My wife and I choose Boots at the recommendation of the local hotel. We are steakhouse aficionados having eaten at world class steakhouses across the US and internationally and I have to admit, based on prior experiences we didn't expect much from such a rural...area. I am glad to say we were pleasantly surprised! The only less than stellar part of our evening was waiting outside to be seated due to Covid restrictions. We waited quite a while before the hostess came out to address us - I would recommend installing either a patio or infrared heater to keep your patrons warm during the winter months while they wait for a table.
We didn't have reservations so agreed to be seated at the bar rather than wait which turned out to be a great decision. The restaurant is very clean and the indoor and outdoor decorations reminded me of restaurants we had been to in Texas. The barkeeper who served us was very personable and attentive and took the time to create a custom holiday drink to my wife's delight. My wife ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer which she said were the best she has ever had - a good sign!
Our meals arrived within a reasonable amount of time and were hot and fresh. To hedge our bets, my wife ordered the NY Strip steak and I ordered their meatloaf thinking we could split the two meals just in case their steaks didn't meet the hype. Fortunately the NY strip was cooked perfectly, was tender and had great flavor! It wasn't the best steak we have ever eaten but was also less than half the price you would pay for a similar cut at a "high end" steakhouse. Based on this fact, you get a LOT of very good steak for your money. The meatloaf does not require any qualifiers as it was simply the best meatloaf I have ever had, probably because it is made from the excess trimmings of their steak. The flavor was rich and hearty and the tomato gravy was delicious. The mashed potatoes that came with the meatloaf were also excellent with a great flavor. Both entries were so good that we didn't end up sharing more than one bite of each other's meal.
So, in summary the establishment is clean and quaint with a really cool, very large outdoor seating area for warmer times of the year. Service is prompt and the staff is very pleasant and friendly. Finally, the food is indeed excellent for the price paid. We were very glad we came and will certainly eat at Boots again the next time we are in the area.More
