Man I love really want to continue liking this place. Food always seems to deliver - however, as mentioned below in plenty of reviews - the service is garbage. Not just a regular can of garbage but an overflowing, needs to be collected giant community...garbage. Aside from the usual - slow, unresponsive waiters they’re just shady here - from the staff down to the way the seat people. Tonight’s round of shady. Table mate orders a vodka soda. Check comes - charged for kettle one, $13. When questioned if we mentioned Kettle - the waiter said no, he’d just decided to choose the vodka for us. He mentioned that the house was only a couple dollars less. Around 10/11 (again no clear answer.) I asked for the contact information/ email for the manager. In his words, he is the manager. (With no idea of prices of the place he manages.) I asked the bartender what the price of a house vodka was - he said Tito’s for 12. (Another discrepancy.) Odd house vodka, but sure - $12? *Specialty cocktails are $10 so I’m going to wrap my head around that for a bit. Ate at CO the day before here. Friendly, attentive staff. Great specials and food was fire. Skip Yama if you have the option.More

Glad we found our way here. And wow. This had to have been the best and freshest Sashimi. Not sure that my words can accurately describe it, the fish, we had salmon, tuna, hamachi and snapper, just melted in your mouth. It was sweet and...tasted like it was swimming about an hour before it hit our table. FANTASTIC! The rolls were good too. The rice cooked perfect, with just a little bite.More

Had a great dinner with my wife and brother-in-law. Started with some beer and mixed drinks - fabulous especially the lemon drop martini. Then edimame and Unagi. Finished with sake, two specialty rolls - especially liked the Volcano and a 12 peice sashimi plate. Fabulous...food, great atmosphere, excellent waitstaff.More

My friend and I came to Yamazaru on our weekend trip. It was very busy so we were seated at the sushi bar which turned out pretty cool. The service took a while but we were understanding since it was a full house. The staff...was really nice and the sushi was phenomenal. I particularly enjoyed the Ichiban Roll. I can’t wait to come back.More

The food is a 5, the experience was a 3. Visit was on a busy Thursday night - maybe busier than they expected and that is the reason for the very slow service. Say at bar to wait for table and bartenders didn’t show much...interest in us. After being sat at table, waiter took over ten minutes to get to table. Food took a while to come out as well. That being said, the food was excellent - fresh, tasty and well executed. The salmon crudo goes on my list of best tasting dishes of all types of food. Will go back because the food quality outweighed the experience.More

This place is amazing from the Brussels sprouts to the shishito peppers to the point your finger at any sushi on the menu and you are in for a good meal. A must place to eat again and again!

Been here twice so far, and it keeps getting more enjoyable! This place has a great atmosphere, it's fun for a Friday Night or basic dinner during the week. The sushi is very good. They have a big variety of rolls. But if you are...like me and prefer basic sushi pieces they have that too--the basic platter is big and at a good price. The special seared salmon appetizer w/aoli sauce is delicious! The waitress was very nice. We will definitely be coming here often. I am anxious to try the ramen as that looked really good.More

This place just opened this year and doesn’t have a ton of reviews yet but it is the best sushi I have had so far in Charlotte. The prices are very reasonable and the fish quality is always excellent. The ambiance is great and the...service is also usually awesome. We live across the street and eat here at least once per week. Great secret spot in southend. We keep trying all the recommended sushi spots in clt but keep coming back here for the consistent quality and reasonable price Love this place!More
