The only reason it got a 2 star is because the establishment of Old Edwards Inn is stunning. The food for Thanksgiving was not at all to the standards with the expected price you pay per person. The meal left you actually wanting the luxury...food you had expected, horribly small portions & not good at all. The dessert was out sourced and terrible...tasted processed. Sad Thanksgiving day for us at the cost of $200 for 2.More

Wow, what a great dinner. I'm no food critic, but I know what I like, and I want more of this! I hate to use the term charming, but yeah, it was charming and cozy, and just about everything was perfect.

Madison's is located in the Old Edwards Inn, centrally located in Highlands and definitely a high-end lodging. My favorite restaurant in town has always been Wild Thyme but they don't take reservations and since we were going to be there on a Sunday during leaf...season, wisdom dictated trying somewhere that would book a table. Madison's seemed like it was worth a try. The room is pleasant and while fairly spacious, it is divided into a series of nice intimate spaces so you don't feel like you are dining in a cafeteria. Our food wasn't bad although it wasn't that great either. For the prices they charge (which were commensurate with the surroundings so not a surprise) you should get more interesting options and better versions of the standards they cook. What was really disappointing was the service. Our server was very pleasant but largely inept. She had difficulty with English to begin with and failed to provide many of the things we asked for. I don't know if she was forgetful, overworked, didn't understand or what but we were very disappointed. We couldn't even get a cup of coffee refilled without having to get up from the table to track down a server. While you needn't necessarily avoid Madison's, based upon my experience there are options in Highlands with both better food and substantially better service.More

Not a typical hotel restaurant! This was so much better in every way. We had breakfast and dinner at Madison’s. The menu is varied and offered something for everyone. Service at both meals was excellent. They manage to adjust the atmosphere during the day to...make the dinner experience much more sophisticated than breakfast - almost feels like a completely different restaurant. Will return on our next visit to Highlands.More

Thank you, AnnaKGA for your wonderful review. Madison’s is second-to-none when it comes to the level of service and the varied menu offered. We look forward to welcoming you again on your next visit to Highlands.

The ambiance and service were okay but did not care for the dinner we selected. (Lamb&Quail dish) The menu selections were not impressive at all. There are other restaurants in Highland that offer a better selection and quality of food. We were disappointed!

We had lunch on our anniversary. We eat at Old Edwards quite often, lately on the rooftop terrace. We were surprised to see the menu at Madison’s is exactly the same as the wine garden and rooftop terrace. Better wine list, but that is the...only difference other than the venue. Our server was Coombs, who was more than excellent.More

This restaurant has well-spaced tables for an elegant, luxuriant experience. The service was superb with Eindy (SP?) answering all our questions and ever so helpful. This was our first time there (staying at half-mile farm) but will return when next in the Highlands.

So a friend of ours had a $200 gift certificate for Madison's which we tried to use by making reservations. We were told that they did not allow dogs even a 5 lb dog even though we were going to eat outside. Needless to say...this is not a pet friendly establishment God how I miss the good old days when we could go to Highlands and play Miniature Golf even though I'm pretty sure the people on this restaurant have no idea miniature golf and even existed back in the 50s and 60s. Not only that but we were required to place a credit card hold to make reservations certainly not a customer friendly rule. Apparently the customer comes second place at this establishment and I do not recommend. Go to Wil Thyme. If you want better food.More

On the night of our 25th anniversary, we decided to dine at Madison's. We were staying at the hotel for a long weekend. I contacted the restaurant in advance to ensure they can tastefully prepare a meal for my wife that accommodated her dietary restrictions....They were glad to do it. In addition, I requested a special dessert as most restaurants can only offer sorbet and fruit for someone who is allergic to dairy. We arrived at our table to find rose pedals on the table and a warm greeting of Happy Anniversary. I had made these plans in advance without my wife's knowledge. Service was attentive and friendly from the start. The Old Edison Group employees people from around the world via an international exchange program. I encourage you to engage the many people working for their company. They have great stories to tell and enjoy being engaged by guests. Our first course, entrees and desserts were perfectly prepared. They were cooked to the requested temperature and were properly seasoned for great flavors! If we lived local, we would return again and again!More

Very quaint setting. We sat by the window and could see the waterfall and patio. Service was great. Staff was very cordial and attentive. The food was good, not great. The prices for what we had were rather high. But of course, I have not...found any dinner meals in town for two less than $100.More

It was a girl's afternoon out and it's something we do a couple of times a year at Madison's. The service was not up to par. Odd start in the beginning when 2 different servers introduced themselves at once and started pouring water. One was...telling us the special and we couldn't hear her because of the other one talking. I asked for lemon and had to ask a second time. Then she took our orders of soups and salads. The other waiter came out with the biscuit presentation. He never came back to see if we wanted more. Then within 10 minutes our food was served. That was not the beginning to a relaxing lunch. We did not see either waiter or waitress again for a long time. No water refills or questions about how we were doing. Finally the waitress came back and asked about dessert. One of us got dessert and another long time before she asked for the third time if it would be separate checks. Then another long wait for her to come back and pick up our checks. Lunch took about an hour and 45 minutes. Another thing that was unusual for this place was that it had the odor of fried fish. There was just a strange vibe to the whole time there. That being said if this was your first visit you wouldn't know the difference in what it used to be. Girls day out will probably happen at one of the other great restaurants in Highlands.More

We dined at Madison's last week with my brother-in-law and his wife, who were visiting from the East coast. Located in the charming Old Edward's Inn, it is the perfect spot for a romantic date or a couple's' night out. The ambiance is subdued elegance....The food, simply prepared and delightful. Service was outstanding. Our lovely server, Corina, went above and beyond, to ensure we had a memorable night. Bravo Corina! Thank you! If you are looking for a lovely evening, don't look any further than this elegant gem in the Blue Ridge mountains. Highly recommend.More

I don't know that there is one. The tables are set up the way they always have been. If you have a concern you might want to try their outdoor garden restaurant. It's very good.

No - the entire inn is not pet friendly. However they do allow a TRUE 'support dog' but are very clear - that doesn't mean for 'emotional support' . But certainly NOT at the Wine Garden.
