A local joint with tasty food, including the sides! The pork is pecan-wood smoked, and you add your own sauce. As a result, the meat can be slightly dry, and there are only two choices of bar-b-q sauces. The wait staff seem generally well-trained, and...happier waiting on “the regulars.” Regardless, I would eat there again!More

We had a five hour layover at the airport in Charlotte so we all decided to get some food. This place popped up as a short drive. Glad we went. We started out with twice baked chicken wings - DELICIOUS!! They were meaty and perfectly...cooked. We all shared a Living the Dream sampler platter (BBQ pot roast, chicken, ribs, and pulled pork) with sides of macaroni, pinto beans, collard greens, and French fries. EVERYTHING was delicious. The ribs fell off the bone, the chicken was perfectly cooked, and the pulled pork with some NC vinegar sauce was out of this world good. I loved the pinto beans - good heat and spice after biting in. I’m often underwhelmed by restaurant mac and cheese - this stuff was good! Good fun vibe, service was excellent and quick. I would highly recommend and would definitely return when in Charlotte. Top notch BBQ.More

Great casual place not far from the airport. We really enjoyed the barbeque, wings, and fried squash. Nice craft beer. Good, relaxed atmosphere. We had a wonderful server Aubrey. She was friendly, upbeat and provided excellent menu recommendations and service. Aubrey, you were so right...about the Calypso wing sauce.More

The food was decent, the service was below average and the brinks were horrendous. The first thing I noticed is they do not have brisket in the menu. I have never been to a BBQ place that does not have brisket. They also didn’t have...a “platter” where you could try an small portion if each of their meats. For the service, once we sat down we were pretty much forgotten about and didn’t even get the correct items we had ordered. The drink menu is comical and has no imagination. The old #7 is a Jack and coke; the peanut butter bomb is a shot of peanut butter whiskey, they’ve just given names to basic cocktails and shots and that’s the drink menuMore

Always wanted to try Carolina BBQ "IN" the Carolina's and this was probably as authentic as it gets when you think Saloon! Great beer selection, mostly local with some other domestic and imports. Get the local stuff, it's sooo much better. The BBQ was really...good! I had a tri-tip sandwich and the house mac-n-cheese which is killer! There were plenty of locals there, very lively and loud!More

Stopped in for dinner and to get some NC BBQ. Service was great, very pleasant crew and helpful. The highlights of our meals were the Fried Squash !! Very good and flavorful, the potato salad was not bad, would get again. The fries were flavorless...and right off the Sysco truck. The St. Louis Ribs were good, but not sure I would get again as 1/2 slab is $29, full rack $50, sorry but they are not that good!! I was looking forward to the smoked pot roast, it was dry, tough and hard to chew. Big mistake. If you are in the area give it a try, but stick to the appetizers.More

This Restaurant closed it’s kitchen at 9 pm, one hour earlier that posted outside the front door and advised to me on the telephone prior to arranging a layover in Charlotte. They were not honest. They simply wanted to close and said it’s always been...9 am. Lazy people, low integrity.More

McKoy's does not disappoint. So very glad I took a suggestion from a co-worker to head over to McKoy's. Fantastic Carolina BBQ. Very comfortable saloon type atmosphere. For a party of 2 on a Wednesday night, we were sat quickly. Chris, our waitstaff, was over...promptly and she suggested a few items. We had the buffalo shrimp to start and then a couple of pork platters. Piled high with pork, including collard greens, green beans, fried okra, sautéed mushrooms rounded off the fixins. Everything was fantastic. Definite return if I am in the area.More

Really great place, we tried the sampler and it is probably enough for 3-4 people. I mean, 2 hungry people could finish it, but there is enough for 3-4 avg eaters. Chicken & pork are smoked just right, and the ribs are delicious. Such a...shame that we were just passing through the area, otherwise we'd be back real soonMore

Carolina barbecue is some of the best you will EVER have. McKoy's is at the higher eschelon of Carolina barbecue. I have been to many of the famous spots including Lexington Barbecue and this place is ranked right up there. Plus the owner came over...and greeted me and my peer from work with samples and explanation of his cuisine before we ordered anything. I know this is Carolina barbecue which 99% of the time is pork, BUT I encourage you to try the smoked pot roast; it will change your life!More
