We used to live in Matthews and would go here fairly regularly. We did like it as it was priced good and food was good standards. Our last visit it was horrible. Not sure if they were just busy or change in chef. The salmon tasted frozen out of the box under cooked and everything else was watery tasteless. Don't... More

We had a Thanksgiving meal at Cafe 157. Service was slow, and at moments, thoughtless. Like taking away someone's plate without asking, with prime rib remaining, not thinking to ask about dessert choices then going back to the subject. The waiter was a cultured sounding man, but a bit brusque. And the service quite slow. The ambience is dark --... More

We have eaten here before and were very satisfied. On a recent visit for lunch, however, I was not. The "lump" crab cake sandwich looked and tasted like ground Asian crab with fillers, not lump backfin crab meat. I chose not to complain due to the fact that we had guests with us. I regret this now. I would not... More

Good food which was cooked well. Sometimes service can be hit or miss. The starters to our meal with the hummas was excellent. Good quiet place to eat and relax.

Ate with my 2 sisters and ordered the pork tenderloin medallions. They were cooked to perfection and were moist and tender. The gravy was excellent as were the mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. My sisters were happy with their meals of a hamburger and a salad with fried shrimp, We would all definitely come back.

We had 2 very good meals out of a three day visit to the Matthews area. Both steaks and seafood dishes were well prepared as empty plates were present around the table. The dinner "special", pan seated scallops were perfectly cooked as was the steaks trimmed with a light mushroom sauce. When visiting an area while traveling we always try... More

The lemon drop martini was fantastic-nice balance between tart and sweet. I had the crab cakes with rice and roasted veggies. Delicious! No shell in the crab cakes and not too much breading. The rice was not sticky and very flavorful, and the roasted veggies were excellent. My Mom had the fried chicken and said it was the best she... More

Popped in here for lunch today with the intention of keeping it simple and not overeating as is entirely possible in any US restaurant! Decided to go for a starter each: spinach/artichoke dip - very good: calamari with courgette fritters also very good. Both the right size for a light lunch. The squid was just as I liked it: not... My wife and I needed a place to eat before we saw a show on Saturday night. Tripadvisor said this was a great place. We drove into a mostly empty parking lot about 7:00 pm. There were a few people at the bar and one couple eating dinner. Weren't sure we made the right decision. Restaurant was advertised as American... More

This was a very nice little restaurant in an old converted bank. It's in quaint downtown Matthews. Service was a little slow but the food more than made up for it. The fish and chips was fantastic. My business associates had the buttermilk fried chicken and it looked and tasted amazing. Cool little place that i will eat at again.
