Dinner on 8/15/22 close to our hotel

We checked their website and had a large menu and decided to try. It was a fancy large restaurant. We said dine in and they sat us in a booth. Ordered their house special chow fun ($14.95) and House special fried rice( $13.95) and a scotch on the rocks drink. Within couple of minutes the server brought both dishes in a black takeout container and a sauce in a dish and 2 thin white paper plates and plastic fork and knife packet which we get at take out places. We were shocked as we saw all the China arranged in a corner. First time in our life a fancy looking place served us. We started eating and felt like leaving the place but did not as only for one night stopped and leave the next morning. They came to ask how ever was and my husband asked why they served us in paper plates when there is China and silverware we could see in the counter. The lady said no dishwasher. We said why can’t you get those plates etc so she brought those with actual silverware and cloth napkins. Anyway our dinner experience was very very disappointing. My husband even took photos to have proof and came back to the hotel and gave a disappointing and shocking review with photos.

After seeing all the great reviews I was disappointed with the food and the staff. The food score was a 93.5 which is an "A" but honestly, if I had noticed it on the way in I would not have eaten here. The fried pork dumplings were not very good...chewy and cold in the middle. The egg drop soup was extremely thick (which might be normal in some places?) which was unappetizing to me. The chicken fried rice was good. Staff was hard to redirect and we felt we were being too pushy when we asked for soy sauce and pepper.

Top notch classic Chinese comfort food

This spot never disappoints. Delicious, old fashioned Chinese food that reminds me of some of the top Chinese restaurants my family took me to in NYC growing up in the 60s and 70s. Really hits the spot. Not fancy or pretentious, rather reliable, skillfully prepared and very tasty. They always get our take out order right, and preparation is quick. Some of my favorite food anywhere. We're vegetarians and order the tofu lettuce wraps, veggie dumplings, tofu broccoli with white sauce and sizzling tofu and vegetables.

Tasteless.

I should have been concerned when parking lot was empty on a Saturday night. We ordered take out. I got the Szechuan beef, which was a plate of greasy onions and 2 small pieces of beef. Threw it in the trash. My husband got Mongolian beef and he said his was tasteless. The other dish was beef snd broccoli and that was OK. We won’t ever return.

My wife and I used to eat

My wife and I used to eat there often and it was good. That was a few years ago. Went for lunch. Not at all friendly. We were seated fairly quick. Then the wait ! Finally a person took our order, again a long wait. Food finally came, portions were small. No refills on our drinks! We just wanted out of there. Again a wait to get our bill. By the way the food didn’t even taste good ! We will not ever go back ! Maybe it was a bad day ? But I don’t think so

What the heck happened here!?!

After being loyal patrons for over 20 years (University and Birkdale area), we were disappointed to see how drastic the change in food quality and taste was. This was a standout place whose food and service were second to none. It was usually packed. I should have known that something terrible had happened when I saw an empty parking lot. As soon as I opened my beloved chicken and garlic sauce (extra spicy), I knew something was wrong. It didn't look the same and was the typical gelatinous run-of-the-mill Chinese food you find at many other places. After tasting it...the insipid mess went into the garbage can. If the new owners don't revert to the prior, original, delicious menu/cooks then this place is unfortunately never to be on my go-to list again.

Great place for Sunday lunch

Great place for Sunday lunch! This is our go to place on Sundays as a family. They offer a nice variety of lunch choices and food is always dependable good. I especially love the coconut pineapple cake from Queen City Bakery. I’ve been known to eat my dessert first !🤭

Excellent food, fast service

We had a great experience ordering take out. Food was hot and ready very fast, portions were generous and everyone loved the taste of their dish. Vegetables were perfectly cooked (not over cooked) and they used nice quality meat (not fatty or scraps) in their dishes.

Great meal

Last evening we ordered the curry noodle dish with shrimp, chicken, and beef. If was wonderful and arrived promptly in 20 min steaming hot. We also had the Korean egg rolls that were fantastic. We will order again, maybe even this evening!

Friday Lunch

I always try to make a trip to House of Taipei when in the Huntersville area. Service is fast and friendly. There is something on the lunch menu to please everyone. Each dish is cooked to order, served up hot and fresh. Your entree will be accompanied with either fried or white rice and a spring or egg roll, you choose. It will be a plate full of yummy goodness. You won’t leave hungry! Enjoy!

Called the restaurant to place a take-out order. The food was ready and waiting on me when I got to the restaurant. The people were very friendly at the checkout. The Order was correct and the food was very good.
