This was our first time dining here. Our realtor friend suggested we give this place a try. The food was excellent and so was the service and ambiance. Erin our server was friendly and efficient. I had shrimp and a crab cake, mashed potatoes and...a vegetable medley. My husband had filet with crab meat. It was a great dining experience.More

Dinner and experience was outstanding! This was our first time visiting. We were looking for a nice restaurant that took reservations in the OBX. That’s hard as no one hardly takes reservations- but I called and it was super easy. Our waitress Jani was superb!...Took the time to explain specials and the menu. She was quick, efficient and so friendly! We both had the She Crab Bisque and it was hands down the best we’d ever had. We split the mixed grill special of tuna and steak - OMG the tuna was fresh caught and like butter, absolutely phenomenal! They are off the beaten path a bit in a quaint old house. Wine and beer only - other than that absolutely stellar experience! Highly recommend!More

Ate here on our last night in the OBX. It's a super-popular place and was getting filled --even at 5 pm on a Friday night. It was opening night for them, and the ambience is really lovely--an older home converted into a restaurant. French and...Southern decor--lovely and restful. Truly terrific and friendly service. And the food is amazing and well-cooked. My friend had the best pork chop of her life, and I had a great crab cake and shrimp. She-crab bisque was maybe a bit too rich for me, but my friend enjoyed hers. The scallops appetizer was perfect. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town. Recommend reservations. Signage into the parking lot could be better--hard to slow down when traffic on the road is going fast.More

Thank you so much for taking out the time to write on The Cafe. We are so happy you enjoyed your evening, especially on opening night when our staff can be a bit "rusty." But we all love and appreciate our customers so so much,...More

Went here tonight by the after finding it purely by accident while driving today. We have been coming to the Outerbanks for 25 years and this was the absolute best place. Staff was super friendly and food was excellent. May be their last night for...the season but had everything on menu except coconut shrimp. Definitely will be coming back in May!More

Our house is in Duck, and with some of our regular restaurants closed for the season & those that are open, only at 50% capacity, I thought it would be a good time to try something new. The Colington Cafe has always had good reviews,...and they were taking reservations, so we went for dinner tonight. It’s in a Victorian house, and tucked back off 158. The service was warm and friendly, the menu had plenty of variety, and there were some daily specials. Whitney was responsible for our table, and was knowledgeable and welcoming. We all enjoyed our selections, especially the tuna and the rockfish and scallops special. We were too full for dessert, but Whitney sent a serving of the bread pudding home with us anyway. We’re happy to have found a great addition to our list of restaurants! Thank you for a lovely start to 2021.More

Hard to feel safe eating out during a pandemic but they did a good job of keeping diners apart. We had an excellent friendly server and the food arrived promptly and hot. We both ordered steak with lump crab on top - one med well-done...and the other med rare - they came at the same time and were perfectly cooked. Sides were excellent, bread was warm and soft. A perfect meal. For those that like a cocktail you will only find beer and wine served here. Please note - this is not the choice of the restaurant but the town of Colington is dry as far as hard liquor is concerned.More

Eating here was one of the nicest experiences we've had dining out in years! Super cute setting, well done in an older house with plenty of space between dining tables. All staff members we encountered were superb at their jobs, and our server Whitney probably...the best server we've had in decades of dining. She make our meal so enjoyable and relaxed. We ordered an appetizer platter and a salad for dinner, which didn't make her blink an eye. We knew that even with our drinks and dessert that we would be a lousy ticket for her, but she never missed a beat, smile or conversation opportunity with us. We tipped her more than generously, needless to say! The food? The scallops rumaki were superb, best scallop preparation I've ever had. Coconut shrimp and crab cakes? Also excellent. The crab dip was good, but not great. The hot bread? Excellent! The green salad - couldn't have been crisper and the blue cheese dressing was great. The dessert tray is spectacular and we chose chocolate raspberry cake and the black bottom coconut cream pie. Just believe me - you can't believe how good their pastry chef is! We will dream about returning until we can!More

Dinner last night was lovely. It's a charming home setting, and the food was scrumptious. I had fried jumbo shrimp and crabcake, and my husband had the filet mignon with crabcake. Then we shared a creme brulee! The chef, and the pastry chef have it...dialed in! I think whatever you order here, you can't go wrong! Angelique was our server, and she was an absolute doll; she reminded me of Reese Witherspoon. Who doesn't love Reese?!More

I wouldn't wear denim to Colington Cafe, but smart-casual works. My husband wears a button-down cotton shirt or polo with his khaki 'dress' shorts. It's not overly stuffy, but there is a formality to the place. Victorian... More
