This place has changed it's name to Wood. The pizza was acceptable but the atmosphere is a little dark and dreary. The service, again, was acceptable but certainly nothing special. If we ever eat here again we'll just order the pizza to go.
I went with a group of pastors for lunch. The sevice was excellent, the food was tasty and hot and the price was reasonable. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was pleasant. The menu offered many choices and they offered daily specials. There was...adequate parking at lunch time.More
Our first time here, Wood formerly Bistro 127. Loved the cozy atmosphere, the bar area was fabulous, lots of ambiance.. We ordered the Pepper and Sausage wood fired pizza and it was excellent! We also split the huge pastrami sandwich which had a fabulous slaw...dressing and mustard on it...decent beer selection, wine selection could be a lot better - just house wines (no sauvignon blanc) So many food selections...We will be back!!More
Went to Wood aka Bistro 127 for lunch with friends. Was very excited since none of us have been here since they switched to a wood burning pizza restaurant. Also, the website photos made the food look delicious. However, our experience was below average. Our...waitress was not knowledgeable about menu or drinks. The food was not worth the money. I ate the Jerk chicken sandwich which was under seasoned and just okay. My friend ate the Hot Zone salad which had a weird flavor to the chicken. Both chicken meals were below par and the chicken tasted like it had been frozen not fresh. My other friend ate the club and was pleased. We all tried the blueberry creme brule and no one liked it. My friend referred to it as blueberry chalk...Yum! Was very disappointed with the whole experience and doubt we will be back.More
We just celebrated our 5 year Anniversary and our friends and Family surprised us with a party at this restaurant . We had this private room in the back and it was charming and elegant.
The food was fresh and delicious and served over 20...people.
What really made this night perfect was the staff. The waitress that helped our party from start to finish was amazing.
Ask for Kristen if you are planning an event here. She made sure everyone had exactly what they needed and went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly.
We could not have asked for a better night!
Thank you to all at Bisto 127.More
Looking at the menu, I was a little tentative and afraid that there were a lot of meat items and not many vegetarian items. I ended up ordering one of their gourmet french toasts. I was afraid that it'd be too sweet, since it had..."light" syrup on it and American food like that is usually too sweet anyway. But, it was great! I liked that they used frozen fruit rather than fresh fruit- frozen fruit adds to the syrup and is a better texture for french toast than fresh fruit. My partner's meat breakfast was good, and they use great quality bread. The server was really nice! The interior is quite "rustic", but it doesn't go overboard, which is easy to do with that theme. I would definitely go back if driving through Hickory again. My only problem is that they should have more vegetarian breakfast options!More

I don't really think that Bistro 127 could accommodate a party of 20 or more. Because last time I was there I only saw booths not tables in the lower level seating area. But, if they have enough tables available stored some where it might be possible but I doubt you all would be at one table and two large tables would take up a lot of room & it would be a tight fit. That wouldn't be very comfortable nor good for socializing either in my opinion. I will tell you that I've been there 3 times & each time was a huge disappointment. The cooks have little experience & the only consistency is there's always some thing wrong & food is sent back. I've been served soured veggies in my salad that had gone bad & food cooked in old burnt oil & saturated with grease as well. I've had several issues with the cooks & quality of the food than this. Service is slow & the servers I've had wait on me have little knowledge of the menu. Getting a good cocktail is nearly impossible. I couldn't even get a decent rum & coke, bourbon & coke, or a Long Island Tea, 3 of the most simple drinks on the planet! I've read a lot of other reviews on here where people have complained about the drinks & food also. There are other better & really good restaurants in Hickory NC than Bistro 127. It just depends on your taste & what type of food you like. You may want to try Old Hickory Taproom. The atmosphere, service, food & cocktails are great! And they can easily accommodate 20 people or more. Good luck!
