This was an absolutely positive lunch experience. Our circumstances today required our family (who live in SC) to meet two distant family members from TX and CO at the airport, find a place to eat lunch, and get three of us on a flight back...to TX all within the space of several hours. None of us are really familiar with restaurants in Charlotte, so we checked out restaurants on Tripadvisor. We thought Nana Morrison's Soul Food looked like a place that would please everyone in our diverse group, so we gave it a try. To sum up: Delicious food, and plenty of it; nice, clean, modern-looking dining room; warm, friendly service from all the staff; close to the airport. It was truly perfect for what we needed. We could not be more pleased nor could we recommend a place more highly.More

Over Priced Cafeteria Food

I tried this place for the first time today after reading a New's story about the family that own's this restaurant. I was very excited to see what all the rave was about. Walking in the restaurant was very clean. My friend and I had...to tell the staff it was our first time. The young lady was very helpful. The rest of the staff looked like they didn't want to be there. As far as the food I opted for the 1 meat 2 veg plate for $14.99 The baked chicken was very juicy but very plane flavor. The mashed potatoes were the thick dry instant kind, the mac and cheese was prob the best part of the meal. The portions were very small, small icecream type scoop sizes. When I got to the checkout I decided to try the banana pudding, for the small cup it was $5.99. It was good. All in all for 1 meat 2 small sides and a small banana pudding to be a little over $24 dollars is outrageous.More

Not good food

I have been wanting to eat here for awhile and I am very disappointed with my meal. I had the fried chicken, and 2 sides. A positive I will say is that the chicken was tasty. The mashed potatoes were clearly instant flakes. The cornbread...roll was mushy and cold. The cucumber salad was okay but it was a very small portion. The portions in general were very small compared to the pictures on the website. This is not real soul food like I have had at other places. It is very overpriced. My go to for a homestyle meal without cooking.

My first experience was pre- pandemic. Family said let's make this quick stop before heading home. Well...once home and I started eating, I was speechless. Soul food, Nana style!!! Charlotte, NC (The Queen)

You can feel how the chef took so much care in preparing and putting together the dish that I ordered. So delicious, juicy (bbq chicken), sauce was amazing. Use it to drizzle over my potato salad, which btw is just right seasoning. The collard greens...reminds me of the one I used to get from Augusta, Georgia. Being back great memories. And the FRIED CHICKEN! OMG, juicy and crispy at the same time. I'm so glad I was able to stumble upon this gem. Found Nana’s place when I was checking the places to eat around my hotel. And im Glad I did. It came with cornbread and I got double chocolate dessert and sweet tea! Will definitely recommend this to my friends.More

Outstanding buffet style soul food

The young lady in line next to be best summed it up as she jumped up and down and squealed “I want it all”. Sides are amazing, best black eyed peas EVER, and the desserts are to die for, unbelievable banana pudding. Just not that good. Find another restaurant .

Really wanted to enjoy some good soul food. Fried chicken must have sat for hours. It was essentially chicken jerky. I can eat anything but left most of this in my styrofoam container. Great tea. Sides were okay but lackluster. Cannot recommend .More

The food was AWESOME!

Amazing G...!

The food made me want to sing. I had the smothered pork chop, ribs, and the meatball with gravy, and they even added some soul to the meatballs. The food is great it tastes Southern and it is Southern! Every time i went the servers...were great the service great, quick reliable hot food. Before you spend all that money on a dry burger or chicken samwich! Get yourself some real soul in your Food! (don't sleep on the extra sides get a vege plate its cheaper than getting extra sides separately.. mac an cheese next day Yum!)More

Great eats!

We were staying in a hotel nearby and found this restaurant through TripAdvisor. What a wonderful surprise. It’s location in a strip mall put us off a little at first but once we got inside it was clean the service was friendly and wonderful and...the food was way beyond our expectations. The fried chicken, the curry chicken, and the collard greens were amazing. Would definitely return at any opportunity.More

This is some of the best soul food!

We had an overnight stay in Charlotte and found this restaurant. The food was so good, we returned the next day to pick up meals to take with us on the next leg of our vacation. Definitely would recommend the catfish, greens and black eyed...peas.More

Great catfish and sides

I was traveling through Charlotte, staying near the airport, and I'm very glad I found Nana's. I was in the mood for meatloaf, but I learned that is only available on Wednesday, so I ordered the fried catfish. I find catfish is either really good...or really not. There is no middle ground. This catfish was really good. I'm not a huge fan of macaroni and cheese but the reviews suggested it was top-notch. It was very good as was the perfectly seasoned stuffing. If I find myself back this way again, I'll be sure to visit Nana's.More

Delicious

This is my second order from Nana Morrison and both orders were delicious. 1st order chicken wings candied yams and greens. Chicken was moist everything great. 2nd order smothered chicken. OMG so good. Greens yams Mac and cheese. Tastes like I cooked this meal myself....You have to try this restaurant you won’t be disappointed.More

Moist and OH SO LOVELY SEASONED

One thing about me, I love well seasoned food. So i was pleased with Nana's food. i really am not a pork eater but the smothered pork looked amazing not only that but it was delicious!!!!!
