Back to basics, simply delicious

I love it back to basics, simple food at a reasonable price for the beach. Pretty straight forward hotdogs, hamburgers, fish sandwiches stuff of that nature how can you go wrong it doesn’t have to be fancy to be good and this place is good. Staff is real friendly and helpful and the places are you beachy interior with Spanky everywhere. This was our first trip there I love their hamburgers. I’ll be back for more I also tried one of their $.89 hotdogs and it was deep-fried I’ve never had a deep fried well I’m here to tell you it was delicious. The place is simple the food is simple and it was a great time will be back. Don’t forget to try their homemade buffalo hot sauce, Yum.............

Simple, good food, great service.

It's a hot dog place, but it's a very good hot dog place. When we were there I think the cashier was the owner. I didn't see chili dog on the menu and asked and he said, "Oh, sure, we can do that!" My hubby got a foot long dog; we both got fries and soft drinks. The interior was very clean and well- spaced out tables. A bus-boy also made a good waiter making sure we had plasticware for our food and straws for our drinks. The overall sense was of a small local restaurant where the staff really cared about good service and customer satisfaction.

Spankalicious!!!

Spanky’s is always our family’s first stop for lunch when we arrive in OBX. The customer service is so welcoming. You really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. I recommend the Deli Burger. It’s a 1/4 lb burger topped with a 1/4 lb of Pastrami. I got a side of their tater tots. Amazing! Don’t forget to get a cold beer to go with it! Great service & food!

First time visit

First time visit and we were glad that we came for late lunch. The food as we’ll as service were excellent. There were at least 20 different specials along with the standard menu. We will come back before we leave for a second visit. Just be aware of their hours.

Disappointed it was only average!

Our burgers were hot and fresh but terribly boring. Bland and way over cooked. My order came out wrong and left a bad taste in my mouth. Literally. However, the tater tots were some of the best we have ever eaten at a restaurant. Very very friendly service.

Really good!

We had lunch here upon arriving at the beach. My husband had the fried flounder sandwich with fries and I had a burger and onion rings. Everything was delicious. The place was small and half the tables were roped off due to COVID, but we got a table after just a few minutes wait. This was our first time eating at Spanky's and we will definitely be back.

Try the Catfish and Flounder Sandwiches!

Stopped by Spanky's Grille after a visit to the Wright Brothers memorial in Kill Devil Hills. Was not expecting much but we heard good things and decided to give it a go. You order at the counter and the staff bring your food to you. They have a huge variety of items on the menu, from specialty burgers to grilled fish sandwiches. We chose the chicken tenders, fried catfish sandwich and the fried flounder sandwiches. Everything was excellent and the food came out quickly after we ordered. No complaints, nice local joint in the OBX.

Great food!

My family stopped her because my nephew wanted to try alligator bites. We all were very satisfied with our food! It was actually one of the best burgers I had being in the OBX, and one of the cheapest! The service was great and the employees were super friendly. I’ll definitely be stopping there again while I’m the OBX.

Good Burgers

We were looking for a quick lunch and pulled into Spank’s. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. We got burgers, made the way we wanted them, and I got fried okra. I love fried okra. I was a happy camper. The prices were amazingly low. What a great place. I’ll definitely be back for more. The food was delicious.

We were super impressed with Spankys! The staff was incredibly friendly, the food was delicious, and everything was really reasonably priced. We went a little before noon and arrived just before it got really busy. Highly recommend stopping at Spankys!!

Spanky’s is a must stop for lunch each year we are here. The staff is very friendly and seems to truly care about their customers. Honestly the staff is what keeps making us come back, but the food is a great plus too!

Perfect burger!

Remember the old Burger King commercial that said "get it your way"? Spanky's delivers and much more. Burgers and fries, perfectly cooked with our select toppings and cold beer. We saw quite a few locals so we knew we in a great place. Matt, the food runner, needs a raise or bonus. He was so full of energy and cheerful. The happy guy (owner?) who took our order was also great. Well done to all! We will be back.

Great Food!

The burgers, hotdogs, chili cheese fries were outstanding. My granddaughter had to order a second hot dog. I had the big bacon 1/2 lb burger. HAND PRESSED, it has been a long time since I had a burger this good. Friendly staff, great service and great food!

Lunch upon arriving at the beach

Spankys was a welcomed sight as we arrived to the beach from our 4.5 hour road trip. Super casual in atmosphere and food was tasty and pretty quick to serve. Our family left satisfied and felt the place was good and exactly as advertised.

Great Place for Lunch

Don't sleep on this place. It is awesome. First off, the staff are so friendly. The man at the register is welcoming to tourists and locals alike. The wait staff are helpful and friendly when they deliver your food. Maybe the best service staff at ANY restaurant we went to in our week in OBX. The food is good, inexpensive, and tasty. I recommend burgers, clam strips, tater tots, hot dogs. Everything else looked good as well.
