One of the best Mexican restaurants in the Triangle with plenty of vegetarian options. Great customer service!

My wife and I ate here on a trip into Durham for a doctor's appointment. It was the first inside restaurant meal we've had since February. I ordered the shrimp taco salad. It was good, different from the usual taco salad with pork or beef. This was not one to add salsa to, but it was moist and had a lot of sauteed pepper and onion in with it. My wife got one of the combo platters that included enchiladas and tacos and she enjoyed it. Service was fast. The free tortillas and salsa were good. I thought the prices were a bit high for lunch.

For many years, El Dorado has been the go-to family owned and operated Mexican Restaurant chain of the Triangle. Probably better know for its lunch service given proximity to RTP, we tend to visit in the evenings. We've been coming by here about monthly since the 1990s. The staff is always very friendly, attentive, and ready to make adjustments to menu items. The food comes out quickly and you can depend on your waiter to follow-up to refill chips or drinks. The atmosphere is very casual. The food is "traditional" Mexican-American fare plus a selection of additional entree items that have seemingly evolved with the restaurant's experiences. You'll see all the standard favorites on the menu but also some items a bit unexpected. An example of this is "La Cazuela." Rather than the the typical soup/stew meal one imagines with a cazuela, this is instead a surprisingly tasy steak, chicken, and chorizo combo plate. Of course, as Mexican food should always be - this place is a value - fairly sized portions a good prices. (Bonus: There's also usually some cheap draft beer special to wash it all down!)

I was hungry, and i didn’t want to cook that day. So i chose this restaurant to eat. The waitress was just too demanding, and rude. I think her name was Iris, overall she was below average.. Also, i waited like 30 minutes just to get the tamales, and enchiladas. The tamales and enchiladas are too salty and greasy. I don’t recommend this restaurant.

It's located in a strip mall, but has plenty of seating. Portions are huge and the bottomless chips and salsa are always a crowd pleaser. Wait staff friendly and attentive.

A friend invited me to join her for dinner here. I found the chips/queso and the atmosphere to be fantastic. The menu has a wide variety and plenty of options and sides and they were able to substitute out the beans for rice for my friend. The food comes is very large portions so I was able to enjoy some for lunch the next day. I found the staff to be very pleasant and not pushy at all - our waitress filled our water glasses without us asking and allowed us to stay and talk for awhile after we completed our meals. My only complaint is their website - broken links and couldn't find nutrition info. The food was worth the splurge, but I like to stay on top of my calorie intake/day.

We had dinner while in the area. It was close to the hotel. Everything was good. The food was good as was the service. The prices are what you would expect for this type of restaurant. I would not have a problem going back.

We were taken to this restaurant by my Aunt and Uncle who live near Durham. They frequent the restaurant often and said it was really good food. My uncle ordered a giant margherita and it was huge. The food we ordered was so good! The amount of food was tremendous as well. We would definitely return there again when visiting.

We went to this strip mall for sushi, but it was not what we expected. We saw El Dorado at the other end and thought “Why not?” The shrimp tacos were tasty and the extra hot salsa was just that. I mixed it with their regular salsa and it was perfect. Service was friendly and prompt too.

My business colleague and I stopped by for lunch at this Mexican restaurant. We both enjoyed our food and the service was fine. We were there later in the afternoon and there were many people there so I am thinking that this is a place that people often go to on a regular basis. I had a plate that had a beef and chicken enchilada along with rice and beans and it was just as good as I would've would have hoped.

Good service but daily drinks specials on Mexican beer beer are no longer offered on weekends. Chips were warm. I ordered the chunks of ribeye steak in Chile Colorado but was disappoint the chunks were really thin strips. The Chile Colorado was a pale red and had no flavor. Also ordered a beef tamal which ended up being a chicken tamal with a ground beef sauce poured over it. Disappointing. This use to be a good place to eat but have to say it might of lost its groove. Will not eat here again.

Service was great but the food was lacking. Salsa was ok, nothing special, but it had more salt than I have ever had in a salsa before. I ordered a combination platter with a taco, burrito and chile relleno. The waiter did tell me that I didn't have to go with the beef and allowed me to change to chicken, which is more than most waiters would do. However, the chicken tasted like it had been boiled and wasn't tender at all. I'm about 90% sure that my chile relleno was a stuffed green pepper and the ground beef was not very tasty. Everything was over-salted.

Service with a smile. Fish tacos, I add avacoda slices & a tiny bit of hot salsa and they were yummy. The hot salsa was a bit sneaky, not too hot at first, heat came later.

Good food and pretty extensive selection. Their hot salsa is REALLY hot. I highly recommend if you like very hot food! Server was friendly but difficult to understand.
