Magone has the best Steak & Cheese sandwich of any restaurant in the area. I picked up one after work for my wife and I to split and she said it was one of the best sandwiches she has had. All the food at Magone...is consistently delicious. If you are looking for good, informal Italian food in north Chapel Hill, stop by Magone. You won't be disappointed.More

In town for a medical appointment and our check-in clerk at our hotel recommended Magone's for authentic Italian food. Boy was he right! We lived in Naples area for five years and this was like being back in our local trattoria in Pozzzouli all over...again. As it turns out, the cook, Pasquale was from a village about four miles from where we lived and must have paid close attention to his nonna while learning to cook. The clams linguine here really is as good as it gets. The same can be said of the penne amatriciana! It was really a treat to eat at Magone's. The staff was wonderful, and Pasquale and Sal are molto gentile. We will be back in a few weeks, we think we found a new and regular trattoria, much more menu to explore.More

Tried their calzones last night. I absolutely love that it comes with ricotta cheese inside along with the mozzarella. I had spinach, zucchini, meatballs and pepperoni inside as well. Excellent combination. The "small" calzone was huge so I got two meals out of it. Can't...wait for my next calzone there.More

Casual dinner with some friends at a lovely Italian restaurant. The menu was extensive with all of us ordering different dishes. Make your own pasta, shrimp alfredo, cappellini peperonata, and chicken picatta were our choices. The portions were large and on the whole very tasty....The peperonata could use more salt, easily applied at the table. The only thing somewhat disappointing was their house Italian dressing which did not have a great deal of flavor. Maybe we just got a bad sample. The prices were very reasonable and the service was good.More

We liked Pulcinella in Durham, and were glad to hear the folks there were opening in CH. The lasagna is so good I rarely try anything else. (I steer clear of pizza myself, but they sell a lot, and it looks good.) Caponata salad is...a meal in itself. Nice young wait staff. Few of my reviews are this positive.More

Magone provides authentic fresh Italian options with great service and fair pricing. The atmosphere is busy and there are no white table cloths but for quality and value Magone is a wonderful choice.

I had brain surgery so was back in Chapel Hill for a post op. Had lunch at Magone. They were very accommodating for my disability (walker). I went with my sister and daughter. We ordered a large cheese pizza and the fettuccine Alfredo with zucchini....Had almost enough pizza left over for dinner. Food was very good! So was service. I highly recommend Magone.More

I'm fussy about Italian because I'm first generation Italian. But this place, while it isn't fancy as far as decor, it MORE than makes up for it on the quality of the food. We've dined there three times and will continue to do so in...the future. The specials are terrific but be sure to ask what the price of the specials are. The pizza is terrific and the pasta wonderful. My husband had the special once and ordered Shrimp Alfredo which he said was the best he'd ever had and he's become as picky as I am. The tiramisu is fantastic as well!! The service is good too! And I get to speak Italian to the owner!More

We live on the north side of Chapel Hill and visit this restaurant frequently. I love love love their Tiramisu. It is as good as what I make!! We like the lasagna and Italian main courses better than the Pizza, but everything is good.
