Great food at a great price.

Always great food at a great price. My wife and I eat here once a week. My favorite chicken wings around! She loves Orange Shrimp and loves their fried rice.

The food and service are really good at Taipei South. Typical American Chinese fare, done well and at a very fair price. Something for everyone. We will be back....often

Good food and great value. We've introduced several of our friends to Taipei South, and all have returned on their own, Dinners are consistently good and are large enough to share. Whether take-out or dine-in, it's a favorite.

NASTY FOOD AND NASTY SERVICE

My husband and I tried this place on recommendation from a friend. BIG MISTAKE. I ordered Crab Rangoon… very bland, no flavor. My entree was Sesame Chicken with fried rice and a spring roll. I took two bites of rice - again ZERO flavor! My chicken was bathing in what tasted like Barbecue sauce— yuck and to top it off the chicken was fried so hard it could break a molar! Needless to say, didn’t eat that crap either! The waitress once advised of my dislike never offered to replace or comp any part of it or anything! Poor food, poor service.. will never go back and do not recommend at all. Of note, there was a lady sitting in the booth behind me that had ordered Lo Mein and it had plastic in it. She told the server and the server told the cook and all he could say was “ sorry it won’t happen tomorrow”! RIDICULOUS!!!

Complete 180 in the wrong direction

So prior to Covid shut downs this place rocked you like a spring roll and we loved it. We patiently waited for the Covid mess to lift and indoor dining to become available again before we revisited. So excited to get our favorite Chinese food but such a let down. Service was great as normal, it was just something had changed with the food. The flavors just weren't there, just bland and no longer desirable. Plus my wife was sick most of the night. It just changed somehow and no longer is at the top of our list.

Friends and I have eaten here a lot. The food is not bad. Some of the servers are a little strange . I wanted to order take out but they would not answer the phone.

This is a fantastic place for lunch or dinner. Very tasty dishes. The prices are super reasonable. The very kind staff will take great care of you . The place sends out your order super quick for the lunch crowd. I really was surprised how delicious my meal was . I give this place a two thumbs up 👍👍 I plan on a return visit real soon .

Great food served fast.

Met my friend for lunch. We had a great experience. Hot soup egg drop wonton combination was delicious. Scallops were good but I will order a different sauce next time. Fried Rice was delicious and plentiful. The staff could not be any nicer. Can’t wait for my next visit. My friend had the chicken dish and enjoyed his.

I had visited this restaurant several times in the last 8 years. all the time. Their food is very good. If you are vegetarian and want a different Chinese taste that usual chinese taste, this is the restaurant I will recommend for you. It is not very expensive either. If you are not the big eater, one plate can suffice for two people, only cost you $ 7.Their service is fast. Not a very long waiting.

Very tasty Chinese food

Having traveled to China, and having lived in the NY area, I’m just a bit picky about Chinese food. While Taipei South is no China, and is not quite Chinatown in New York, it is among the best I’ve found in Charlotte. While there are a couple of other respectable places, this is pretty good. Additionally, the service is great and the prices are low. Design wise, the place is pretty basic, but who cares? It’s all about the food.

Great Takeout

I just got takeout for the very first time. The soups were excellent as well as the fried rice with mixed vegetables. Plenty of quantity and good quality. The restaurant dining room was packed. I will return soon to order a larger variety.

Excellent Food, Good Value!

We were visiting out of town and decided to do take-out for lunch. Oh my goodness it was good! They gave you plenty to eat and we even had leftovers. It was delicious.

Excellent Lunch at Great Price!

We had lunch here for the first time today. We both had General Chicken with fried rice and a spring roll. The sauce on the chicken was delicious. The spring roll appeared homemade. The hot mustard is pungent and a little goes a long way. There was duck sauce on the table. I don't typically eat duck sauce, but it was delicious. Server was attentive and friendly. We were not charged for iced tea and they left a carafe on the table as well. We will definitely return. The lunch was $15.50 for both of us before tax. Service was fast.

Quick, good value for money! Clean, and updated.

My husband and I used to eat here 2-3 times a week. We moved to SC a couple of years ago, and had not been back until last evening. We arrived at 5:45pm. We were seated right away. The interior has been updated a bit, nicely. We ordered the and had our drinks within 5 minutes. Our food arrived within another 5 minutes. Husband had Hot n’ Sour Soup, Chicken with Sa Cha sauce, fried rice and egg roll. I had Egg Drop Soup, Broccoli with Garlic Sauce, spring roll and white rice. We both had “sweet tea”, which is a bit too sweet for our taste. We will order 1/2 n’ 1/2 next time. All of our food was hot, plentiful and good. The sweet sauce is on the table, and we asked for hot mustard sauce and it arrived quickly. Our total was $28.00 including a generous tip. Not bad, Huh?

Very Disappointed

My husband and I stopped for lunch one day last week and were very disappointed. We have been going to this restaurant for at least 20 years and have always loved it. We moved out of town and had to return to Charlotte for a doctor's appointment and thought it would be nice to eat lunch before returning home. When we arrived we were seated and told they would be closing in 10 minutes. We asked why and they said because we close for 2 hours (from 3-5) to clean. The waiter was very short with us. We did not know until we asked a waitress if we had enough time to eat and she said we had plenty of time and no rush. So the food came out (not as much as you used to get) still very tasty though. We had just started to eat and the waitress started vacuuming with a very loud vacuum and we wondered why they could not wait until we finished eating. They actually were vacuuming all around our table. Then she quit and he started right up against our table. They came over before we were half way through eating and insisted that we pay then and would not wait until we finished. Then when we finished we had not even laid our forks down and he about ran over to get our plates. We felt very rushed the whole time we were there. The person in charge, came over and said she had to turn off the music????? before we got thru eating. To top if off, when we got up to leave, the waiter yelled at my husband across the room and asked him if he was going to leave him a tip. My said husband said no, not this time and we left. Worst dining experience we have ever had. Will never go back.
