We have frequented Joey's restaurant many times both alone and with friends and family. The restaurant has been closed for several months with a sign that said "See you in February". Still closed and local scuttlebut is that Joey has sold the restaurant and it...will reopen under new ownership. WE WILL MISS YOU A LOT JOEYMore

We stopped in to have brunch-delicious, fresh and filling! So we made reservations for dinner and were not disappointed!! The menu options were varied (beef, chicken, duck, seafood)- everything was fresh and full of flavor. Charming atmosphere- we ate at our leisure and the service...was friendly and efficient. Can’t say enough about the delightful menu-my only regret was that we couldn’t try it all!More

We are locals in the OBX and Joey Russo is one of our favorite local chefs. We first encountered Joey at the Duck country club when he was the head chef and we noticed that the food had gotten exponentially better than our last visit...with member friends. Joey, who will often come out and greet and talk with you depending on customer load, bought and renovated the former Good Life restaurant and specializes in brunch until 2:30 on Wed-Sun each week with dinners on Thurs-Sat. Joey makes his own corned beef and salmon lox and both are wonderful and memorable compared to commercial versions. Specialty brunch items include "Country grammar" named for ? and consisting of corned beef hash with choice of (un) or toasted bread/muffin/biscuit and type of eggs; seasonally he offers soft shell crab eggs benedict which my wife drools over and orders whenever in season. Sandwiches for those not into eggs are also exceptional with the pastrami on rye my go to favorite. As others have noted, you choose your food upon entry, order at the main counter and waiters/Joey brings the food to you. Our favorite brunch place and we are repeat customers for yearsMore

Russo's is formerly The Good Life, and formerly a really good bakery before that as well I believe, but the food has always been a little different and great. I had the corned beef hash, one of the few places you can get homemade CBH....The eggs, coffee and biscuit to go with it were great as well. As far as breakfast goes it is a best bet.More

nice surprise we went in to get breakfast so many pancake houses were packed and this place was nearby...the selections were varied something for everyone and the food was amazing...it's a bit like semi serve you order at a counter and they bring it to...the table but well worth it nice quite serene place with great food and wonderful staffMore

Food, atmosphere, chef, food, atmosphere, chef, food atmosphere, chef. OMG I can’t say enough... this is NOT your typical short order fried food menu. You come here to enjoy a really great meal with a chef who is so passionate for what he is doing. (Expect him to...appear at your table at some point). Such a welcome change from the typical outer banks menu. Not cheap but do yourself a favor and treat yourself. You won’t regret it!More

In May, my husband and I visited the Outer Banks for the first time. Someone at front desk of resort where we were staying mentioned Russo's for breakfast. We tried it the next day and my husband who loves breakfast said "This was the best...breakfast I've ever eaten." Two days in a row he enjoyed the soft shell crab benedicts and last day a crab omelettte with home made biscuit which was also in "best" category. I loved the avocado toast with burrata and cherry tomatoes topped with perfectly cooked eggs and their breakfast burrito. We also had a fabulous dinner the Friday night before leaving. Be sure to try the voodoo red snapper! In addition, the owner is a delight to talk to and knows and enjoys fine food prepared with a creative touch and the best of ingredients. I enjoyed talking and getting to know Joey Russo. Breakast is order at the counter but in the evening restaurant is transformed to full service with white table cloths and a piano player.More
