Dined here on a recent Saturday night. Reservations were neccessary, the place was packed. Not a big menu here but definitely some great choices, along with a few unexpected specials. We loved everything we ordered, the food was fantastic!! I would have easily rated 5...stars if not for one negative: our seating. We were seated in an upstairs section that is directly adjacent to the neighboring hotel's convention area. There was a loud wedding that night that made conversation at our table very difficult. We asked to be moved but after being informed that it would be a while, we opted to put up with the noise. Back to the food. For apps, we tried the meatballs (great red sauce), the burrata (creamy) and the kale salad (very fresh and well dressed). For mains, we went with the short ribs (the star of the night) and the bianco pizza (really tasty). Another taste treat was the chocolate cassata cake dessert. Our server was excellent throughout the meal. We will return, but insist on downstairs seating....More

This is more of a wine bar with accompanying food than a grill/restaurant per se, but the food offerings were well executed. A few more vegetarian choices would be nice, especially given a “no substitutions” policy that hearkens back to the Stone Age. 🍝 Still,...our dishes were lovely, service was good, and the ambience was elegant and comfortable. The white bean accompaniment to the table bread was a flavorful highlight.More

We arrived early for a very special anniversary dinner. We first went to Cicchetti’s for a pre-dinner cocktail where we were served amazing negronis. Then we headed over to Aria for dinner, which is very convenient. Aria has a nice atmosphere, is lively, and clearly...a popular place. Our server was not attentive. The food and drinks were good. The Marsala Braised Veal Short Rib dish was delicious.More

Great and Classy atmosphere. Excellent service and prompt as required. One of the best Lasagna dishes I have ever had. In town for the weekend and can't wait to return. Thanks again...

Right across the street from the Omni where we stayed. Sat at the bar because you really need reservations but it was great as you can meet people at the bar. I think it was the best meal I ever had at a restaurant. Everyone...loved their food. Was sad they don’t open on Sunday because I wanted to eat there again. A little pricey but worth every penny. The bar tender was fantastic also. If you visit Charlotte don’t pass up the Aria restaurant.More

This was one of many trips to Aria my wife and I have made. We stopped in for a drink and appetizers before a show and greatly surprised to see the menu was now much more limited as were the "Bar Bites". We chose 4...bar bits. Arancini, Ribs, Pizza Rossa, and Fontina dip. The first was the pizza.... average at best and closer to chucky cheese, than Tuscany. Arancini were bland but the olive tamponade was so powerful it overwhelmed any subtleties of the rice ball. Fontina cheese dip while tasty was congealed and garlicy. Not really a "dip" for bread. Lastly, the ribs with fennel dust were likely the best prepared out of the bunch, although not outstanding. Overall, the quality has dropped dramatically.More

Excellent food and courteous wait staff. My only criticism was the noise. The place was packed and very loud. We will return often. Make reservations well ahead of time.

As I had tickets to the theater, I wanted to get dinner nearby, and Italian seemed to be a good idea - so I made reservations here. THEN I looked at trip advisor and saw that recent reviews were not-so-great...and I almost cancelled the reservations....I just never got around to it...and that's a good thing. I'm not sure why people complained about portion sizes! I got a kale caesar salad which was GIANT....and then a wonderful mushroom pasta that was the perfect size. No room for dessert! And service? We were never needing anything; our server was very attentive. Absolutely no complaints. Family shared the meatball appetizer, and that was delicious! So...not one of the top ten restaurants of my life, but listen, I'd say that's one of the top ten in Charlotte and I'll come back!More

We have always loved this place - their gnocchi with cream sauce was a particular favorite.. we swung in for a few bites and probably won't be back. The gnoochi is different and when I tell you the serving size was TINY - that is...not an an understatement. It was nver particular large which is perfect but to sell it as an app and over all over ten pieces is shameful. And the taste was way off, super salty this time and just tasteless. We also ordered burrata and it came out on a plate of oil with NOTHING - literally a blob on a plate. We also ordered the kale salad and it was nothing special either. The drinks were fire THANKFUL. But for what they charged and for how underwhelmed it was - I would pass. 3/10 - wouldn't both anymore.More

We went October 2022 about 8pm. Four people for drinks and snacks. Ordered an arugula salad for $12, the amount on the small salad plate was minuscule. The seafood misto plate tasted chalky and bland, fried calamari, shrimp and clams. All tasted like it just...came out of the freezer, breading was gummy and tasteless. A bar bites plate of some fried rice balls with olive tapenade was also gummy and tasteless. The food was very mediocre and the prices very high. Also a $44 bottle of Prosecco was warm and not very good. Will not return.More

Not a bad Italian restaurant, but I can think of three better ones in Charlotte. Our appetizer was very good, the entrees and cocktails were good but not great. Nice atmosphere and big wine list. I probably would have given 4 stars had it not...been for our server. His schtick was over the top, but one exchange was out of line to me. We both ordered cocktails to start. Later he asked us if we wanted another drink, my wife ordered a glass of wine. I said I'm driving so no thank you. He literally rolled his eyes at me, and said 'I can call Uber to get you home.' Seriously? I wouldn't want an Uber from Uptown to Davidson anyway...no bueno.More

The service, atmosphere, and food were all amazing! We traveled to Charlotte with a group of 11 for a work conference, and we are dinner at Aria on the last night. We were not disappointed! From the time we arrived, the service was commendable. They...sat us close right by the kitchen window and we had a front-row seat to the action! We will definitely return if we are ever in the area again!More

Easy walk to/from Belk Theatre. Taylor easily heard over the packed restaurant and efficiently managed his area. Started with the bread and white beans. Hint, mash them, drizzle with evoo and smear creamy consistency over fresh hot baked bread. Shared the fritos misti, don't let...the 2 fried oysters dissuade you from the tempura dredged calamari and shrimp. The fusilli poached lobster dish was a light tomato sauce and check out the surprise under the heaping offering. Have the fruit crostata/tart. It's the Grand Finale. An accompanying cup of hot freshly brewed black coffee finishes. Trevor, the floor manager stopped by the table and helps staff in the full restaurant. Always a nice touch. Don't forget to say hello to Sophia Loren. Bellissimo, Mange !More

We were visiting again our last visit in 2018, remembering the wonderful atmosphere, service and food. Once again, were were elated with the atmosphere, service and dinner choices. The waiter's recommendations were very helpful. The pizza margarita was incredible as always, Carbonara was top notch....The fillet and potato medallions terrific. Most of the other restaurants in Charlotte cannot even come close. We will be back next time we are in town for sure.More

I know there is an upstairs area that is much quieter. We’ve dined upstairs a few times.

I believe the answer is yes. I was there on a weekday night as part of a large group. Sometimes, being part of a large group gives you a different experience (it cuts both ways). Go and enjoy yourself.
