Food is good but not great! I have been consistently disappointed a little

We live near the Big View Diner and have tried it on a handful of occasions. The most recent was with friends. Our meals were good but average for a diner. The desserts look great but everytime I get one the cakes are a bit dry and find myself disappointed, as they don't live up to the look. Overall we don't frequent the diner but if someone wants to go we don't shy away from either.

Elevated Diner Cuisine

I'm choosing to review my 2nd experience here because it was much better than the first. First of all, I recommend avoiding Friday nights and weekends if you don't like waiting for a good while. We came for lunch. There was no wait and many empty tables. I had the chopped steak with sweet potato mash and grilled vegetables. It was divine and the flavors were on point. The visit before I tried the turtle cheesecake, which was delicious. I also recommend sitting outside on the patio. The inside decor is just okay and a little drab.

None of us were able to finish our meals. Portion size was great! Mashed sweet potatoes were heavenly to my taste buds. I could have made a meal out of just them. Clean environment. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Huge menu with many varieties. Was a little pricey at $85 for 4 meals and 1 cup of coffee.

Disappointing

We’ve been coming to the Big View a few times a year for the past several years. It’s been a while since we’ve eaten there, so we decided to go early on Mother’s Day. We didn’t wait long to be seated, but were put in the absolute worst location in the restaurant - a corner table in the back of the bar area next to the door leading to the patio. Every time the door opened (I’d estimate close to 60 times while we were there), everything blew around and off the table with a giant gust of very chilly wind. We finally gave up trying to secure the napkins, etc. and just let them go. We waited a considerable time to be acknowledged, finally placed our drink and food order. It took an extraordinary amount of time to get both (even considering it was Mother’s Day). Our server passed by us several times not bothering to check on us. When the food arrived, it was unremarkable and had obviously sat in the window for some time as it was barely warm and a film had formed on my husband’s gravy. Needless to say, we won’t be returning which is a shame. Big View used to have one of the best breakfasts in the area. I would ask the management to take that table out of commission or give patrons a discount to sit there as the “worst seat in the house” as some restaurants do.

Now that we are confined to our home, due to the Coronavirus, we decided to order dinner from one of the restaurants that offers take-out and delivery service. We phoned in our order for Stroganoff and Jambalaya and asked that it be delivered at 5:30. Our order was taken by Alley and also delivered by her. She was courteous, helpful, and delivered our order promptly at 5:30. Both entrees arrived hot and were excellent. There was so much food, we had enough left over for another dinner. I highly recommend this place!

I Guess the Pandemic is over at the Bay View Diner!

I would give zero stars if I could - I had dinner at the Bay View Diner last night - May 27, 2021. I was shocked to see that ALL of the wait staff and cooks were NOT wearing masks. I approached the hostess upon leaving and questioned the reason - I asked her "Was everyone vaccinated and therefore not wearing masks?" She replied very rudely, "No, the Governor said we don't have to wear masks." To which I replied, "It should only be vaccinated employees that do not wear their masks, especially in a restaurant." She then proceeded to tell me that it is not true because she's NOT vaccinated and she's not wearing a mask. So maybe this young lady does not care about getting vaccinated, but what if I come in, have an elderly parent or sick child at home, even though vaccinated, I can possibly still pass the virus to one of them... I just want to let people know that if you want to eat at a restaurant where the staff/cooks are still wearing masks, then DO NOT go to the Bay View Diner! I will no longer be eating any meals here!

Best Diner I've Ever Eaten At

I typically don't like diners because the food always seems bland and of average quality, but this DINER was fantastic. All four of us loved the meals we ordered. I ordered the smoked salmon plate, my husband had bacon, eggs, fried potatoes, friends had smoked sausage links, potatoes, eggs, English muffins. Nothing was left on any of our plates. I look forward to going back again.

I took my niece from out of town for lunch because the atmosphere is really nice. Everything was fine until the food came, then I ordered the chicken Alfredo and it was yummy until I notice a piece of brush steel. I told the waiter he said that happens with the grill brush sometimes. Honestly glad I noticed it before trying to swallow, I might of needed to go to the hospital. I called back to talk to managment after thinking how dangerous that is and was told the same thing it happens with the grill brush sometimes. They need to fix this because this could be very bad if someone were to get hurt.

Was a big joke

Went for lunch and ordered a sandwich which the soup or salad came with my sandwich, so I ordered a salad. The sandwich was good but there was no lettuce with my salad. I was told, if I want lettuce, I have to ask for it. I never ordered a salad without lettuce.!

Low quality breakfast.

Have been going to this restaurant for years, weekly breakfast, and have seen substantial drop in quality of the meals over the last year. Price jumped by $3.00 for the meal I normally get however the meal is routinely service Luke warm at best. The sausage patty looks to have been under a heat lamp for hours (completely dry and the size of a half dollar),the fried potatoes were burnt over half of the serving and the toast was not warm at all. The other meal ordered was similar and the bacon was dry and cold. Breakfast has to be the easiest to cook prior to serving but the kitchen staff seems to be cooking in bulk and keeping warm for a long long time. We noticed the parking lot was almost empty, no wonder!

staff was great and food was soooo yum! my fav thing is the classic steak burger 😍 plus the bakery items are TO DIE FOR!!! SO GOOD!! shoutout to the pastery chef because everything from the bakery is angelic

WOW ...why change???

We have been regulars at big view for years. Recently, we were very disappointed with the menu change. We have always ordered the salmon and have enjoyed it over time. You dropped the salmon for the lunch menu and we have tried several other options and they were not to our liking. Jeremy has always been there for us and is a great employee and person. We have not gone back because of this change and we so miss being there. Why did you change the menu, which was good and a great value?

Big View Restaurant exceeded expectations with its Blackened Chicken Quesadilla and Grilled Chicken Club. Both dishes were amazing in flavor and presentation. The outstanding service added to the overall experience, making it a must-visit culinary destination.

THE BIG VIEW DINNER - The diner to DINE at!

On a recent trip to Charlotte, NC, I had the pleasure to eat at a cool restaurant - the ‘ Big View Diner ’. Being from the NYC area, I’ve always been a fan of diner type restaurants. I particularly like the idea of the many choices you have to select from. The Big View Dinner did not disappoint. The food and beverage menu were extensive, giving many items to choose from. Additionally, the prices were a good value, the service was terrific, and the actual facility was very nice. And the food itself was very good. I think what struck me the most was the attention we received from the general manager of the restaurant. Miss Anna Porto was the ultimate host checking up on us several times to ensure we had a great dining experience. I recommend the Big View Dinner to people who visit, or live in, the Charlotte area.

Not worth the price

My husband and I stopped for breakfast today. Our food was not hot and the grits were cold and appeared to have been sitting for a long time. The breakfast was pricey given the quality. There are better places to enjoy breakfast and not so expensive. Cannot recommend.
