Have the people giving this place great reviews ever had fish tacos before or did they just get out of prison? Because hands down these r the worst ones I’ve ever had and I’ve had plenty.
They don’t even bother to make them. You get...the soft taco shells in foil. A plate with shredded lettuce and shredded cheese and scallions plus white rice like they went to food Lion and bought packages of this stuff and dumped it on the plate. The fish smelled like cat food and tasted awful literally no flavor. Like it was old fish. And ranch dressing for dip on the side lmao. Seriously it’s like they r trying to win a worlds worst taco contest.
A local up at Corolla said this place is “disgusting” when we mentioned having eaten there. Just go to McDonald’s it’s less gross.More
A very colorful Pan- Asian Tiki Bar & Grill shack that you can’t miss in Kill Devil Hills. They stay busy “all day,” so take your chances on getting a table inside or outside. Only the bar seats were available when we arrived mid- afternoon!...So glad that we decided to sit at the bar. The waitress/bartender were such fun to talk to and watch them mix drinks. The girl’s last name was Daley but sorry to say, can’t remember the gentleman’s. Both were personable, courteous, and accommodating. Full bar with awesome drinks, some includes a gift glass. The food is a little pricey. I got the garbage plate and those cucumbers are to die for! We split an order of onion rings and their crispy batter was spot-on! The only down side to this restaurant is that they desperately need to hire more cooks. Takes too long to be served. Food was good, but when it’s already mid-afternoon and you’ve just spent a day of breathing in all that sunshine and salt air, you’re starving-marvin! We had a great time eating at Mama Kwan’s!More
Good reviews made us go here. We're not people who generally wait long periods of time for our food but since so many restaurants let you sign in and then call you it's made it tolerable. Mama Kwan's was like that, when we checked in...we were told it would be an hour to an hour and a half. Being somewhat familiar with the restaurant industry I expected a wait of less than an hour. One hour and 20 minutes later we were seated.
I got the blackened mahi mahi tacos and the wife got the blackened mahi salad; both were fantastic and worth the wait. Neither of us thought we actually had mahi mahi though but they way it tasted we didn't care, it could've been shoe leather and we'd eat it; it was that good. The wife insisted we go back the next day which, if you knew the wife, says all you need to know. We will definitely be going back.More
Family beach day... best day ever says my 6 y/o. We had the mamas pork, fish tacos, monster burger, and the food was splendid. Customer service is top shelf. Thank you for the beers. They were perfect. We really love this place.
The drinks were awesome! Especially enjoyed the Loco Louie. Everything was delicious. We loved the butter rum rice, the coconut shrimp with grilled pineapple and fried green beans. We ran out of time to get a second meal, but we hope to go back next...trip!More
Been there several times. It's a small place and usually a wait but well worth it.
Probably not a good choice for large groups during prime dinner hours.
Pork Wontons are small but big in flavor. Wings are excellent. Fish tacos are decent but sometimes...a bit dry. Pork Plate is simply amazing. Small but nice selection of local brews. Staff was friendly.More
