Best steak ever! Love the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese! Owner is super friendly and works as hard as her staff. Sat at bar to avoid wait. Great service in bar area. She was super busy with food orders and drink orders from wait...staff but still very attentive to us. Our favorite place to eat in Dillsboro! Can't wait to go again!More

My wife and I wanted something different for our 24th anniversary ! She wanted to take the Great Smoky Mountain train and settled on the Tuckaseegee River excursion ! A 1 1/2 hour train ride to a gorgeous little town called Dillsboro NC ! I...bet the entire town/village was 5 blocks but it was charming and just wonderful for a town that census says has 232 residents! We took the train back to Bryson City and as we were leaving we remembered “Boots Steakhouse” so as we were making our way back east we decided to drive to Dillsboro and go to Boots! Pauline I believe is the owner greeted us and was a wonderful host! The service was amazing and my wife and I agreed that this may be one of if not the best steak we’ve had! They even offered us a free cake for our anniversary! Wonderful experience in a small yet wonderful little town! Five stars easy for such a wonderful day with an amazing meal to finish it offMore

Do you just hate it when you talk up a restaurant, and it turns out to be a flop. Boots Steak House has always been a great experience, with good service and food. The portions are generous, the menu is diverse, and the wait staff...has always been friendly. Tonight the the heat in the dining room was unbearable, the A/C was non existent. The waitress while she was very cordial said the “A/C was just old” and offered no further suggestions. We made it through our meals and hurried out of the restaurant, after paying of course. We’ll try it again, maybe in the fall.More

To celebrate our 37th anniversary. my wife and I decide to try this restaurant. We had reservations but got seated immediately even showing up 10 minutes early. We started with deep fried mushrooms as appetizer and very much enjoyed them. We both had steaks, her...the sirloin, me the rib eye. They were done as requested and very juicy and flavorful. I also had a wedge salad, not the best one I've had but still good and not too large to fill me up before the steak came. My wife had the mixed vegetables and enjoyed them. We shared a slice of lemon pound cake for desert and it was very tasty. The waitress was friendly and prompt without rushing us and our drinks and food came out with good timing. We had time to finish our appetizer and salad before the main course came.More

Made a reservation and was sat immediately upon arrival. Another couple that arrived after us and did not have a reservation waited 20+ minutes to be seated (although there were open tables). Service was very very slow ... we waited 15 minutes after we ordered...for our bread to arrive. Ordered the crabcakes as an appetizer. Three small crab cakes were delivered about 30 minutes after being seated. The bottoms were burnt and they were very dry. Total disappointment. Another 40 minutes before our main course arrived. Steak was cooked well but not worth $35. Baked potato came out hot and fresh. Green beans were cold and had apparently sat for a while. I'm not sure why this place is #2 in the area as food was mediocre and the service was just bad.More

On our trip to Boots, we expected a wait (we were asked if we had reservations), but we were taken right in. Our first table was right where servers emerged from the kitchen, so we requested a move (the dining room was less than half...full) and we got a more comfortable seating. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, and our wine-by-the-glass pours were generous. We ordered an appetizer and an entree to share. The fried green tomatoes were absolutely wonderful, as was the pimiento cheese with which they were served. Yum! The chicken fried steak was heavily breaded but also good, and the sides (sauteed fresh veggies and mashed potatoes) were very tasty. When our bill arrived we were surprised that there was a $4 charge for sharing our entree. That was an unwelcome surprise. We had spent $55 on food and wine (before the extra $4), and didn't feel that getting an extra plate should have cost anything. Not cool. So, sharers beware. Additionally, the decor in the restaurant is, in our judgment, very dated, a bit dark and heavy. That may be what the owners are after, but to attract a younger crowd they might consider a makeover to lighten the atmosphere a bit. Notably, by the time we left around 7:45 the restaurant inside and outside was still less than half full.More

This place was exceptional from hello to goodbye. I was greeted in a rustic courtyard that serves as outside dining in the warmer months by Colleen, the most wonderful hostess I've ever encountered. The place was busy, as usual, but Colleen got me and my...bf in with only a 40 minute wait. It was worth every mile we drove (11/2 hours) and every minute we waited. The interior is rustic but elegant. Idk, but it's a perfect date night location or a good spot to celebrate. We started with the BBQ shrimp appetizer, Willy Joe got the 16 oz ribeye with a loaded baked potato and salad. I had surf and turf, filet and lobster with the same sides. Everything was delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The server, Lacey was friendly, informative and punctual. We've no complaints. I do suggest you plan on reservations 2 weeks in advance. YES, it's that good. We were so impressed, my bf had to say goodbye to Colleen and let her know how much we enjoyed the place as well as get his picture with our server. It's worth the drive......from anywhere.More

Made an outdoor reservation at this restaurant as a celebratory evening out and, after planning the evening and making the drive to the restaurant, was informed that there was no outdoor seating available (despite outdoor tables being set and seemingly ready). This is not the...first time we’ve made reservations at this restaurant for outdoor and upon arriving been told no outdoor dining was available. We gave the restaurant our phone number when we made the reservation, so had there been an event that legitimately prevented them from providing outdoor seating you would think they would call, but they didn’t. So given currently high rates of COVID transmission in the county, the CDC’s current guidelines to mask when indoors, and the age and health conditions of members in our party, we left. Honestly, any dining establishment failing to accommodate individuals with preexisting health conditions in these times (2 years into the pandemic now??) should be ashamed of their business practices, and Boots should be especially ashamed for falsely advertising that they do by accepting outdoor reservations when in fact, they don’t permit them. As a born and raised local who in the past has even recommended this restaurant to customers of our rental properties, this experience really saddened me, as did the utter disregard and rudeness of the management when I called to voice my concerns. And though I can’t make this dining establishment worthy of one’s time and money, I can absolutely share my personal experience so others are not subjected to similar disappointment.More

Definitely make reservations if you want to dine here. It was pretty busy but not crazy. It’s an easy process to make reservations and they are quite accommodating if you need to make changes. Sitting down, it took our server a while to acknowledge us....Understandably because it was a dinner rush. We ordered a mixed drink cocktail and tea, and the fried green tomatoes appetizer. I asked about the specials and needed a moment to decide between my first dinner choice and the special, so if asked the server to please come back in just a moment so I wasn’t wasting her time. Our tea and water came within a few minutes, but then we waited about 20 minutes more for our server to come back so we could order our dinner. She brought a burnt appetizer that was crusted over from sitting under a heat lamp for too long and a watered down cocktail (again, from sitting too long) Ordered our entrees and they were mediocre to bad. The filet is great quality and was cooked to perfection, but my steak was ordered at a medium and came out Pittsburgh style (rare with a charred outer), and was so peppered on one side it was difficult to eat. The baked potatoes were cooked so long they were petrified. We had heard so many wonderful things and were completely disappointed. I think with better service this would have been a wonderful experience. I did tip our server well, because I’m not a monster, but if we come back I will refuse to be waited on by that person again.More

My husband and I made reservations for Valentine’s weekend. We were greeted by the owner and seated right away. She was very friendly and explained that they make everything fresh to order so it’s good that we had a reservations because that allows them to...better control the flow and minimize waits to get the food out. Really cute atmosphere with lights strung around an outdoor patio, a firepit with a fire going, and a old Western saloon vibe (fitting since they are across from the train station). Our server was excellent and she brought out our drinks and fresh hot rolls immediately. The food came quickly as well. Our salads were very fresh with large portions and the steaks with loaded baked potatoes were perfect. Can’t wait to return!More

Visited for first time from out of town, walked into the door to the bar and sat down. Ordered a drink and the salmon entree. After 35 minutes and 3/4 done with my entree I was lectured by the hostess that the bar was reserved...and I shouldn’t have been there. “Remember that next time you come in”.
