We love eating local while traveling, and this place is the reason why. Soft shell crab, clams, fish, etc. We don't even love sea food, but it was AMAZING. It was so good in fact, we went back a couple of days later for breakfast,...and it was even better than the dinner!!! So good!More

Stopped by for breakfast and was impressed by the quick service and excellent food. Great place to grab breakfast on your way to the ferry.

So sad to report that the stuffed flounder I have enjoyed for years was sub par. Overdone and the stuffing not tasty. We had a huge order for 16 - stuffed shrimp also average. Best thing was bisque and crab balls. Portions were much smaller...than in past years. Yet business was booming so guess it does not matter. We will stick with breakfast.More

We vacation in the Outer Banks every year and this was our first time staying in Hatteras. We weren’t far from Sonny’s and saw it was always packed. We decided to give it a try and were very pleased. The menu isn’t huge, but they...have a nice selection. We went for lunch. My husband had the fish sandwich, my daughter the shrimp, and my son had a turkey bacon sandwich and I had the pulled pork. All of it was really good! We had a small wait, and they were very apologetic, but this was to be expected as they had every other table closed, so they could safely distant guests from each other during the pandemic. There was no need for apologies!! The waitress was very nice and did a good job. Next year we plan to go back for breakfast.More

Sonny's is a local tradition - outstanding local food and superb service. Have eaten here many times and will continue to return. Breakfast, lunch or dinner - A++.

I have reviewed Sonny's a couple of times in the past. I returned last week while on vacation in Hatteras and found that Sonny's is still great! Everything I ordered for breakfast was cooked perfectly. The service was extremely friendly and the prices were very...reasonable. I enjoyed the breakfast so much that I returned for lunch later in the week! This is a spot I never fail to stop at when in Hatteras.More

My Wife & I ate for the first time at Sonny's on October 17. We had passed the place many times over the last few years, but had never eaten there. Big Mistake on our part. Many/most of the roads in Hatteras village were still...flooded from the recent storms, but Sonny's was open & thriving. The service was outstanding, and the food was also. My wife had the flounder stuffed with crab imperial, and she loved it. I had the Captain's Platter (shrimp, scallops, oysters, clam strips, mahi mahi & absolutely the best crabcake I have ever tasted). Unlike most restaurant crabcake, there was no filler material used, just pure crab meat. The hushpuppies were as good as any I have ever had, with enough onion to have a great flavor. This was our first visit, but most definitely will not be our last. The menu choices were more numerous, & the prices more reasonable than most of the seafood restaurants on the Banks.More
