We have eaten at FB. To be honest , it was a few years ago. It has always been excellent and the service was good. The wife and I ate lunch there yesterday ( 10/29/202). We were seated in a timely manner. The hostess was...nice and friendly. I ordered the pulled pork platter with a Brunswick stew and slaw. I thought it took a little too long to serve our food. I also requested the hot BBQ sauce. The stew was served first as a salad is sometimes. The stew was not very good. The stew had an after taste that was not very pleasant. It is hard to describe but the taste was as if it was not fresh or it was cooked with some unfresh ingredients or it had been stored in a freezer for a long time. I could only eat only 1/2 of the small cup of stew and I love good stew. The next item I tried to eat was the pulled pork. The first bite of the pork was terrible. Why it was too salty? Good pork does not need much salt . I thought that I need to put some of their BBQ sauce to dilute the salty taste. and that did not work. It was still too salty. Not only the pork was too salty but it was too tough. I tried to get through the tough pork and eat through this salty tough pulled pork but to no avail. I could only get through 1/2 of the PP platter. I left the rest to be tossed. The Texas toast was the only thing that was worth a flip. Be fore warned Y'all, You are taking a risk eating Fat Buddies pulled pork and stew. I love good pork and stew, I cook my own pork and stew, This was the worst Pulled pork and stew the I have ever tried to eat.More
Things are a bit different at Fat Buddies during the pandemic. Hosting is done outside and they seem to alternate sides of the restaurant for seating. Everyone is properly masked.
I had the sliced barbecue sandwich with sweet potato tots. I think I prefer sliced...pork now. Never had sweet potato tots before. They came with some cinnamon spread on the side which I thought overwhelmed the tots which on their own are ... nice. I only eat french fries and regular tots for the ketchup anyway. My husband's brisket sandwich was very good, "but not Stubby's" (in Hot Springs, AR). Picky picky.More
We were on vacation in Franklin, north Carolina. Decided after a day out touring would stop for bbq to take bake to cabin. Due to covid was told all take out orders were taken in front of restaurant. Please ordered with a young girl that...was not overly excited about her job. She had to go inside several times while taking my order. After taking order I was told it would b we over 20 to 25 minutes for order, which being from the southern and having lived in Texas several years was a shock. Most bbq places everything is usually ready . We ordered ri b.f s baked beans, mac and cheese, brisket and pulled pork. The wait was more like 30 minutes. The restaurant was not packed and it was a Friday afternoon. Fyi the food was really good.More
We got there around the busy time, we were able to eat outside. For an appetizer we got the fried mushrooms and boy were they good and hot. My husband got a salad and he said it was very good, I got the Brunswick stew...and hush puppies, both were good. Our waitress was great and very accommodating.More
Won’t be back!
First of all zero smoke or bbq flavor in the meat. The only bbq you get is the sauce they give you.
The meat is lunch meat
The portions on the platter were real portions so you get 3 bites of meat....unreal...for $16More
