The Paper Canoe never disappoints. Went with a group of friends - we each got salads and shared a pizza. The pizzas are relish! Great crusts! Good beers on tap - had a nice Corolla Blonde. The best part of the meal however was the dessert - beignets floating in a bittersweet chocolate with banana ice cream. Oh and the... More

Lovely restaurant overlooking the water. We went as a family of five and everyone had a great mel. We had a fantastic waitress from the Czech republic who was helpful and knowledgable and the owner was very welcoming as well.

We went to Paper Canoe for dinner twice during our 5-night stay in Duck. The first time we ordered just a few apps to share which were all wonderful. The second time we ordered a salad and two entrees. The smoked filet with brussels sprouts and sweet potato puree is a dish I'll dream about for years! Absolutely fantastic. Awesome... More

We spend a fair amount of time on the northern outer banks of NC and feel that no place can compare to the Paper Canoe for dining. The menu is creative but the preparation is exquisite. The crab cakes compare well with anyone's and the yellow tail is always great. And don't forget the scallops. They have about a dozen... More

We were recommended there by a local and it was spot on. Tommy greeted us at the door and made us feel as though we were his only guest that night.( Quite the opposite that night as the place was packed ) He seated us in the bar with a beautiful view of the sunset. The food was perfect (... More

The building looks a little rough and the windows aren't particularly clean, but the view of the sound was lovely and the food and service was amazing. we had a very pleasant experience and will definitely return.

I saw the sign for Paper Canoe on our drive to our house and suggested it for our final dinner in the Outer Banks. We ordered the Pork Belly as our appetizer (Crispy Pork Belly Confit, Four Cheese Ravioli, Tomato Demi, Sauteed Arugula - $14) and I ordered the Chef's Whim as my entree (Grilled Swordfish, Warm Slaw of Apple... Unaware of how popular this restaurant is, we showed up for dinner at 5:00 without reservations. I was kindly advised that reservations are usually booked three weeks in advance. As I was about to leave, the Owner (I presume) asked if we were ready to eat right then. I said yes and we were instantly seated at a great table... More

The owner worked us in after we showed up with no reservations. He texted us with info to get a great seat the next day. The jambalaya was marvelous, lots of flavor, shrimp, sausage. I loved the place would go everyday if I could make it.

The decor is simple in an understated type of way. We were seated at a high top in the bar which was unexpected since we did have a reservation but, the bar has a warm, welcoming feel to it. The food is a true reflection of farm (or in this case) sea to table movement which is the dominant trend... More
