Must have a reservation! Smaller restaurant, quant, with great food. Was recommended by a local resident. Cannot go wrong here. She crab soup was terrific along with filets and shrimp or crab. My wife and I also had the bread pudding. It was light and...tasty. Our server Cortney was tops and attentive. Will go back whenever in the area.More

This was absolutely our favorite restaurant in the two weeks we spent in the area. From the crab soup to the steak and seafood pasta, and especially the peach and blueberry crisp! Everything was perfectly cooked and presented. Service was impeccable and we would absolutely...return!More

The food quality was very nice presentation was great, atmosphere was lovely and the service was impeccable. The pricing was also right on point, this is not an over inflated tourist trap. I highly suggest this place

The food and wine were so delicious. I had the haddock which was very fresh, topped with shrimp and served with asparagus and quinoa salad. My Husband loved his filet and mushroom sauce. We both had outstanding wine by the glass which is not always...possible. We would highly recommendMore

My husband and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary with a romantic dinner overlooking the garden. Our food was delicious. I loved our appetizer - bacon wrapped scallops. The desserts were amazing! It was hard to choose. The service was very fast. We didn’t feel rushed,...but it would have been nice to have more time between courses. It felt like we had barely finished when the next plate arrived.More

We decided to try after reading the positive reviews. We had a wonderful dining experience. The location and atmosphere is quite different from other establishments in the area. We would give it a 5 in this area. The attentiveness and desire to serve and make...sure you have a wonderful experience by the staff is a definite 5. They attend to every need and are clear professionals in this area. Attentive to diners, but not intrusive. The food was excellent, but not a wow, so deserved a solid 4 here. We enjoyed the she crab bisque which was quite good, but not adequately seasoned. A dash of salt brought it to where it needed to be great. The salmon and crabmeat special with broccolini was excellent, but the hoppin jon side dish was just average. It was a sort of rice pilaf with jasmine rice and beans. The desserts are where this restaurant really sets itself apart from the rest of the pack. All are created in house. We tried the coconut cream pie and the toll house cookie dessert. They were amazing. The portions of the dessert are too large. Rather than a large portion at $7.50 each, I would have appreciated something smaller at a lower price to end a great meal. The dessert portions are a shareable size if you can choose just one of the amazing selection. We took leftovers home.More

The food was good, the site is good, but it could be better. We had a 'surf and turf' kind of meal. The sauce béarnaise was straight out of a packet (when homemade is simple)! The potatoes were way way too salty. The dessert gummy....In short, it felt like a 1960's food vibe. Too many dust catchers in the dining room. I called for a reservation and a dress code: "elegant casual." Flip lops and cut offs are fine for children, not adult women. I hope the woman I saw leaving was turned away.More

This restaurant has both a solid menu and wine selection. The good is both beautiful and delicious. You have to go to Colington to get to Colington but it is worth the small detour to avoid the tourist driven places in other parts of the...Outer Banks. The other bonus is the value for the money. Last but not least save room for the in house created desserts. Worth every calorie.More

Everything about this restaurant is 5 Stars. The food is excellent, the service is excellent and the location is charming. It is truly the best restaurant on the Outer Banks. Menu has great variety and unique dishes for every taste. Every member of the staff...is warm, friendly and welcoming. During our recent visit to OBX, we had the opportunity to dine here twice. We wish that we lived closer to enjoy the food and service more often than just while vacationing.More

Petite fillet was not properly cooked as ordered...very rare and not even warm... jumbo crab was not warmed..bernaise lacked tarragon and room temp. $3.00 up charge for different potato that was on menu was ridiculous for $33 entre.. Wine glasses are circa 1960 when Chablis...was in vogue.. One very small size for both white and red... buy updated wine glasses. Overall experience was disappointing.More

We made reservations to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated promptly in a small upstairs room. Another couple seated about 2 mins after. They were greeted and waited on first. That just drives me crazy. Anyway, Lilly and Whitney were our servers. Both sweet and...upbeat and helped with our menu selections. We shared a bottle of wine and enjoyed our entrees. Another couple was seated a few mins later and we felt like we were all eating in a small bedroom. We tried to speak quietly. So food and service were really good, but I would ask to sit somewhere else the next time. It was our first visit as they had just opened for the season.More

I wouldn't wear denim to Colington Cafe, but smart-casual works. My husband wears a button-down cotton shirt or polo with his khaki 'dress' shorts. It's not overly stuffy, but there is a formality to the place. Victorian... More
