Wife and I stopped here for dinner while passing through town. Superb meal, in every way. Ambience is unique, although we would have preferred not to eat in the bar. Local craft beer was good but best of all it was served in a frosted mug. For dinner, I had the Bourbon Street Mahi and my wife had the Katsu Chicken. Both were unique - slightly spicy/very tasty. For dessert we shared a hot brownie with ice cream. The menu selection is extensive and we’ve already picked out what we’ll get when we return.
TIPS: Call ahead to reserve a spot for a cosy room inside the main house. Also, since portion sizes are generous, suggest ordering 1/2 size entrees lso you have plenty of room for dessert. Finally, ask for Noah to serve you - he’s terrific.

Met a friend of ours for dinner and wine and Montero's did not disappoint. First, the wine prices are excellent. We had a Napa Valley Cab, the price at the restaurant is the same price as in Total Wine - not the usually 3-400% markup. Service, despite COVID was fine, the meals were all excellent. Scallops cooked right with the proper sear, other entrees were very good. Overall, not many great options in Elizabeth City other than Montero's and a few others - can't go wrong here.

Overall, this is a great restaurant. The ambience is good. The prices are very reasonable. The service was very good. They also have a really good menu with tons of vegan options. Unfortunately, I cannot score this place a perfect 5 because one of the two pork chops I ordered was completely fat. Of note, I paid extra for the second pork job. I brought this problem to the attention of our waitress, and while she was very apologetic, she didn't deduct the $4 for the unbeatable pork chop.

I am sorry that we disappointed you with the 2nd chop and didn't handle the charge as we should have....but your willingness to share your experience will help us with making sure we don't make that mistake again. Me and my wife were in town to run the Coast Guard Marathon. The food was excellent! I had the seafood pasta which was done perfectly. The shrimp and scallops were cooked just right - not overdone. The pasta was cooked just enough to be chewy bit not mushy. Though the menu indicated that the seafood pasta was with a cream sauce, it was actually very light and did not make the dish heavy. My wife had the scallops. Again, perfectly prepared.
In addition, the service was excellent. As others have indicated, this is a family run establishment - and it shows in a good way. The owner came by multiple times to chat and ensure things were good. He even gave some recommendations on Virginia beach restaurants. Several others also came by during our meal just checking if we needed anything.
This was a very refreshing dining experience. We would highly recommend this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

We loved this restaurant; but where do I start?
COVID: This restaurant follows the social distancing guidelines in a kind, caring and
respectful way. The placed tables in a way that makes everyone enjoy; but at the same time respect others space.
Food: Every plate they served us became an instant favorite... where have you heard about Kungfu Tot’s appetizer or Bourbon St. Mahi?, both must amazingly rich and yummy. How about their bread? The choice of dishes keep everyone happy. For instance they have a dish that one of my party tried, the Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese and he finished it and commented that it was done to perfection. Not a remark he makes commonly. I could go on; But just writing this makes my mouth water.
This restaurant is an instant favorite and a jewel. Thank you for offering and keeping this rich balance especially needed during this difficult time.

Love this place. It’s such a family atmosphere with the staff. They offer half sizes on meals which is awesome and I always leave full on the half size. The bangin shrimp and chicken dishes are my favorites.

Exceptional! This place has an amazing environment with the kindest staff. The food is amazing with a vast amount of choice and variety. The food is fresh and the restaurant is spotless. The business is family-owned, and the owners Karen and Andy are some of the most amazing people. They run local fundraisers and do things like bring in breakfast for the high school teachers. Montero's is not just a restaurant, but a place to laugh and make memories with family and friends. You will never have to worry about how your food is going to taste. Your experience is truly up to you!

Went to Montero’s to celebrate my sisters birthday! The staff and owners, Andy and Karin made it so special. It was busy, since it was a Saturday night, but they still made each table feel special. We started off with appetizers of calamari and roast beef tips. Both were amazing.
Three of us had the Prime Rib and it was cooked perfect as ordered. It was tender and flavorful. It came with a fresh crisp salads and a perfectly baked potatoes. Crisp on outside fluffy on the inside. My husband had their tender and fall off the bones rack of ribs. He got the dry rub with the barbecue sauce on the side. Wow, the were delectable!! Of course one of the highlights of the meal is their basket of warm bread and out of this world muffins. Soooo good!!! Also my Pina Rita was one of the best drinks I’ve had. From start to finish it was a perfect dining experience and a wonderful birthday celebration

My family and I enjoyed a lovely dinner on a Summer evening. The service was not great initially - we had an issue with our reservation and the hostess was not very kind in solving the problem. Yet the service was great for the rest of our experience. The menu is extensive with several vegan options. Our appetizer and entrees were very satisfying. The dessert menu is also abundant in delicious options. We shared a couple desserts, both of which were excellent. The atmosphere is not anything exceptional. There is one large dining room that has no windows which feels quite dull. The room in which we were seated was perfectly fine, although very plain. Overall, we had a positive experience and would return; but a few minor disappointments in the initial service and atmosphere warrant my four star review.

This restaurant was amazing!! Although I really wish they had outdoor seating to complete the dining experience, the grounds were beautiful and the restaurant itself is very well kept. For the most part, the staff was very kind and attentive. The menu was absolutely fantastic- everyone in our group had trouble picking just one entree! The appetizers and desserts were incredible as well. I especially appreciated all of the wonderful vegan options! This place is definitely on the nicer side- we felt a bit underdressed in our casual clothes. Overall, this was a great meal from start to finish!

Outstanding food, efficient and personable service, quiet, good wine and beer list. Varied menu-anyone can find something to eat. And the owners clearly take great pride in meeting and spending time with their customers. Not to be missed!

It was pre NYE and the place was packed. I will start by saying the attention and service was spot on. Food was [this night] very average. Fish was dry and chicken was tough and over cooked. We will give them another try but this time left something to be desired. We tipped in regard to the service - not the kitchen i am sorry to say.

I recently attended my high school class reunion at Montero’s. In addition to great planning by the reunion team, Montero’s did an excellent job with the food and beverages. The food was tasty and at a good temperature (even as a buffet). The room was arranged for maximum socializing and movement. Looking forward to eating there again for a private meal.

Montero's is offering take out soup right now. Yesterday's chick pea curry was so good we went back again today. We got the vegan vegetable-just as delicious!
Call ahead and they will have a quart waiting for you. It's divine.

Amazing food and delightful ambiance. Wonderful family owned establishment that does it all right! My husband was running the Coast Guard marathon and we decided to give Me metros a try. Seafood options were delicious. Try the shrimp and grits!
