If you're looking for an authentic experience, the family of chefs at El Chapin kitchen offers delicious, flavorsome and complex Guatemala dishes that are profoundly appealing. I love the Carne Adobada which is marinated filet pork loin cooked on a grill with an amazing seasoning....The rice is so flavorful, and the refried beans are whipped into the smoothest I have ever had. My son's shared the La Parillada Para Dos which combines carne adobada steak, and pork with chicken asado. It was AMAZING! They both were served with a side of salad, rice, beans, and house made tortillas. Get the fried plantains they come with Guatemalan cream, and have a soft sweet middle with a nice crunch on the ends. I have come here several times now and each meal has been delicious. Have a side of pupusas stuffed with beans and cheese, with slaw. My husband ordered the Chicharrones Chapines which were nuggets of fried to perfection pork that were exquisitely crunchy. We took home some churros a sweet, sugar-dusted treat, as we had purchased on a previous visit an IM Guatemala chocolate bar for dipping, Yum! This colorful setting mixes a restaurant along with a specialty market with shelved walls of great items and products, organized and neat. The cakes and pastries are homemade and divine, alongside; a "fantastic" staff who are polite and tend to your needs. My wife and her sister discovered this place about a month ago. We finally went there last night. The food was excellent, the wait staff were friendly and helpful, the place was clean but the atmosphere was more like a grocery store with tables. I...had absolutely no problem with this but others might. I had a delicious pupusas for an appetizer and we both had the taquitos dorados de pollo which we both finished even though it was a large portion. We will definitely go back.More

We returned for lunch with a couple from Minneapolis. We each had something different and all were very satisfied. The garnachos were delicious and fresh, the chicken special was also very good. We would eliminate the beet coleslaw, not really beets but more pink coleslaw.

This restaurant is such a find especially since it is in a shopping mall of 15/501, wedged in between other stores. The service was quick, kind and helpful. The choices plentiful and this is the real deal. Authentic Guatemalan food fit for the pickiest of...eaters at fantastic prices, plus Guatemalan snacks and products you can purchase for home. I had a tamale filled with pork, it was an appetizer and it was big enough for a meal with a side of coleslaw salad with unique tangy and tart flavors. The corn tamale was fluffy and light and the filling was filled with chunks of savory pork in a brown sauce with vegetables. The whole thing cost $3.50!!! We came in here with a Guatemalan friend who spoke highly of this place. The setup is pretty straightforward and traditional. We had the Tamalitos De Chipilin, Pollo En Peppian along with Fried Plantains and Tortillas. The portions were good and the food came out...great!More

Being intrigued for several weeks, we decided to order from the little El Salvadoran restaurant we passed. What a flavor surprise! The carnachos were delicious, the El Salvadoran chicken tender and flavorful and the other items were top notch. The only item we weren’t totally...happy with was the steak choice. Nothing fancy, but really good with generous portions. I had a sampler platter and was rewarded with perhaps the best chili relleno I have ever had. Much more than just the cheese-smothered pepper that seems to be the norm. Great desserts too — mango with...chili is tasty and not super hot. Caters to the Guatemalan community but really friendly to visiting gringos. Worth visiting often!More

Tasty food, nice variety, inexpensive. There is also a little Hispanic market and bakery in the restaurant. Great place to have a nice, fast but not fast food, lunch.

I was looking for a local restaurant with the closest authentic cuisine. Food was great and I had a guanábano drink with was a very pleasant experience. Totally recommend.

The food was delicious! It was tucked away in a strip mall and I would have never have seen it. Thank you TripAdvisor for making places like this easy to find. I will definitely eat here again when I am back in town.

We tried this Guatemalan restaurant on the spur of the moment, and we were glad we did. The atmosphere was cheery, the staff were friendly, and the food supplies along one wall (geared to a Guatemalan clientele) were interesting to peruse. This is a small...family-run restaurant; they were patient in explaining the menu and made sure we were satisfied throughout the meal. Both of our meals were excellent--well prepared using fresh ingredients. We don't know a lot about Central American cuisine, but we both enjoyed the flavors of our meals.
