We sat at the bar since we waited to call for the reservation the day we wanted to go. The bartender was really nice, the food was on point and we had a nice view of the sunset.

Paper Canoe is a great restaurant that we return to every year. The drinks are amazing and the food is excellent. The warm crab dip is always a great starter. The scallop dish is fantastic! We always get fish when we go, but they also have gourmet pizza, good option for more casual or for kids. My only complaint would... More

Our group tired this restaurant at our last night at the beach and we were not disappointed. There is a limited menu but everyone found something that they enjoyed and everyone thought their dish was the best. Great views but hard to see - but the inside was quaint and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The sweet corn chowder... More

This is our second visit to the Paper Canoe. Limited menu but excellent choices. We were a party Of 4. All dishes were excellently prepared and tasty. Not really kid friendly. Very nice atmosphere overlooking the water. But ...view was a bit obscured by less than clean windows. (In all fairness might be a little hard to keep clean in... More

Really good location. However, no outside seating. Great view. Decor fits more of a dive bar with awesome food, but menu is pricey...sort of a weird combo. Food is good though. Bar needs reservations...hate that. Would rather one or the other, legit dive or fancy. It's been pulled off before with success, but this particular mix is just a little... More

We went to this place on a whim, on our way back from surfing all afternoon. What a great surprise! Despite the fact that we weren't exactly dressed for dinner, the service was excellent, attentive and friendly. We were with our two kids (6 and 9) and everyone left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. The mussels were... More

Went on a Saturday evening to celebrate an anniversary. The food, service, and ambience were excellent. One hint, though. We went for a leisurely dinner and gave the waiter our cocktail and dinner selections at the same time. Lo and behold, the wine and dinner both came within 3 or 4 minutes. Lesson learned: If you want a leisurely, romantic... More

We arrived 15 minutes early for our 7/8/16 reservation. We were graciously greeted by owner who promptly seated us at a window table by the bar. Such a view could obscure a multitude of mediocrity - but no such deficiencies were detected. The staff seamlessly integrated world-class service into our dining experience with casual confidence. The art of unpretentious attentiveness... More

Located right on the water, there is no outdoor seating due to the high level of mosquitoes at certain times of the year. You can enjoy a drink on the deck while you await your table. Food was excellent, selections were a good showing of updated Southern with a twist. Catherine was our server and had great recommendations, highly attentive... More

We have now eaten at The Paper Canoe twice while visiting the Outer Banks. It is a small and cozy restaurant with great food and great views of the sound. The owner and servers are very nice and attentive. I had a tough time choosing between the smoked tenderloin or the fish special (Amberjack). Thankfully, we had a large group... More
