We had a 7:15 reservation and were seated and ordered pretty quickly. About 45 minutes later we were told there was a delay. Then we were told 5 more minutes… around 8:15 we asked for something— anything— to eat and we were brought 2 little...pieces of focaccia and some olives for a party of four. We finally got our food at around 8:30 after the closed sign had been turned over and the staff was all gathered to do what appeared to be an after hours dinner together. Honestly the food was good but after waiting so long I was kind of put off and it was hard to enjoy it. The portions are very small in my opinion and based on local pricing I can’t say it is particularly pricey but it is definitely not inexpensive. The menu is very limited. There was a moderately large party at the front of the restaurant but other than that we were at one point the only other customers. Our wait staff was pleasant and apologetic but it really didn’t cut it. I definitely would not recommend it or return. And I know we are in a post- Covid- short staffed world but it really appeared to me that there was plenty of staff.More

We returned to this restaurant after a few years. It didn’t live up to its memory. The food was way overpriced for the quality. Their menu was small and some of the items were not accurate because they were getting ready to print new menus...apparently. Overheard a waiter saying the ice maker was broken. Noticed the windows were filthy. Makes me wonder what else wasn’t clean and functional in the kitchen. The place is small and it wasn’t very busy. The food was average at best. Not worth the cost.More

Pros: Great food. Shrimp and grits is amazing. And the staff is very nice. Cons: weird bathroom situation, didn’t seem very clean, and the overall price point didn’t match the overall experience. $130 for a family of four which included two kids meals and only...two can beer…More

The restaurant is still getting up and running for the 2022 season and I believe just opened this week. Ample Parking available. Casual dining. Mid price range. We secured reservations for 5 pretty easily. We got in at 6:30 before the place filled up. Dinner...took awhile to arrive, about 30 minutes. Its a small place with a small kitchen, and they are just working out the "bugs" of opening up so to speak. Staff is friendly and attentive. The food was fantastic. I had the crab cake and corn chow chow appetizer and the special salad with pistachios, balsamic vinaigrette, assorted greens and strawberries and feta. There was too much dressing on the salad, sadly. It was oversaturated and I did not finish. The others at the table had the two steak dinners: "steak frites" and another one on the specials menu. Both were fantastic. We did not have dessert. We had one bourbon cocktail I will come again and will recommend to others.More

Food was excellent for both appetizers and entrees. Service was a tad slow due to the shortage of staff that most restaurants are experiencing lately. Prices were decent for the quality of the food. Would definitely recommend and will go again.

This is a great place in Duck. We got to town early for our weekly rental and had time to kill at Sunday lunchtime. We got seated right away (inside) with a party of 9. The food was good. Service was good.

First want to say our server was amazing! She made sure we had everything we needed and being a party of 12 she did a great job! Some of the food dishes weren’t so great.....the had a special prime rib with potatoes and broccolini. Well...the prime rib was way over cooked and we weren’t even sure if it was prime rib. The biggest thing is it was very pricey. Yes you can send it back but we didn’t bother cause it would been a few. There were a couple dishes that were good. We tried the fried cauliflower and it was delicious. Not everyone can good meat to everyone’s liking I guess. Wish I could remember the servers name SHE WAS AWESOME!More

Two couples having dinner. 4 cocktails no prices listed $12 each. Good food above average. No starters chosen. 4 entrees. Total ticket with tip. $200+ So surprised as windows were dirty at sunset and floors were filthy looking as if not cleaned in weeks.

While exploring the Outer Banks for the first time, my wife and I had a desire to visit Duck, NC. After a day of sightseeing we were in for a light dinner. Red Sky Cafe was highlighted in Trip Advisor as a good place to...eat. Wow! According to my wife (a native from Annapolis, MD) the crab cakes were amazing done! Chef Wes stopped by our table and she personally thanked him. I had the Bitter Green and Buttons Salad with Scallops. The scallops perfect! The flavor of the mushrooms, crumbled goat cheese and fresh fig vinaigrette were a delight! Will come here again!More

My husband and I came up from pensacola fla. We had a hard time finding a restaurant open. We happened on the nc coast grill and bar. The service was great, the drinks and meal excellent, and we got to sit outside and it was beautiful....Our waiter suggested the red sky so we went there for lunch a couple of days later. It was AMAZING. Service was great, food was awesome and drinks were well made. I would go to to both places again and again. Oh, and the cheesecake at The Red sky was off the chain! New in town looking for a late lunch. We hit the jackpot here!! Great guy who waited on us. GREAT food..... Shrimp and Grits! Out of this world fantastic! And that homemade coconut cake was to die for. My husband and I were able to...share the main course as we are not big eaters. Plenty for both of us. And, we shared the dessert as well. Highly recommend!!More

We, a party of six, arrived for brunch at about 10:40am and were, as requested seated outside. The restaurant was not busy at this time. We got a drinks order but our food order was not taken till well after 11:00. After this a couple...with two children arrived and order a starter followed by a few main courses. Their starter arrived, they ate that, then their mains arrived. At about 11:45 four of the six meals arrived. I will say that the standard of the food was excellent but a couple of the meals were warm rather than hot. When I had nearly finished my meal the fifth meal arrived. Still no sign of the sixth plate (bacon, fried egg and home fries BTW). At this point we asked to talk with the manager. Had she come out with a sincere apology and explanation I would not now be writing this review. Instead she had the ‘facts’, she knew exactly to the minute when we were first registered in the computer, the exact time when our food order was entered into the computer and seemed to think that it was OK, because it was only 37.54 minutes ago that we ordered, one of our party still didn’t have their food when the rest of us were finished. Her attitude appeared to be ‘well how much do you want me to comp?’ This was disappointing because, as I said, the food was excellent. I’m guessing there was some issue because a restaurant could not survive as long as this one has with such bad service but it was the manager’s attitude that means we will not be going back. Incidentally this is not an empty threat of a tourist who will never be back to Duck, we have a place here and are the kind of people who would have supported you through your quieter off season! Finally, as far as we know there was no fault on the part of the waitress. We spoke to the waitress to explain we had no concerns with her or how she had treated us and specifically did not want to complain to her as it appeared to be issues with the kitchen and the fulfilling of orders in order.More

I believe, the location for Red Sky in PA was sold to another business looking to expand. Chef Wes is back at home at the original Red Sky in Duck, NC!
