I live in Winston Salem and have traveled to high point twice, just this week, to get a bite to eat at carter brothers on samet drive. I had the same waitress both times and felt very welcome and comfortable. Ive tried the spicy grilled chicken and flounder/shrimp plates. This place is more than just great bbq! Not to mention... I've been eating here for years...and although the pricing for the ribs has gone up (from $9 to $13), I'll continue to eat here because I've yet to find another place that has beef ribs as tasty and tender as Carter Bros. Yeah, sides are good...but the beef ribs steal the show. The meat falls off the bone and that... More

Carter Brothers Bar B Que: Clean friendly environment that has an awesome selection of bar b que and daily specials. My favorites are the potatoe salad, cole slaw, fine chopped bar b que, and spaghetti special. For desert i usually have banana pudding, oreo cake, or strawberry pudding. Service, food quality and speedy service are unique. If you havent tried... More

My wife and I had dinner at Carter Brothers. I got the Chopped Pork Platter and it was not as good as it has been in the past. The BBQ was pretty dry. I added sauce to help it but just work for me. I know people love this place and I have to admit I have in the past.... More

They don't sell pulled pork so we ordered the chopped pork sandwiches. They had an off taste to them and we couldn't eat them. Took to go containers to eat later but both my spouse and I felt half sick with just the thought of eating it, so we tossed them. Did not like the BBQ sauce either. Will NOT... More

The food is decent, the sweet tea is delicious. The environment is what is terrible. The waitresses are always so sour and don't bother coming by to check on you but maybe once the whole time you're there. You have to literally wave your arms and flag someone down to even get anything like a straw or ketchup bottle that's... More

We found this out of the way place quite by accident and we're thrilled. The barbecue was terrific. I read there is another on Main Street and if as good as this one, good for them. The staff was polite and friendly.

You gotta try the Texas Burger and their Grilled Chicken with cheese, add grilled onions or their BBQ Chicken finger-licking good.

The atmosphere is a great family dining experience. The portions are generous. I really like the chopped pork BBQ plate with their "red slaw". I have not tried anything else on their menu because I really like that! My parents did get their ribs, and judging from how quickly the ribs disappeared, they really liked them!
