I ordered takeout from China Gourmet recently and was very pleased overall. The gentlemen at the front was very friendly. They had two sizes of General Tso Chicken, the smaller of the two costing $10. It came with an enormous amount of fried rice and an egg roll. I couldn’t imagine the large size! The small was enough for two meals for me, and I generally am not one to undereat. I would definitely recommend this place for takeout orders. They have a large menu which contains all the classics and more.

If you are a first timer calling in an order or walk in the owner will remember you by name. China Gourmet is the place go for great food and great service. The price is reasonable with large amounts. Whether dine in or carryout this is the place to get great food.

Egg drop soup and fresh made egg rolls. So good went back two days later. Tired the egg fuyung. Great. Will definitely be back.

Greasy food

The chicken and broccoli was saturated with grease. Then owner named Hunter got upset because I wanted a refund. Very unprofessional guy.

Need a better Chinese than here

I have went to better Chinese restaurant than this one. I came from NYC where you can find oriental food. This is not Chinese food. I hate doing this but I got to drive far to get real Chinese food.

Good Chinese takeout

Love their food, always fresh veggies in their dishes and good selections,portions are large so sharing is always an option. It is our go to for take out. Great staff.

Best Eggroll and Crab Rangoon Ever

Eggroll made fresh and it was the best I have ever had. We had pepper steak and onions that had a great sauce and was fresh. The beef was chewy and that is the only reason for the 4 and not 5. Very friendly staff and owner. The crab Rangoon was the most generous portion of crab I have ever had and it was delicious. That was a 5 for sure. I would like to try chicken when I return. The portions are so big, I would recommend kid portions.

This is Gastonia so my expectations were low but you have got to be kidding

Rolled the dice and ordered take out on 4/29. I've had nothing but wretched Chinese food in Gastonia so , honestly I knew better as this place was no different . I wouldn't see a doctor , dentist or emergency room in Gastonia so I'm not sure why I thought buying Chinese takeout would be a good experience . For those of you who rated this place 4 or 5 stars, are you kidding???? This was trailer trash Chinese plain and simple . All I can say is I did not get sick . This is on me and totally my fault. I was fooled by the 11 good reviews. I got exactly what I deserved .

Eat In, Take Out - It's Fantastic Chinese Fare!

This is a small restaurant in a strip shopping center that is serving up fantastic Chinese food. The owner is very interactive with all the patrons eating in or taking out orders. We ordered combination plates of Chicken with Chinese vegetables and Hunan Beef. We received very generous portions of the chicken and beef as well as the fried rice. The fried rice was loaded with vegetables and meats in every bite. The egg roll was crunchy and huge in size. We were pleased with all the offerings and will return soon.

This is a really good Chinese, but a bit pricey considering you eat off of plastic plates! I understand that it is mostly geared for take out, but when you do eat in. How about REAL plates?? Plastic forks? Our bill for two was nearly $28.00.

I just think if you're gonna give a Chinese restaurant 5 stars then you shouldn't get a pile of crap rice so Americanized it's just brown greasy junk. Real fried rice should still look slightly white & have at least some scallions/onions & egg. I prefer mine w sprouts as well. Yes the portions are large but I prefer QUALITY OVER QUANTITY! Now the egg rolls are great better than most you'll find. Soup looked good but didn't taste it. Owner is nice Please FIX YOUR FRIED RICE. Also couldn't tell the difference between honey chicken & general tsos chicken. Although the chicken part was actually good. Wake up& please serve some good Chinese around here! We don't have a 5 star spot. For $20 bucks for 2 combos please.

Best Chinese in Gastonia!

By far the best Chinese food in Gastonia. The owner, Hunter, is great and remembers everyone. Happy long time employees ensure the food tastes just as good each visit. Great spot to catch a mid afternoon game of chess with Hunter but be warned... He is GOOD!

Great little place for quality chinese

If you haven't tried, you need to. The owner is Hunter and makes some great food. Been going here for years and love their General Tsaos Chicken. Eggrolls are awesome too!
