They are open and sufficiently staffed for such a visit. The staff was either indifferent or friendly, depending on which person you spoke with. They weren't full (maybe 50%) it took a long time to be seated and even longer to receive food. Food was ok for late night food, but just ok. Good enough for what it is for.

We ordered fried chicken for lunch today and was sadly served dried out fried chicken. I had to drink water after each bite it was so dry. I said something to our waitress and she just said sorry. No offer to make it right.

Went to a concert at Spectrum center. Red Eye was just a short walk away (Located in the Epicentre). The place has a 1950's retro-diner feel to it. There are many reproduction gold & platinum records from various artists adorning the walls.
The server was courteous and was very helpful explaining all the items on the menu. They serve breakfast all day so the wife got an omelette and grits. She said the grits were excellent and did not even need to have butter added. I got the Philly cheese steak with waffle fries which were also very good.

Never coming back again! The meal was disgusting. The service was not terrible, however, the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and firecracker appetizer were terrible because a servicer package food while waiting outside of the dinner. The firecracker appetizer was cold when I received it. I wanted a fresh spicy fried shrimp in a volcano sauce but I receive a soft and disgusting appetizer. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich was so dry and was burnt to a crisp. I am sorry to say this but, I would go to a fast-food chain instead of wasting money here.

Went on a busy weekend night and service was haphazard. The worst part was the food. My salad was served on a plate too hot to even handle so it was ruined. The spaghetti sauce was so watery (I assume to not draining the spaghetti enough) that is was just flavorless bland meat in a clear liquid. My husband got a breakfast plate and barely touched it. Just not good food.

I ordered the Western Omelette w/x cheddar, and when I got to work the omelette only had cheese. I called there spoke to someone name Zoe and I forgot the other person’s name. However my complaint is the customer service and how they handled their screw up. They requested that I walk the omelette back to the diner and they would fix the problem by giving me what I requested. I stated that I have already began to eat what I have because I’m hungry and I’m at work which is a mile from the diner. Well Zoe then states that is our policy! The customer service sucks and no one wanted to make it right! They will NEVER GET MY BUSINESS AGAIN!!

Went for breakfast (weekday). ..should have know that this was not going to be good when had to wait 5 minutes for a table in an empty restaurant with music blaring from the jukebox, and employees just standing around. Finally got a booth, waited another 10 minutes before someone came, and gave a menu (utensils there but no water) Another 10 minutes before server came and took order and not telling us that an aside she recommended was an extra item). The 30 minutes or more for a simple order of eggs and a waffle. Another trip by a busboy for the syrup and salt and pepper.
Of course, the food was cold. No sign of server, as we noticed that we had no napkins...the toast had no butter, and not served. Almost done with eating when the server came (too stunned to notice). Finished eating and waited another 30 minutes for the tab, but waving at the server, and walking up to the register. Sat down, and another 5 for her to come by, and then another 10 minutes to get the charge card back.
But the kicker was, they were cleaning the table in front of us, and we had not even seen the charge card to sign!
oh, and the meal...another greasy spoon restaurant, if that gives an idea of quality.

Stayed in City Center for a show nearby. There are not a lot of late night options for food, so when the show let out at 11, we sought something near to our hotel. After visiting a nearby bar and being told they had no food, we were sent by the bouncer to RedEye. First, we waited outside for 10 minutes. There were numerous open spots for seating, but okay. Once allowed inside, we were seated at a dirty table, given menus and silverware, and twenty minutes later, we just left. No one even acknowledged we were there. I honestly do not know how this place stays in business

You get your authentic diner experience here. BFast, lunch, dinner all day with the old pictures on the walls. We had Sat morning breakfast there and it was done well, though the service was awful. They lost our place on line, and two items we requested never came. Tip: the Midnight Diner 3/4 of a mile away in South End is the SAME setup, same menu, though better service. Go to one, you've been to them both.

There was little to recommend about RedEye. Slow to host me even though the restaurant was empty. The booth seat had a tear in it. The napkins are tissue paper thin. The flatware is cheap. The bathroom was not clean. The server was slow to refill my coffee even though the restaurant was empty. The side of fruit I got was four overripe grapes and four melon chunks for $5. The Coconut Crisp Challah French was fine but unremarkable - four chunks with no sauces or sides or presentation. I understand it’s a diner not fine dining, but coffee, French toast wedges and a few grapes was $26, so the value was poor, too.

Don't let the 'you may have to wait for your food because we are having staffing issues' sign on the door defer you from coming in to eat any meal! We had friendly, quick service and the food was delicious. We ended up eating two meals here... onion rings, waffle fries, waffles, scrambled eggs, fried hard eggs, and a Meat lovers omelete with hashbrowns and biscuit. The diner is super clean. We will definitely come back when in Charlotte.

We stopped for dinner after a long days drive. We came here with another couple. Both of our husbands said their hamburger were wonderful and my friend really loved her chicken salad sandwich. I had a bowl of chicken noodle soup, I wish it had been served a little warmer. but the waitress made up for it all! Her name is “Jaz “, she’s a special lady, very intelligent, quick on her feet and can hook you up with an awesome meal in no time! She can even recommended the most delicious moist coconut cake in town! okay

We love visiting this retro diner when in Charlotte! The food is really great and the atmosphere is fun! Jukebox, frosty rootbeer in a glass bottle, boomerang print tables and vinyl booth seating...our waitress was very nice. We came in around midnight... it's attached to a parking garage so it was really convenient... especially since it was pouring rain. We've had the fried chicken, collards, mashed potatoes, Carolina burger and the Redeye signature burger. All great!

This place is run by the laziest most unprofessional idiots I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant and I’m not exaggerating. After finally being seated (over half empty) and ready to order we were TOTALLY ignored for over 10 minutes while two other parties that had arrived after us were greeted, given drinks, and placed their orders. When we asked for a waitress so we could place our order this triggerd an argument amongst the staff and we overheard someone say “don’t worry about it they haven’t left yet”. We then took off like a shot cat. Someone please open up a breakfast place nearby and run these morons out of business. Avoid this place like the plague!

The diner was within walking distance from our hotel, which was great as the weather was spectacular on this Sunday. There were only two of us, so we were seated in less than 10 minutes. The waitress came shortly, and I ordered the chicken and waffles, one of my favorites back in the days in Harlem, New York. My wife ordered the standard eggs, hash browns, and bacon. My waffles looked inviting until I began cutting them up into bite sizes. The waffles began crumbling up like paper mache. I took a chance to taste them, lacking flavor and seasoning. The chicken wings were flavorful but a little chewy. The waitress was nice but never sent anyone to clean up the trash from creamer cups, sugar packets, etc. If visiting Charlotte again, I may give them another shot, but I was not impressed with my first visit.
