finished off the meal with lemon cake

My wife and I enjoyed a phenomenal meal there. The atmosphere, the bread, the wine, the food and the dessert were all first class in every respect. Our server, Jimmy, was excellent and we enjoyed an extraordinary dining experience.

Excellent food. We were very pleased to find it open for lunch. Great atmosphere, and the food was first rate with lots of different choices. The chef has cooked all over the world and Morehead City is lucky to have him. We wouldn't hesitate to...come back here again. A special way to end vacation week. Definitely a cut above your average Italian restaurant.More
