We drove up from Wilmington to check out Mother Earth Brewing and have dinner at Chef and the Farmer. The drive was completely worth it. We were very lucky to get a table in the bar area. They were completely booked for dinner, and we happened to walk in at a perfect time. People who walked in after us waited... More

So excited to visit here as big fans of the show "A Chef's Life." We were not let down, the food was fantastic, the service wonderful, and we had a great view of the kitchen, which was so fun! I definitely recommend making reservations!

well, it was good, and is a sensation all over the air ways... it was good.. but not enough for me to drive 20 miles there and 20 miles back... couldn't drink wine if driving ...and that is my reason for dining out...and the food .. over my head... every body in this neck of the woods love.. I find... More

I've been wanting to go here for months. We decided to stay at a b&b and make the drive from Raleigh for our Anniversary. We stopped in at the boiler room for drinks and some oysters and homemade saltines. They were great. Our Chef and the Farmer reservation was late 8:45pm. The Boiler Room was great. Loved our Oysters and... More

After being an avid fan of the TV show, I made the decision to make a reservation to drive to Kinston (about 90 minutes away) for dinner. The males of the foursome were somewhat nervous that the food would be too bizarre and portion size too small. We began with Grilled Country Ham wrapped peaches and a smoked chicken flatbread... This was an amazing night out with the wife, we enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. The staff was top notch and couldn't have asked for better service. A bit on the high end for prices and be sure to book well in advance as peak times fill up fast!

This was a girl's destination dining trip (made the four hour drive from Charlotte) we booked several months in advance and stayed at a hotel in town. One friend had been here once before and I must say I already plan to come back as I have family from out of state that are huge fans and want to come... More

Having immered ourselves in the PBS program, we became fans a couple of years ago, so we recently made the 8 hour journey across the state of NC. The exemplary, friendly, and knowledgeable staff were as was anticipated. The favorite dish of the evening was actually the rabbit appetizer. We would highly recommend The Chef and The Farmer, and also... More

My husband and I have eaten at Chef and The Farmer on several occasions. We love the bread appetizer, the fried collards, and every dessert we've ever ordered there. However, the entrees we had most recently were not worth the prices: $32 and $34. My husband had the grouper collar stew with shrimp and a few summer veggies tossed in... More

The place is attractive, and there are several seats where diners can see the kitchen. The menu, however, is heavily laden with cheeses--so non-cheese eaters beware. I'm one, so I chose a cheeseless, delicious, vegetarian dish. I loved it, and my partner had a ham entree with incredible crispy fat that sent him into raptures and led him to suggest... More
