AWESOME

My husband and I were on a 6 week winter vacation and went to the Chef and The Farmer for dinner on our way home. We had eaten at several fine restaurants in Myrtle Beach, from seafood to French, and the Chef and The Farmer are in a class all by themselves. We ordered the Tom Thumb for an... read more

My daughter recently married and my new son in law and she were visiting here in eastern NC. It was his birthday so I decided to take them out to eat at Chef and the Farmer. It has become my desire to give experiences instead of gifts, such as a pair of socks. My son-in-law is from PA and his... More

Meal and drinks were well thought out and well executed. Fabulous evening. We each had a cocktail while waiting for our table, and the menu was creative. The bartender was beta testing some new drinks and was super helpful and attentive. Susan was our waitress when we were seated. She was great... Talking to us about a few options we... More

When I first heard that a new top end restaurant would open in Kinston, NC I was skeptical. Kinston? Chapel Hill maybe, but Eastern NC? That was a few years ago and now the tv show, the awards, the James Beard nominations, etc. So i lept at the chance to celebrate my fiancée's birthday last Friday night. First, the clientele... Planned this stop on a drive from Mass to Fla. Kinston seemed the perfect place to stop. I enjoy the show so my expectations were high and they were matched. All the people who helped with our meal were wonderful. Johanna took good care of us and her tips about what we might enjoy were spot on. We had a... More

We were so excited to finally get a reservation here. We were not disappointed! Food was fun and delicious. Service was outstanding. Even the house wine was wonderful. We sat at the kitchen table and super fun to watch the chefs. Overall one of the best meals I have ever had.

I had the pleasure of visiting Chef and The Farmer while in Kinston for business. Everything we had was great, but the pork chop was sublime. Perfectly cooked, it was placed on a bed of sweet potato purée and topped with a pickled peanut relish. I could eat this dish weekly.

The food is excellent, which is what you'd expect for the price. Four words: flash fried collard greens. Yummy. The staff was very friendly, but the service could've been a bit better. It took a long time to get drink refills, and we asked for coffee, but it never arrived. This is the only thing that prevents me from giving... More

Every restaurant, at some point, has an off night; I don’t care how good they are. Unfortunately, for us that happened to be on our January 19th visit. We took the two hour drive to Kinston to celebrate my birthday. The drinks (rusty nail and glass of chardonnay) were excellent as was the $4 small plate of bread served with... More
