My husband and I visited June 20, 2020 and had the most amazing meal. Staff was prompt and friendly. Had pleasant conversations with other guests. This restaurant is a super friendly place. We had the Sampler Platter Extreme and it could have easily fed 3 people. I especially loved the apple slaw. We also enjoyed the Prosciutto di Parma white pizza.
It was refreshing to eat at a restaurant that was completely normal. We highly recommend and will send all our friends and family who visit this area.

Large pretzel, grit balls and fries onion straw petals were off the hook just for starters. Next, we ordered a quarter roasted chicken plate with baked beans and mashed potatoes. Then, we got the smothered Mac n cheese n bbq bake! We will definitely be going back to try other things as all these selections were on point. The service was courteous, friendly and quick (right on time with everything). We were early cause we just got off a long hike so we were there around 4pm but we could see they were starting to fill up by the time we were ready to leave. My 5 year old insisted that when we get home I need to give them a five star so here I am cause they were worth every star and the time to write this review.

The Wood Room is my destination restaurant in the area when I am traveling through the Asheville area. I visited yesterday with my fiancé Cyndi for a late lunch and to visit my friend Jamie Guay, the owner. I always have Jamie order for me to try his newest items, he hit a home run yesterday. We started off with the fresh out of the oven soft pretzel with an incredible mustard dipping sauce. Followed that with the “house” salad full of fresh greens and fruit and dressed the best apple vinaigrette dressing I have eaten…. Simply outstanding!! Jamie made a brisket burn ends pizza for us that is not on the menu…..yet, I have now been assured they will be adding it. Jose does an amazing job on the pizzas. Just the right amount of burnt ends, oven roasted onions and mushrooms and topped with Jamie’s competition BBQ sauce. I would gladly pay $25 for this pizza…
My favorite entree at the Wood Room is the house made pastrami sandwich. I always get one to go and have the next day. This sandwich is piled with the best pastrami and cheese on an incredible bread.
Thank you Jamie for your dedication to the quality of food and the incredible service your staff provides. I wish you were closer than 2 1/2 hours drive so I could eat there more frequently but it is worth the drive there and back for the incredible culinary experience.

The food here is pretty good but the manager is very rude and condescending. We ordered two bbq meals and two pizzas. The pizzas came out over 10 minutes after the other entrees. Well after we ordered the waitress explained that they were out of a sauce that the menu said came on the pizza and that she didn't know they didn't have that sauce anymore. No problem, we asked for two sides of what we found out was called their competition sauce. The waitress then comes and explains that it will be an additional $1.99 for each side sauce. We asked to speak to the manager who was extremely rude and condescending. He never apologized and had an attitude as soon as he arrived at the table. He refused to correct the mistake and said he could just "give away" the sauce. He absolutely refused to correct the mistake. Won't ever come here again based on the rude way we were treated. Manager needs some serious customer service training.

Been here 5 times, always great food. Today I had to send back the brisket chili, after about 5-6 spoonfuls I just couldn't get past how firm the beans were. I've had more chili in more states than I'd ca re e to count and this just didnt seem right. The server took it away, returned with an offer to order something else and while I was looking some guy comes out of the kitchen. He slaps me on my back and says those beans come out of a can and they're already cooked and walks away. I try to ask what that had to do with my concern but he didnt look back and kept going. About 2 minutes later he's back in the kitchen door, telling for me to follow him back into the kitchen, hooking his index finger front to back in a follow me gesture. I told him no thanks but he kept it up to the point where I just couldn't deal anymore. I didnt order something else, I let my wife finish her food and we paid and left. Do t know if he's the owner, kitchen manager, cook or what but I've never been treated like this in a restaurant ever. Over something so ridiculous as my not liking the way the Chile was prepared. I didnt make a scene, didn't raise my voice, I just didnt like the chile.
I recommend the food highly and the service is top notch, but whoever this guy is needs to Chill out.

I would not stop in again. Social distancing is impossible. And the crummy little table where you pick your choice of sauce was very dirty, I had to wash my hands afterwards. The wait staff could of cared less and told us if we didn’t like that we could buy a bottle of their sauce. All of this may have been forgivable if the Bar-B-Que was good but it was mediocre at best and the sides are nothing to right home about. Corn bread is more like corn cake. Go down the road to Hubba Hubba

We have been coming here for several years when we visit the mountains and always had a good experience but NOT TONIGHT! Like others have said in reviews lately there is no social distancing! I called ahead and was rudely told that they were not taking reservations. When we arrived, we asked about an outside table and instead of saying there were none available but would you like to wait for one it was just NO! Our only option was to sit inside where the tables were close together and the same man at the front door said abruptly again that there was no way to social distance so basically take it or leave it. We were being seated close to another group and asked if we could have a vacant table that was next to the window and were told it was “reserved!” I thought you couldn’t make reservations? As we waited for our meal, one of the girls haphazardly wiped tables after guests with the same towel over and over as did others. No spray disinfectant or anything. No wiping sauce containers after customers used them, etc. At the end of our meal, I stopped and mentioned not being given an option to wait and the same rude man said, “Here is Jamie’s card you can call him about it tomorrow!” He said the towel has disinfectant on it but I said that they’re using the same towel over and over! They totally didn’t care! I was totally shocked at the indifference and lack of caring and believe me....I will call the owner. I work in hospitality and can’t believe this total lack of caring with Covid going on! I will say...our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant at this point!

Was following a thread on a community site earlier with recommendations for things to do while visiting Hendersonville. I was blown away by the restaurant recommendations and I am proud to say we service all the top recommendations. You see I've seen alot of bad kitchens in my career and some I refuse to service. But, Jamie you have the best back of the house and front of the house I have ever been in and it shows! Your restaurant is always a top destination in Hendersonville for recommendations you're doing a hell of a job!! I hope to be half the business you have built one day. It's all about reputation and relationships and you have figured it out. Thanks for being a mentor and a friend

Ordered carry out and no mention of sides on the menu. Therefore I had no idea one small 8 ounce cup of Mac n cheese is an extra dollar and the girl on the phone never mentioned there was an up charge for the Mac n cheese and sweet potato fries. Felt blinded by the bill cost as it was $3 more dollars than expected. Then I got home and my 15.99 brisket is only 4 pieces. For that cost there should have been a lot more I think. My fries could barely be called a “handful”-maybe 10 fries at best. I had eaten there twice before (inside) and enjoyed the food, but carry out is not good and the portions are a lot less. The only reason I gave them two stars is because my four pieces of brisket were at least good.

BBQ brisket is a favorite of mine, but the brisket served here is like nothing I've had before and was totally inedible. We got several slices of a gray, dense, very dry, tasteless something. Looked like pressed meat, not cuts from a fresh brisket. I asked for horse radish sauce which was of no help. When we complained, we were told "that's the way it is." adding insult to injury I was charged .79 for the sauce. We ordered their "piggy pretzel" as an appetizer while we decided on our entrees. The pretzel came at the same time as our entrees. The creme brulee had a caramel crust so hard had to chop at it with a knife; underneath was a drinkable liquid. Yuk!!!

Both the reviewer and son worked here and were fired for theft.
We are a top of the line restaurant that worked hard to keep all employees during COVID.
This employee wanted easy entitled income for him and his family. DENIED
so now this loser wants to bash us
Glad our customers are smarter!!!

My family of 3 decided to eat here on a Sunday evening based on the restaurant’s #9 overall ranking and the fact other restaurants, ranking higher, were either not open on Sunday or had a long wait. We were immediately seated outside where the tables are spaced closely, no more than 2-3 feet apart. We waited quite some time before our waitress showed up to take our drink orders. I’m not sure where she was because the other waiter for outside had been by multiple times before we ever saw her. We ordered a bottle of wine that never showed up. Someone else brought mine and my husband’s pork platters out. We were never offered any sauce to go with the pork. Our waitress never came to check on us. I had to call her over to ask where our son’s pizza was and to cancel the bottle of wine. She never gave an explanation or apology as to why she never brought the wine. Our son’s pizza finally showed up as my husband and I were finishing our meal. The manager was kind enough to take the pizza off our bill, and the food was tasty. However, I won’t return due to their lack of concern for social distancing and providing decent customer service.

My husband and I wanted to try somewhere we had never been while getting a rare date without our kids. We found this place online and were so happy we did. The food was amazing. My husband was very happy with his meal and the smoked meatloaf that I ordered was the best meatloaf I have ever eaten, hands down. The side dishes were delicious. The wait staff were friendly and very helpful. We definitely have a new favorite spot.

We were very disappointed when we went to the Flat Rock Wood Room for dinner. We requested an outdoor table for more air circulation during the COVID pandemic... the tables were very close together offering no social distancing and the hostess and servers were not wearing masks. They were not following any safety protocols. (And certainly not 5o% capacity). When I wrote on their Facebook page to express my disappointment the owner rudely responded to “go somewhere else” and that is just what We will do... along with all of our friends.
And BTW the food was also not as good as we remembered... ribs were fatty and not that flavorful and the pastrami sandwich -which used to be fabulous- was greasy and fatty.

We stopped here based on a recommendation on a rainy Christmas Eve and we could not have been happier! From the time we stepped in, we were greeted with kindness and the restaurant was very clean and decorated for the holiday season. It was such a pleasure atmosphere. The sweet tea and Cheerwine were refreshing and just as expected, but our waitress, Laurie, surprised us with the appetizer special, cheesy bacon deep fried grits. They were amazing just drizzled in their sweet house BBQ sauce. I loved them and 6 was enough for me to take leftovers. This was the first restaurant in a long time that all 4 of us (husband, me, and our 2 kids) loved everything we had! My husband got the ribs and they were seasoned perfectly with the sauce on the side, how he like it. My son got the jumbo chicken wings and he said they were the best he's ever had and in his top 3 for meals ever! I had the piggie skillet which again, was amazing! It's the creamiest Mac n cheese, covered in pulled pork, with I think are bacon bits, BBQ sauce and green onions baked in a skillet. It was so good and some of the best Mac n cheese and pulled pork I've had. The fries and onion straws were perfectly hot and crispy and my daughter's grilled cheese with pulled pork was huge and just as good reheated the next day. I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in the nearly Asheville area or passing through Hendersonville. If you go, enjoy and tell Laurie we sent you!

We went to Flat Rock wood room last night. We had a reservation for 18 people, however only 15 could make it. Service was good, food was good, however when it came time to settle our bill we were informed that we would have to pay $22.50 for each of the three people who didn’t make it.
We all felt that was ridiculous. One of our group tried to reason first with our server and then with the manager. They wouldn’t budge. Clearly a case of buyer beware!

We love visiting Flat Rock Wood Room for date night but also for special events. We live in Travelers Rest, SC so it’s about a 30 minute trip but well worth it.
The Service - While we have never had terrible service here, we definitely suggest asking for Keydrean if you can. He has a great personality and really made our special event a memorable one. He has mastered the craft of tending to a table the perfect amount. Some servers go missing and then other servers hang around the table too much. He filled our drinks as they became low, removed dishes from our table without us asking, promptly brought extra things we asked for without the need to announce it to the table. We loved him and loved his playful banter.
The Food - We all ordered BBQ items this time. I personally love the smoked meatloaf. The fries are crispy and the ranch dressing was great. The apple slaw is a must have and if your meal doesn’t come with cornbread, order some on the side! It comes with honey pecan butter and it’s amazing. The cornbread is on the sweet side very moist. If you consider getting a dozen to go, do it! It holds up well. Other people in our party got platters, a pastrami sandwich, ribs, and burnt ends. Everyone left with some in their to go box so you’ll have plenty of food.
The Price - It’s very reasonable. For food for 7 people, 3 appetizers, two beers, we paid less than $200 before tip. Just make sure to tip your server well! They deserve it!
Tip: Make a reservation online before 3pm on their website if you do so same day. It’s very user friendly.
