We visited some dear friends in Charlotte, North Carolina for dinner. What a wonderful dining experience. Our hostess, Briona was very pleasant. She did not play the “Let’s see if we have tables” game. Our waiter, Mario was exceptional! He was attentive throughout the entire...meal and he did not lose interest in our party when we did not order drinks. I had the ten ounce Filet Mignon perfectly cooked. My wife had the baked chicken on a bed of risotto. My dear friend from internship had the Filet as well. Her husband had the grilled Chilean Sea Bass. Asparagus and mashed potatoes rounded out the meal. I highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or any occasion. You will not be disappointed!More

My date and I visited the restaurant on 3/19/2021. Management, lobby staff and our waiter, David Crosby, were nothing shy of amazing. We were seated early, which was a plus, and from there it just got better. Our aforementioned waiter took the time to explain...any areas of the menu that we had questions about and made some excellent recommendations. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, and were served in a very reasonable amount of time. The side items, as well as desert, were impeccable. They even went as far as to seat us in my favorite location of the restaurant which i thought was extremely thoughtful. My hat goes off to the management staff for a job well done.More

David provided my wife and I excellent service and experience at the consistently well renowned capital Grille. We also enjoy a cocktail at one of Charlotte's finest establishments. Eating at the bar is pleasant also. David had as much personality as his expertise behind the...bar and we had a lovely Saturday evening downtown CLT. Thank you Capital Grille for your consistency.More

My husband and I ordered the seafood tower, the presentation was great, but tasted awful. The shrimp/oysters were dry, chewy, fishy with no flavor. Also, the bread was hard, and the butter was so cold and hard that you couldn't spread the butter on the...bread. The Steak had too much vinegar sauce, it completely ruined the steak. The warm chocolate cake was cold, dry and the 'warm" chocolate inside was cold, thick and not eatable. Service was slow, bathroom was dirty. The drinks were good. Just eat somewhere else.More

This will be long. Let me start by saying we love the Capital Grille. However, this night was hit and miss. Had a reservation. We were excited as it was my husbands birthday after his return to Charlotte from being overseas for two years. (Party...of 3) We were seated promptly. they had sprinkled some cute little birthday decorations on the table. The hostess told us the names of our 2 servers. After a bit, one of them came to greet us and ask who’s birthday. In a bit, water was brought to each of us. From here on, things went downhill. We looked over the tablet drink menu. Some more time went by. And our drink order was taken. The drinks did not come out together, there was probably a 5 minute lag between each. We were asked if we were ready to order. We did. Then we heard the closest table, different server, explaining the specials. We never got that. After awhile, the first course came out for 2 of us. The other person got theirs about 5 minutes later. The salads were nice, basic. The soup was good and the shrimp cocktail was good. No bread was ever offered, so we asked for it. It was brought about half way through first course. When we were done with that 1st course, we sat for about 10 minutes. We finally put all the salad plates, soup bowl, dressing vessel, at the edge of the table, no one picked them up until our next course came, then they wanted to pick up our bread (still about half a basket) and bread plates. In unison, we all said, wait, we will keep our bread for the next course. The 2 steaks were supposed to be the extra spicy crust. It was not. The steaks were cooked to order but were not very satisfying. Very bland/mediocre. Very disappointed as two weeks prior our adult daughter had the same steak and it was wonderful. She was the most disappointed. After that course was finished, we again sat and sat with no plates removed. Moved them to the edge again. We had to ask for water refills. Waited. Then a special long birthday plate was brought out. It had the Happy Birthday spelled out in chocolate and a personal sized round chocolate cake on one end and the cheesecake on the other. There was enough for each of us to have a bite. This was a nice treat and very much appreciated. Our main course plates were removed when the birthday treat was put down. This ended our food portion of the evening. We had dressed in “nice” clothes for a nice restaurant. The table closest to us had guests in sweat suits, and a small child climbing around on the chairs until their food came. Ok, that’s ok, they weren’t noisy. The table behind us, up one level, probably table of 8. They were very noisy the entire meal, including a baby crying and they stayed at the table. The other child was probably toddler age and was very loud. Child or adult, not sure, was listening to something on an iPhone or tablet. This was just not the usual dining experience at a Capital Grille. We were extremely disappointed. And, we never saw or had a second server, but I don’t think it would have mattered. To sum up, the soup was good, the salad was huge, but only lettuce and a little bit of tomato. Dressing was good. The shrimp cocktail was good. The steaks, not so much. The dessert was special and a nice treat. Cocktails were ok. Wine was fair. Service was the low point. When we left and were on the sidewalk, we all tried to figure this evening out. But couldn’t come to a conclusion. The restaurant wasn’t full, even with COVID spacing. We just moved on.More

Anniversary meal on Saturday night. Lump crab cocktail appetizers, 22oz bone in ribeye, tenderloin with 2 butter poached lobster tails, mashed potatoes and truffle fries. Complimentary dessert with duo of cheesecake and chocolate cake. EVERYTHING was outstanding! Shawn, our waiter, was amazing and handled our...every need with ease. He never let our glasses get less than half empty. We will request him next time we go. Can’t wait!More

We recently dined at the Charlotte Capital Grille and had some excitement for the evening because of limited nights out due to Covid. Sadly, we did not have the experience of past dinners at what has historically been a great Charlotte steak house, nor did...it compare to other Capital Grilles around the country. I always enjoy the experience of a fine steakhouse as much as the food and that element seemed to have been missing. We were requested to bring some toys to donate for Christmas, which we did. You would think that would start things off with a festive mood but when we presented them, it sort of fell flat at the hostess desk. A senior member of the restaurant was present at the desk at the time and I couldn't get a smile or "welcome " from him. Talk about starting the evening off poorly. I have no complaints about the food but when you dine at a Capital Grill, the food is going to be consistent from Naples to New York. My steak was cooked as I like it but it did not blow me away, but that sometimes happens. I blame the cow and not the restaurant in those cases. If you are a wine connoisseur, I would definitely steer towards another more friendly wine establishment with better corkage policies. The wine list has good young wines at reasonable prices but is very shallow with anything over 5 years of age. Champagne is almost all non-vintage. For aged wines, you have to bring your own and Capital Grille restricts you from bringing in more than two bottles. Del Friscos is very good but Ruths Chris probably has the best wine list at the best prices. They also have a MUCH better corkage policy than any other steak establishment. Sadly, I do not think Charlotte's Capital Grille will be my choice the next time I want an upscale steakhouse experience. You will get a great steak cooked to order but you won't get the experience. Maybe they have become too corporate and are unable to adjust to the changing market conditions and experiences. Maybe it is their local owner or manager but the entire experience seemed to lack energy. Charlotte has many great steakhouses starting with Beef and Bottle and going up to Ruths Chris and Del Friscos. Steak 48 will be opening next spring and they may set the new standard. Capital Grille Charlotte needs to to step up its game or they will loose big to their competitors.More

Took my wife for a date night awhile back here. Very good. I got the porterhouse and it was cooked perfectly. Katie took very good care of us and made sure everything was to our satisfaction.

The restaurant only seats to 50 percent capacity because of the coronavirus. I ordered two South African lobster tails, each weighing about five ounces I would guess. They were delicious. I didn't have any side orders with them as I was saving room for dessert....I had some of their homemade cheesecake, which was also delicious. I was so stuffed when I left. Sigh.More

I am not sure about a private room, however I have been there with 2 and with 20, and the service and meal was great every time. Your guests will enjoy the experience. And will talk about it for a long time.

The Capital Grille in Charlotte is my favorite spot. I know most of the staff and met some of the people who were training to work in Raleigh. Charlotte is A #1 and I'm sure with time Raleigh will be great too.
