Ordered that big looking plate in the picture the bread is like a sponge but tasty pick the appetizers with ur hands using the sponge breas as we were taught by the owners the way to eat it. also tried the honey wine it was alright. I think the food is a little pricey and some of the dish on the bread are of in can like quality. It was a fun experience though. I am not sure if i am coming back. The service which i believe are the owners were very helpful and friendly.

The wait time is a good 30 minutes after ordering the food. The ambience is nothing extra ordinary and place kinda looks ok with a noisy bar are next door. The food though is delicious. Not my first time with Ethiopian food and this ain't the best but is a nice experience. The chicken items are specifically good as compared to the veggies platter. The Injera is good and prices ain't too much. Can come back once in a while for the chicken platter.

I really enjoy ethnic foods, and Ethiopian is definitely one of my favorites. I was very excited to try this spot out here in Charlotte, and see if they lived up to all of the other locations that served delicious Ethiopian. I was a bit disappointed because the flavors I'm used to tasting along with the many spices wasn't all there. The injera bread didn't taste as good as I've had in the past; not to mention, the food was a bit pricey. The service was a bit mediocre, but overall, it wasn't bad. Not sure if I want to go back and give it another try because I believe I have one other option in the area. If you're trying Ethiopian food for the 1st time, this is not the place I would recommend.

Excellent cuisine. Queen of Sheba is a gem of Central Ave. Come hungry. If you’re with a group, try on of the combo meals. We also tried the beef Sambosas for appetizers. Tasty.

The restaurant was closed when we visited even though per their website it was supposed to be open. No one bothered to answer the phones either. Location wise in a strip mall in a questionable area.

We ate here for lunch. We ordered the avocado salad for a appetizer. It was large portion for two people to share. One person could have it as there meal. We also ordered the vegetable platter. The e food was delicious. Portions were a nice size. Go during the day. Not at night.

Queen Sheba offers Ethiopian cuisine. Keep reading. These meals are different and delicious. If you are meat eaters, there is much to choose. If you are vegetarian, there is much to choose. Queen Sheba accommodates all. The meals are served on a large platter with a spongy bread that is used to pick up the food by each diner. After a couple of bites, you will become accustomed to this way of eating. Try it. Tip: For more fun, order the coffee ceremony. Then, sit on "drums" and watch the coffee beans roasted over an open fire; watch the grinding and brewing; watch the pouring; then, of course enjoy the coffee. It is strong; however, cream and sugar are available.

As previous reviews said, the restaurant is hidden on a strip mall among Latino shops, on a not very nice area of town - however one can argue that this adds to the whole experience as usually these are the most authentic places you can find. So yes, if you're adventurous enough to go off the beaten path, you are in for a treat with this restaurant. The food is great, combo portions are enough for 3. We also ordered sambosas, which is somewhat of a cross between a samosa and an Arabic esfiha. The prices are reasonable, not cheap but not expensive either. One warning, though, the kids selection is limited to none, so unless your children are also willing to try different flavors, you better leave them at home with a babysitter.

Three of us went here for an Ethiopian experience and we were not disappointed. The food was very good and the service was friendly. The food - for the 3 of us we ordered a combo plate that had chicken, lamb, some beans and other veggies. The server said it would be enough for the 3 of us but when it arrived it was clearly not enough. Only 1 leg of chicken, and one or two pieces of lamb. This quickly prompted us to order the meat combo in addition. Now THAT had enough food for 3 people, so we brought a good bit home as leftovers. The price - the first combo was in the $20-ish range which is reasonable. But the second combo was in the mid-$40 range. That seemed excessive, as before tip the bill was in the $90s for 3 of us. The atmosphere - decent...seemed authentic. There is a hookah bar in one corner that was entertaining what appeared to be a couple on their first date. Bold choice, my friend! The restaurant was pretty brightly lit, so not really a dinner ambience, but not a big deal. Also, it wasn't very busy. More continued below... The location - it's in a shadier part of town, down Central blvd. It is adjacent to a Latin bar, and sometime around 8pm the beats started pumping. Through the wall. Into the back of our booth chair. Loudly. But this was kind of fun (and it was Friday night)...definitely added to the experience. Add in the African-American opera on the TV in the restaurant and it made for a very interesting/cultural experience. Bottom-line: the food is definitely worth it. Keep an eye on the prices. Arrive prior to the bar next door starting up. You'll leave happy.

We lived in Ethiopia for two years and absolutely love Ethiopian food! This is a very good restaurant and it was very authentic. We took our family here numerous times and its one of the "must go back to" restaurants when we return back to the States!

My husband and I were visiting some friends, and they had a Groupon for Queen Sheba. I had never eaten Ethiopian food before and was not entirely sure what to expect. My husband and I both enjoy coffee, so we each ordered an Ethiopian coffee with our meal. It came in tiny cups and was STRONG! We liked it, and if we had not been so tired from a long day of traveling, we probably would have been up all night! The four of us split one of the large combo platters that had beef, chicken, and lamb served on top of injera and with additional injera. The injera was spongy and sour, but I liked tearing off pieces of it and using it to scoop up the different meats and sauces. Some of the sauces were spicy, but not overly so, in my opinion. However, I enjoy spicy foods, so I am slightly biased in that way. The server was attentive, but not intrusive. At no point during the meal did we feel rushed, and our server brought us more injera on request when we ran out. What I liked best about the meal was how close it brought our group during the meal. No one could really have their phones out, because we needed our hands for eating. Normally, the idea of four people sharing one plate would seem absurd and unpleasant to me, but in Queen Sheba it just felt like a bonding experience! The restaurant was small, but quiet. There was a hookah lounge attached, but we only really noticed it when the disco ball started up. If you want to spark conversation and have a meal with people who are not nose deep in their cell phones, this restaurant is perfect for a party of four to peacefully chat and laugh and eat from the same giant platter!

I've read several reviews of how horrible the service was here so I purposely went in late afternoon to use an expiring Groupon. My family went and had a wonderful experience, We enjoyed the avocado salad as an appetizer and then had the veggie plate and then a chicken and beef entree. All were new to use but very tasty .

I’ve seen mixed reviews from users. This was far from my first time visit to an Ethiopian restaurant, but is definitely the worth one. I used to enjoy Ethiopian food and this visit changed it. Food was terrible, meat was hard and many items were out as I was told due to high response to Groupon. Waitress spoke no English. If you go out for good food and nice atmosphere I would suggest an Ethiopian restaurant downtown.

If ever you get a hankering for east African cuisine while in Charlotte, NC, please be sure to check out Queen Sheba Bar and Restaurant. Dishes are vibrant and fresh and each is prepared to order, so sit tight. Enjera is made in-house daily and is light and airy while the lentils and vegetables are savory and perfectly seasoned. And as Charlotte is warming up to this cuisine, it is likely you'll be seated straight away (a plus in our book!). There are a few other Ethiopian restaurant choices in Charlotte, but this one we've found to be superior. It's connected to a hookah lounge, if you're interested, and hosts a traditional coffee ceremony on Sundays. Service is warm and attentive, with the owner on-hand to personally see that everything is to your satisfaction. Queen Sheba is nestled in what is one of Charlotte's multicultural neighborhoods on Central Avenue, a hub for diversity and authenticity.
