Service was fast (seat yourself) and eggs almost cooked to order (over medium was actually over easy). Biscuits were very good as was the coffee. Stone faced waitress was not too friendly (is it really that hard to smile?). Lots of locals hashing over the Presidential election, which was entertaining. Cost about $18 for two with tip.

Another spot that locals patronize. We had a very good breakfast there. Clean; good service, cheerful. They do not take credit cards. We passed it frequently on the way to town and there were always many cars in the parking area.

This restaurant is located nearby to the friends we often visit in Franklin. We have eaten here several times. But this time we submit this review. It is an interesting business that has been here many, many years. The waitresses are businesslike and competent. The food is adequate but seems to lack any distinction. Except for the desert pies -... More

Depending on what you are wanting to eat, this is either the perfect place--or not. Breakfast is generally good-eggs, hash browns, bacon, grits, etc... Coffee is plentiful, service is friendly. Lunch and dinner is diner type food-very adequate, but not for those looking for something more eclectic. This is CASH only-accepts checks too, I think. I know it accepts local... More

If your only criteria is "they serve food," then yeah this place is awesome. Our standards are a little higher. I found this place straight out of 1950 and the menu is pathetic. It's indicative of the town of Franklin - not tourist friendly. They are not going to change their ways to encourage outsiders to hang around. They don't... More

We stopped in because of staying in the area. I choose home cooked restaurants when I am traveling. This was a clean and friendly atmosphere. Food was fine.

I like to find "hole in the wall" places, where the locals go, that usually have great food. Here's my experience at the Sunset Restaurant. We found out about this place from a lady at the Visitors Center. She said that this is where the locals go to eat and that the pie was fantastic. When we got there we... More

This place has been around since 1945 so it's got to have something going for it to last that long. It's cash or check only, no credit cards. It's located about a mile from the center of Franklin and has plenty of parking. They even offer a drive up take out service where a waitress comes out to your car... More

We stopped here after some gem mining. Food was cheap and good. Desserts were the highlight of the meal. We tried coconut pie, lemon pie, egg custard, and pecan. All were excellent! Make sure to save room for dessert. For family of 4 with dessert out meal was 35 dollars! Cheapest meal all trip!

While on a recent road trip, we came here for breakfast at the advice of a friend and I am so glad we did! We got there seconds before they stopped serving breakfast, hadn't realized it and would certainly have been fine with ordering lunch instead but, they graciously offered to let us order anyway and then extended the time...
