Vin rouge better food, service and ambiance. I had the prix fix and it was good and if vin rouge didn't exist it would be the best French in town.

We stopped at Rue Cler spontaneously with another European family at around 5pm on a Sunday and was excited to taste some delicious French food. The food was fantastic but the staff was completely unfriendly to our families! We had three small kids who were hungry but not too loud or fussy and the staff acted like they had never... More

While traveling through Durham we randomly chose Rue Cler. It turned out to be an excellent decision. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Prix Fixe menu was $35 per person and included three courses. Everything was appropriately seasoned and cooked to perfection. Portions were ample but sized to accommodate all three courses. For dessert we had salted caramel... More

Had the seafood omelet with a salad which was the daily special. In anticipation of the omelet, I starter with the salad which was the hit of the meal. Salad was excellent, the seafood omelet was also very good but did I say the salad was excellent. My wife had the other special that day and her's was also very... More

The food here is awesome! I would say that this place is an American French restaurant by there dishes. We went on a Thursday night and it wasn't too busy. They have some great drinks for $10... making it not the cheapest drink but definitely worth it. We got the flank steak and coq au vin which were both delicious.... More

Before she left Durham to attend graduate school, my daughter and I dined regularly at Rue Cler. We always enjoyed it. It is a welcoming place; not the least bit pretentious. The food is good. We have both especially appreciated the pork belly appetizer. The service is fantastic. I strongly recommend it as a charming place to enjoy a nice... More

Found this place by mistake which was a great find on our way to an event. Walking in to the decor was surprising as the walls are unfinished to make it appear of an old European building. Structural material sticking out, holes in walls and not painted. The lunch menu is simple and just the right size with European flare.... More

The best food and ambiance in downtown. We went for a birthday for a family member. Had the prix fixe and had three wonderful courses. Broccoli tempura, pieroges and tilefish with lady peas. The service was fabulous. A wonderful evening all around.

This is a lovely French-style restaurant in downtown Durham. The meals are simple, elegant, and tasty. Nice place for a business lunch or visit with friends. I was there recently for a business lunch and they placed us in a quiet place so that we cold talk. I've been to France a couple of times and this place captures the... More

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Durham. Great food, great service, great wines, we go here for a special night out. We also love to go on Saturday mornings for coffee and freshly made beignets.

Using our extensive network of regional farmers and fishermen and our close friends in the wine business, we have tried to adapt the experience of a Parisian neighborhood restaurant to offer a unique dining experience. Our food is inspired by French tradition and seasonal, local produce. The wines we serve are all made by vignerons that we know personally, who themselves love food, and who craft their wine to showcase the specific terroir, while harmonizing with the meal. Most of our vignerons practice biodynamic or organic farming.

Our prix fixe dinner menu showcases the freshest ingredients the southeast has to offer, prepared simply and with care, served at a bargain price.

We also serve classic bistro and brasserie dishes a la carte. Our popular lunch and brunch services feature French-styled sandwiches, crepes, salads, and more.
