The CoVid 19 issue has made routine life a challenge for all, and for none more than restaurants. Speedy Chef has worked hard to adapt, starting with just takeout and more recently with dine-in as well, under controlled conditions, including outside dining. The quality and...variety of the food stays strong ... don’t know how they do it; for example, a choosy friend declares their flounder sandwich the best he has had, and he has had many. The burgers are excellent, and love their dipped cones, floats and especially hot fudge sundae with nuts and whipped cream. Banana pudding to die for. Service ususually, not always, exceptional. Family owned and operated for decades ...try it, you will like it.More

I love their footlong hot dogs and tator tots. My cousin was in town for the first time for several years and this was where she wanted to eat. She said that no place has a footlong hot dog like Speedy Chef!

I just ate at Speedy Chef and was so disappointed that I couldn't wait to write this review. I went in to order a Classic Burger (which are pretty good), but saw that they had a "Ribeye Steak Sandwich" on "special" (not a special price,...just a feature, I suppose). I was asked how I wanted it cooked, I replied medium rare. Upon seeing it, I would have laughed out loud had I not been so annoyed. It was a very flat (think the size of a SLICE of steak), greasy (had to soak up the grease with a napkin), and surrounded by fat and gristle. I took off the ring of fat as best I could, soaked up the grease and tried to make the best of a bad meal. It is so weird that they ask how you want it cooked when there is no way such a micro thin piece of meat could be cooked like a regular "ribeye." Of course, I did not expect a nice piece of steak on a steak sandwich, but come on, people, please rename it to slice of steak sandwich. Will not try that again.More

Stopped at Speedy Chef with my wife and relatives from the area while visiting from Florida. The hot dogs reminded my wife of growing up nearby and visits to Speedy Chef with her older brother. My Club sandwhich was superb. Sure, there was a wait,...but the food is hot and fresh. Try the banana pudding! I never eat desert but couldn't resist. The owner stopped by our table to say hi and it was his grown son who took our order. Family style cooking made by family. The drive from Florida was worth it :-)More

My wife and I ate here during Trail Days. It was really good. Counter staff was exceptionally friendly. Prices are very reasonable and food good. Definitely will return again. Lots of desserts to choose from.

A burger place with a variety of dining selections. Sunday's plate lunch, is great, cafeteria style and is very popular. This popular spot has been here for a long long time and remains competitive with all the new dining experiences that come to town. Try...it it you'll like it!More

One of my favorites when visiting Elkin. Pretty sure I gained 10 pounds this past week because they have the best breakfast biscuits in town! They also serve lunch and dinner and I've not found anything there yet that i didnt like. Convenient for a...quick, delicious bite! ❤More

We were hungry and near this spot. It was 2 PM on a Saturday and the parking lot was packed so we decided it must be good. It was a little busy but you order at the front, get drinks and they bring you the...order. I had a hamburger and a salad that was large and good. My wife had a fish sandwich and slaw. Really good food, the locals like it, obviously.More
