What an awesome place this is! We were so impressed. The menu is American fare - burgers, barbecue and the like. I got their biscuit sandwich and my husband got their pork sliders. Yummy, yummy, yummy!! My favorite things about this place are: the kid/senior menu for about $5 (what a great deal!), the buddy board, the ambience, service and cleanliness. It’s so great for seniors to be able to order a great meal at a great price. It definitely shows respect for a person over 60. The buddy board is where someone can pay it forward and buy another person a lunch. The service is friendly and the place is so clean that the silverware sparkles. Portions are generous and delicious. Highly recommend!!!

Great meal every time

We love the brisket and the ribs at Stack House. The staff are very friendly and careful with COVID restrictions. They bring the food to your car and always make sure you have all the supplies. My husband loves the Barnard burger. We would love to visit when we can sit at a table and enjoy the local flavor they have to offer.

great food and service

One evening we werent in teh mood to drive to Asheville for food so we looked locally to see what is good and stubbled on this gem. It is located nextto two other restaurants, a mexican one and an italian one. I opted for this one since they were very welcoming. The place was busy but we were greeted and offered menus ( for take out) promptly. The waitress took time to aswer any questions we had even tho she was slammed...and also gave us recommendations. We placed our order and opted for a beer while we waited. She was very attentive and the bartender also came by and checked on us. The food we saw being served looked amazingly delicious and everyone was pleased with their food. When we got ours and got back to our cabin, we were shocked how good the food was and the portions were good. Wings were huge and tasty, the burger was amazingly good. Highly recommend this place for dinner.

Disappointing

We went with our friends who had been here before and liked it. My husband and I ordered the 6 oz burgers and asked for medium well. The burgers were too dry and the bun looked liked someone had smashed it, although we didn’t order them smashed. The buns then deteriorated quickly and I left half of mine on the plate. Service was slow and several times the lights went out which didn’t help. The only positive was the Mac and cheese side dish which was delicious. Probably won’t return.

The decline of a once great restaurant

It makes me sad to give such a poor review but at this point I have to say something. When I first went here a few years ago the food was amazing and the staff was great. I can’t say the same now. Getting a Togo order in can be next to impossible, servers can be hit or miss with their service and the food is currently downright horrible. My brother and I each ordered a fried chicken sandwich today, paid like 15ish dollars and got a charred mess. I even tipped 20% for someone to look at this sandwich and say “good enough”. I would not recommend anyone go here until they clean up their act. I don’t mind paying high prices for sandwiches when they’re good and I want to support local business but this feels a little like robbery since it was completely inedible. This has happened the last few times we decided to “give stackhouse another shot” and at this point you’ve lost our business. Just to show I am being fair, I’ve included a picture of the sandwich I received (first photo) and one of what the sandwich should look like (2nd photo)

Shocking. Cold food

Shocking. 1 Star is 1 too many. Ordered Brisket & it was so cold it was almost frozen. Wife had Chicken Tenders and again it was freezing. Waitresses took it away expecting a new dish.. but NO, same dish heated in some sort of cold oven that didn't heat it at all. Just made the Chips even soggier than before. Onion ring was rank. Pretty sure it was a dish made the day before and re served. So disappointed. It was that bad I didn't even take a photo of it as I don't want to see it again

Use to be our favorite!

Stack house use to be our favorite restaurant in town. In my opinion the restaurant has slowly gone downhill. The smoked brisket use to be AWESOME. It is now dry and tough. The burgers are never cooked the same way twice. The Mac and cheese is with delicious or too dry. AND the restaurant front is disgusting. Old signs taped to the window and the curtains are filthy and never hang straight. And now you can’t even get a beer there anymore. Get your act together Stackhouse before you lose more long time customers.

$20 for cold food

My first time in town and decided to try Stack House. They informed me it would take 40 min for food. I decided to wait. Got my food and headed back to my Airbnb which was only 15 min away-all the food was cold. The sides (Mac n cheese & Beans) were refrigerator cold. Wtf? Mind you-they add in gratuity to your bill & I added extra. Not worth the time or money spent!

Number One Burger in W.N.C.

Quite possibly the best burger most of us will ever have. Upon a recent husband/wife tour of burger restaurants within 20 miles of the Asheville area, simply to find what we thought was the 'Best Burger" not rating anything else. This restaurant was number 1. The absolute best buger, cooked to perfection, not soggy, not hard, not over-cooked, just featured the beef. This was the best. Great job, guys.

This review for last few visits. Things getting back to how they used to be.

We enjoy eating lunch and dinner at the bar. We really like all the waitresses as they are friendly and deliver good service. We had noticed things kind of going down a bit. for past 6 mos or so. Meals really salty and not cooked as ordered, but last 2 visits have improved so that is good. Somewhat concerning that they did not have any wine, bottles or cans. I know it is a beer place, but I prefer wine. We will wait awhile until we return. Hoping just a hiccup as we really enjoy the atmosphere and staff.

Great BBQ in the mountains

This was a great decision to go here last night. The service was a little slow but it was worth the wait. My wife got the brisket and I got the pork BBQ. It was outstanding and lots of it. The sides were very good also. We lived in Texas 17 years so we know what good BBQ taste and this rivaled the Texas BBQ. I highly recommend it.

It used to be our favorite place…

We used to come here all the time. It’s gone downhill over the past year. They haven’t had beer since last summer. The kitchen can’t seem to get the food out. The wait is ridiculous and the food isn’t even that hot when it does finally come out. I’m sad to say that we’re done.

Delicious food. Great service.

My son played a baseball game at Mars Hill University, so we stopped by here after. The servers were extremely nice. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Portions were huge and we could’ve shared a lot of dishes. No alcohol is served here—not an issue, but some diners might want to know. We would definitely return here. Delicious food at a great price.

Mars Hill Gem

An overnight in Mars Hill led us to this gem. The restaurant did an excellent job with social distancing and service was prompt and friendly. Our food was reasonably priced and delicious. If you are in the area and hungry this is the place to go to.

Nice dinner with friends

Chrissy/Christel? was our sweet waitress. She was prompt with a welcome and great attitude. Nice choices on menu. 3 had the Chicken Wings special and my favorite, Max Patch in a bowl. Great hand made veggie burger. This is a go to place for lunch or dinner. Service is always good as well as the food. Convenient parking on street.
