Exceptional food. I highly recommend the fried ravioli and eggplant parmigiana. Service was friendly and enemy though they were busy, we never felt rushed or ignored. Jim made sure we got a seat that evening with wonderful follow up after a call asking for help...when resy was unavailable. I can’t say enough good things about that evening. We will be back.More

Came here on a busy Friday night and was seated after about 15 minutes. Atmosphere was warm and cozy. Service was great and our waitress was very friendly. The food was delicious. The pastas and pizza were fantastic. Dishes are very reasonably priced.

Charlotte's version of the Cheers bar of TV fame - densely populated by regulars well known by the wait staff and management - can almost make you feel like an "alien." But you'll be accepted into the "Zio Club" with your first drink order. To...be clear this is not fine dining, the main dishes, such as salmon, are OK, but not great. However, their pizza is exceptional - crispy crust, generous toppings, and rich flavors. Portions are generous, and the pricing is good. With the expansive selection of new, trendy restaurants, it's nice to find a comfortable eatery where service is friendly, food is good, and conversation is lively (and there is live music on several nights each week).More

We had a birthday celebration at Zio for 11 people. They were not prepared for that many people, and crushed us into a table for 8, max. So, we started off uncomfortably. Our waiter was ok, and was willing to make separate checks for each...couple. One person in our party was served 10 min after everyone else. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. I’d never take a group there again, but might go back once more to give it another shot.More

We are new to Charlotte so we decided to try a neighborhood eatery. We've been trying a lot of places, Zio makes our first "go to". Casual atmosphere, small and well presented menu. The food was really delicious. Next time, we will try the Pizza....Looking at other tables, it looked really good, Menu is limited, simple Italian. My snapper picatta was fresh, tasty and well presented. All the pasta is homemade, Service is good, and although popular, sitting was comfortable and not crowded. Nice bar too to enjoy a glass of vino before being seated.More

Tried this for the first time a few weeks ago & really enjoyed it. Plenty of vegetarian options & local beer selections. Prices were very reasonable, portions were good & everything was very good. Nice atmosphere & some onsite parking. Will definitely go back.

We eat here often, have done so for years, and are never disappointed! It really is a great, casual Italian place with delicious food and good service and pricing. We seldom order outside of our favorites, the Salmon Picatta, Naples Pizza and Arugula Salad. I...recently had the Ravioli appetizer and loved it. And they grow their own greens! We go here as a couple, with family and also with friends. It’s located in what was “Five Steps Down” many years ago, and we always, always enjoy it! (May have to call in for take out tonight!)More

That it took me so long to discover this place! We went with a fairly large group for my wife's birthday based on stumbling across Zio online and getting a few endorsements from friends. Everything was fantastic! The food is fresh, the serving sizes are...generous, and the atmosphere is perfectly casual. Our service was perfect as well, we never had empty glasses and the food was all brought out hot and promptly. This will be our new go-to Italian restaurant in Charlotte. At the price point, you're crazy if you don't give them a try.More

My wife and I live in Charlotte and happen to find ourselves at Zio's before an event we were attending. Zio's is in the Myers Park area which is a really nice area of town but the beauty of this restaurant is that it is...not pretentious. It is down a side street by a block and works as a neighborhood restaurant. The prices are very reasonable for that area. Even our glass wine felt like a generous pour for the cost (eg. $7.5 for red). We got the Margarita pizza. In general, I like that pizza just ok but once both of us took a bite our eyes lit up and we went "wow." If the Margarita pizza were that good all the time I would fall in love with it. We ate way more than we usually eat because it was so good. Just based on our one experience there we are thinking of ways we can go back again. Very quaint, casual, and friendly place with noticeably authentic tasting Italian food. Worth a visit if you like the local hole in the wall that brings good food to the table.More

Have eaten at Zio for several years and have always had a good dining experience. They ususally offer one or two gluten free options for my wife and the cost for the value, along with the down home ambience makes it one of our favorites....They also offer take out service on any menu item. Their grilled pizza is amazing - never had anything like it before - especially their suite pepper and sausage grilled pie!More

This is a high-level recap of my visit an incredibly awful dining experience at Zio this evening. We were greeted by a server who stated her name was Pippi, (or something that sounded like this) who took our drink order. The drinks were delivered along...with cold, dry, day-old bread. My guest and I both ordered appetizers, salads, and entrees. My appetizer and our salads were literally tossed on the table and the server took off before we could get her attention long enough to tell her one appetizer was missing. I flagged down the server as she raced by and mentioned the missing appetizer. Approximately 15 minutes later, the meatball appetizer was delivered with un-melted cheese cubes on top of the meatballs. Once again, we had to flag the down as she raced by to have the meatballs heated. It was obvious to anyone that can see that this had not even been heated at all. I then, asked the server to make sure that our entrees were not delivered right on top of the appetizers and salads….they should have been delivered in the proper sequence in a timely manner. She responded with a surly attitude and we then waited 30 minutes before she came back ad rudely said “can I put your order in now”? When the entrees arrived- the Eggplant Parmigiana was cold and the pasta was missing the Alfredo sauce. The entrée was sent back as well. At this point, the server should have consulted with the Manager to let her know that she had upset customers. She did not. The entire fiasco with this meal was NEVER mentioned to anyone. The Manager- which I will assume is Jessica ( her name is on the check, and she ended up correcting the bill) came over an apologized about the sauce- not mentioning another word about the highly unsatisfactory food and service we had received up to this point. The server was obviously avoiding coming over to the table, and we received NO SERVICE AT ALL! The entrée was delivered again with sauce, but still cold and had to be sent back again. After finishing this awful dining experience, we waited another 25 minutes for a check. When the check arrived, I was charged extra for blue cheese dressing (I had Italian) and asked that she correct. Not the money, but now the principle. At this point the “Manager” returned and I proceeded to tell her about our dining experience. She apologized and validated that she knew NOTHING about the issues we had with the food and the service. Not only was this entire meal and very poor service unacceptable, the staff including the Manager was apathetic about the entire experience, as if it happens all of the time. No concern whatsoever that this would be the first and last visit to Zio’s. So, in a nut-shell, we received stale, cold food accompanied by the lousiest service I have had in all of my travels and dining experience in Charlotte. This one is a definite NO-GO.More
