I really enjoyed my meal at the Q shack. Even though the air conditioning was broken on a hot August day, the quality of the food outweighed any inconvenience caused by the weather. I had the ribs and sausage combination. I would recommend the ribs any day. I think I needed to put more sauce on the sausage. I've had... More

The Q Shack is a local treasure for a taste of NC barbecue. The 'ambiance' is not fancy but the food is very good and the people are friendly and get great food out to you quickly. They are good folks as well - I left a cell phone there on my trip and they went out of their way... More

I'm not a huge fan of beef brisket, but these folks do it well - would rival Rudys in Austin. Pair it with fried okra (cooked to order) and slaw. Lots of interesting people to share a table with.

This is an informal, stand in line and order kind of place. Prices are modest but the food is delicious. You'll leave feeling full. Seating is picnic tables inside and out.

They make pretty decent brisket considering pork is king here. I grew up in Dallas, TX, and I cut my teeth eating Sonny Bryan's. There is a nice variety of sides; the mac and cheese is good, and while the fried okra came out of the freezer, it was tasty too. I think it's a bit pricy, but I've never... More

Q-shack is a great place to for Friday night supper. But be forewarned, very popular, so busy. The line moves quickly. My favorite is the beef brisket and sweet potato tots. Causal dining.

A couple of buddies were looking for a causal bbq restaurant. The Q Shack delivers and then some. The brisket was perfect along with great sides. There were several sauces that matched up with chicken, pork, beef or turkey. There was entertainment provided by a bluegrass band. I will eat there every time I have to visit Duke.

very limited vegetarian options. Lots of fried or greasy or meat options. People with me who still eat meat thought the meat was pretty good.
